The American Spirit

AMENDMENT TWO: A LEGAL IMMIGRANT’S CAUTIONARY TALE by Anonymous [More]
I missed this when it first posted.

And no, it doesn't contradict anything I say in my challenge, which acknowledges "anecdotes and isolated examples" exist.

My contention is that everything the government does, including about immigration, is illegitimate unless it fulfills the mandate of the Preamble, especially "to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity."

Welcoming people who will support and contribute to that is absolutely consistent.

It brings to mind another piece I've been meaning to link to, one that  defines the qualities of those who will become liabilities or assets, and is an insightful and true article deserving of your cognizance and sharing:
"Presumably the qualifications for entry and naturalization will be whether those who wish to enter demonstrate a capacity to adopt the habits, manners, independence, and self-reliance of republican citizens and devotion to the principles that unite the American people. Furthermore, it would be unreasonable not to expect that potential immigrants should possess useful skills that will ensure that they will not become victims of the welfare state."
