The Quartz Provocation

I included an indirect link to the piece in today's Captain's Log entry.  I don't think I'm going to link directly to the stupid cow's subversive screed, because I perceive it being click bait and I don't want to reward that with attention.

Screw her, screw them. They're powerless and they know it, so all they can do is hiss in impotent rage.

Good.

"They're powerless and they know it, so all they can do is hiss in impotent rage." Hope you're right.

However, historically, statists have egged one another on to absolutely insane, unworkable actions, just to get legitimized but still desirable (to Progs) results.

I offer the following examples: Militant abolitionism (brought about the destruction and subjugation of the hated South via military means, and the rise of Big Government), Prohibition (its repeal brought about the National Firearms Act and machine-gun registration), and the War on Poverty (brought about the destruction of the black family via the welfare system, and a reliable voting bloc for the Progs).

What is the possible pseudo-legitimate fallout of the Left egging one another to absolute gun confiscation?

I think it could be forced gun registration, and the resulting civil war and rending of America into two or three parts.

The Progs could use such chaos to kill off a lot of us, devastate the South again, and also consolidate their power in the Acela Corridor and a few other places.

I can't argue. I guess I meant as individuals they are frustrated and ineffectual, and giving them thousands of hits and comments they would otherwise never get encourages them to add to the noise.

I was able to follow your links and found her profile without giving either Quartz (whoever the heck they are) or HuffPo a click.

This woman's history is exactly what one might guess. Educated at Cornell and New York University, job stints at PBS, Newsweak (sic) and the New York Times. She's received an Excellence in Journalism award from the National Association of Gay and Lesbian Journalists and is a graduate of the Diversity Institute's Nashville, Tenn. Multimedia Institute.

I just ran 'em through Quantcast to see how big they are -- Owner Atlantic Media is wasting money, because for all those writers, their monthly site visits are showing as less than twice that of just this measly blogspot blog, which doesn't get but a fraction of the readership as my other venues. And I'm a comparative nobody to Big Boy Media. So yeah, it looks like they did that article with the desperation intent of drawing eyeballs.

I thought Atlantic Media sounded familiar, so I checked to see where I might have heard of them before. It was a story a while back that lead me to their 'Government Executive' website, whose "essential editorial mission is to cover the business of the federal government and its huge departments and agencies -- dozens of which dwarf the largest institutions in the private sector".

The size of this government (and those that defend it's continued growth) blows my mind.
