At that rate, they're looking at ~4,000 injured and over 600 dead by year's end.

Why do I imagine the gang-bangers responding, "Challenge accepted"?

Watching the Lefty blogs, I see that their now-standard response to "Forget it, Jake, it's Chi-Town" is: "Your hick southern towns like Atlanta and Birmingham have lots of murders, too!"

"Yeah, sweet pea," I answer, "what do all these cities have in common? Democrat mayors, 'gun-free zones' and black thugs."

That causes an amygdala rupture. They can't take it.

Interesting that two of these Chicago shooting incidents are not gang-on-gang shootings, but instead are defensive gun use during armed robberies, with the robbers' outcomes not good.

Two (“children” by some definitions) shot and killed during attempted armed robbery of liquor store posted as “no guns allowed”:

The over 200 comments by Chicago Tribune readers are interesting.

Two shot but only wounded during attempted robbery of a T-Mobile franchise:

“T-Mobile spokeswoman Annie Garrigan said the store is an independant dealer of T-Mobile products, not owned or operated by the company.”

Nice corporate back-pedaling there, T-Mobile, trying to disassociate your corporation from people needing to do the grisly but necessary business of defending themselves from gun-wielding robbers while selling your corporation’s products and services.
