'A Good Start'? For What?

Firearms and Explosives Office - FEOJune 20 at 2:24am · Quezon City, Philippines · FOR INFORMATION and Dissemination:All Permits to Carry Firearms Outside of Residence (PTCFOR) are hereby suspended in the entire island of Mindanao for the whole duration of Presidential Proclamation of Martial Law. (See attached photo: Memorandum signed by PDG RONALD M DELA ROSA,Chief,Philippine National Police) [More]
I'm told he did it on his own "authority."

Here's a backup story. Naturally, the "Authorized Journalists" call it "a good start," making it fair to ask what the end is going to look like.

I bet all the exemptions still apply.

Oh, but now that Omar Maute might be dead (rumored to have been killed in a battle 2 weeks ago), I wonder how long it will take the PNP to lift the suspension. Or will they keep it in place "just in case", since the Mautes are skipping out of Malawi by stashing their guns and evacuating by blending in with the other residents? Incrementalism abounds. I wonder what's more trustworthy - the military, or a national police force that's bigger than the military? Given their history, I doubt either one can be trusted.

Same as here.

There's that "club we ain't in" in action again.

Just as some of our congress critters want to allow themselves to carry nation wide, but not their employers, which is of course us.
