Their ONLY purpose is to kill large numbers of people in a short period of time! Thats why we want our Police to have them!
Ah, but you see - when the POLICE carry these firearms they are no longer "assault weapons". Through the righteous power of those having fellowship in the priesthood of the "Thin Blue Line", those sinful assault weapons spontaneously undergo a holy transformation and become blessed "Patrol Rifles".
