A Professional Opinion

In a post to Hotline, the city's public email listserv, Nagle wrote on Friday evening that she "and other council members" are leaning toward an alternative proposal referred to Nagle by Boulder resident John Ramey. He is a former advisor to the Obama administration, according to his LinkedIn profile, and Nagle said he "has past success in figuring out large and tricky governing problems." [More]

"The sheriff has the discretion to refuse permit applications based on documented evidence that an applicant is a risk to public safety. Certain crimes of domestic violence don’t always qualify as reasons to deny concealed-carry applicants.”

And if that’s not enough…

There’s a legendary tale about a police chief in may-issue Massachusetts who repeatedly turned down an abused wife because she had “insufficient reason” to be issued a license to own a handgun. (Yeah, in Massachusetts you need a license to OWN, not just carry.) Then her husband beat the snot out of her. After she got out of the hospital, she went back to the chief to demand her license, and was turned down because she “now had a history of domestic violence.”

Happened in the town of Marlborough.

This is the situation these “progressives” would like to return people to.
