I remember the names of fewer than a dozen "teachers" and most of those memories are negative. Most were incompetent bullies and jerks.

The ones I remember fondly were the rare exception. One was Mr. Yowell, a Kentuckian teaching at the Community School in Tehran, who on my 10th birthday gave me two paperbacks, one by Twain and the other by Steinbeck.
