That said, duping someone into helping bring about their own personal and reputational destruction could end in tragedy. I'm sure there are some who will laugh even harder if it does.

I really think there's a pattern at work.
Why target pro-gun persons?
If they dared question an "Israeli anti terrorism expert" someone one might call them an Anti-Semite. Much better to look like a fool than to have people think you are a Nazi.
