This is why I never, ever give to "united" charities. If I'm going to be charitable, I'm going to know the recipient, and if possible, look him or her in the face. I don't ask for much, but I do ask for gratitude; I don't even require much gratitude, but negative gratitude scrubs you straight off my list.
