Thanks for Noticing

In January 2011, journalists David Codrea and Mike Vanderboegh picked up the Gunwalker story from CleanUpATF.org. They began to investigate and report their findings as well as precipitate a Senate Judiciary Committee inquiry into the matter led by U.S. Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA). Codrea and Vanderboegh have zealously attempted to publicize the issue ever since. Their hard work finally paid off when Fox News started to report the story and CBS began a full length investigation. [More]
Well-intended statements from readers notwithstanding, recognition outside of a tiny pond is important for many reasons.

Meanwhile, Over at Stupid Party Central

Really?

Because I see a couple names there that would compel me to sit 2016 out.

A Right or a Privilege?

Florida Carry advises "Tomorrow ...at 10 am, the 4th Florida District Court of Appeal will hear oral arguments on Norman v. State." [More

They're asking Sunshine State gun owners who can to attend in person. They're asking those who can't to watch the proceedings live at a link they provide. They're asking us all to pass the word along, to inform as many as we can.

Why not make that today's Five-Minute Activism project?

My Favorite Gun Kapo

Mike Weisser is my favorite gun dealer. [More
And why is Fourth Estate Fifth Columnist Joe Nocera, who never misses an opportunity to try to drive in a divide-and-conquer wedge, so enamored?  Did he buy one of those "40,000 guns" his new-found hero has put "on the street"? (Say, I wonder if any of those have been "traced"?)
I asked Weisser how his business has been. He told me that he stopped selling guns at retail earlier this year.
So Joe's favorite gun dealer is one who doesn't sell guns. There's an opening for Gomer if I ever heard one.

Be nice to prove that gun owner refusal to give aid and comfort to the enemy had a lot to do with that development...

Be Careful Who Your Friends Are

I got a Facebook "friend" request from some woman I'd never heard of.  I get those from time to time, often scammers, some suggesting a virtual "relationship," but this one only had a photo of the person in question, with no other information. Before confirming the request, I noticed she had one friend, and when I clicked to go see his page, his top post bragged about impregnating our wives and mothers to create more anchor babies.

The moral of this story is, don't just trust that a friend request means the person actually wants to be your friend. I know for most this will sound kind of "No, Duh!" basic, but you might be surprised how many well-meaning people end up with regrets for not doing even a basic check.

We have plenty of enemies out there, who want to disrupt things just because of what we believe in. There's a myth that a vampire cannot cross your threshold unless you invite him in.  Make sure anyone you do is not bothered by symbols of virtue.

Which reminds me...

We're the Only Ones Disenfranchising Enough

Seeing as how Mr. Kennedy did not "obstruct, intimidate, threaten, or coerce any other person for the purpose of interfering with the right of such other person to vote or to vote as he or she may choose, or for the purpose of causing such other person to vote for, or not to vote for, any candidate for state or local office or any other proposition at any election," Sheriff's Capt. Ken Burchfield has some explaining to do. [More]

Will their Republican sheriff-elect do anything about it?

You can always ask him...

About Last Night

The Shooters' Log asked me to do a postmortem on the elections as a follow-up to my pre-election piece, so I'll be focusing on getting that out as I gather source material throughout the day.

Document dump shows State had a hand in 'Fast and Furious' redactions

One direction the continued investigation could go that has thus far escaped close scrutiny, at least in the media, may be indicated by redactions previously initiated by State. What level of involvement that department had should be of significant interest, as it has authority over international arms exports. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes -- while the election eve document dump is significant in its own right for minimizing public attention -- a bigger story may be hidden  in DOJ's admission that State had a hand in withholding "Gunwalker" information -- and that hand bears Hillary's fingerprints.

This Day in History: November 5

We are told by a letter from Mr. Carmichael that the firmness of the Answers of the States to the Overtures of the British Court (through S’r Guy Careleton and admiral Digby) has had a very good effect, and has even met with the personal applause of the King of Spain, and that the Opinion of the foreign Ministers at that Court is that the Wisest thing Great Britain can do is to Conclude a treaty acknowledging the Independence of America.
