Why the NRA Should Support a Constitutional Militia

That is part of our Constitution, and that particular part of our Constitution is totally ignored by those folks who are running our government.[More]
As long as it is, and as long as the "gun lobby" legal arguments focus exclusively on "self-defense," the "weapons of war" argument will continue to be successfully used by the antis at the state level (and beyond once the cultural terraforming becomes overwhelming).

Then again, how many gun owners do you think have thought through what a Constitutional Militia would require of them, especially in terms of discipline and submission to authority?

Hey David,

Have you written about what a Constitutional Militia would look like in 2017? What their role would be, given the current state of affairs with the .gov failures in illegal immigration, terrorism, etc?

I'd like to read if so

To quote the great philosopher, Pelosi:

"Constitution, are you serious?"

Not exclusively. I've made a comment here or there, but mostly to refute "scholars" ostensibly on "our side" who maintain militia armament requirements mean registration would be Constitutional. I'm thinking of doing a more detailed column for my upcoming GUNS piece on the cases SCOTUS just rejected and may have a place for some speculation there.

Talk about a brain freeze-- I don't know how I didn't immediately remember this: https://www.oathkeepers.org/selective-history-lesson-on-militias-ignores-inconvenient-truths/
and this:

and a GUNS Magazine article "Well Regulated" that I'm having trouble locating online right now -- all of which I'll probably consult if I do a new article.

Click that (more) link above and see how you can order Dr. Vieira's book titled "Thirteen Words". That little book is a wonderful teaching tool for the role of the Militia in the "several States", as required by the Constitution. For more books on 2A and the Militia, scroll this page -- https://thementalmilitia.net/2015/10/08/dr-edwin-vieira-jr/
