Pima Sheriff Claims ‘Only Ones’ Status to Nix Arming Teachers

“The Sheriff says he and Governor Ducey feel it’s not practical to arm teachers because they’d have to become as well trained as deputies.”[More]
The next time some smug hoplophobe tells you citizens shouldn’t carry because police are trained, test them to see if they know what they’re talking about.

Don't Try This at Home

There's a difference between robbery and burglary, and I'm not aware of any authority on DGUs or on the law who advocates shooting tires, or even shooting at all unless being threatened. [More]

The hapless idiot McQueen brothers notwithstanding, I'm suprised charges haven't been filed against the homeowner.

Because as Any Good Anti Will Tell You, Americans Overwhelmingly Demand It

Would you support a constitutional amendment to ban the sale of assault rifles? [More]

It Just Doesn't Matter

8 Times Law-Abiding Citizens Saved Lives With an AR-15 [More]
"Survivor" David Hogg would rather they'd have all been killed instead.

Speaking of that little dweeb, I'd like to see the economics credentials from his CV and where he got the qualifications to instruct a billionaire. I'd also like to see who taught him it's OK for a child to address an adult in that tone.

With his obvious vast historical knowledge, it also doesn't surprise me that he's into armbands. I must say, the resemblance is startling.

But It's for a Good Cause...

The national school walkout for gun control that took place at many public schools across the country Wednesday likely violated the Constitution. That is because the government — in this case, public schools — made a special accommodation for a political viewpoint that it would not make for the opposing view, or for any other view. [More]

Rules are Made to Be Broken

Undocumented immigrant appointed to state post in California [More]
Welcome to the post-"underrepresentation" of criminals age!
According to de León's office, Mateo graduated from Santa Clara University law School in 2016 and passed the California bar last year.
I've been looking around at the State Bar rules trying to see if there are any ethical violations for breaking and flouting immigration law that would be disqualifiersando be the basis for a complaint. An attorney I know there tells me not to waste my time.

About Those Powers and Principalities

“Accordingly, yesterday I advised Ms. Britt that she needed to make a choice of either resigning her role on American Outdoor Brands, or her role as CFO at St. Thomas University, but that she could not continue on both." [More]
No word on whether Monsignor Casale would have required the same had she been on the board of a company that makes arms for the Pope's Swiss Guards...

That's pretty damn putrid of him.

Interesting-- another Catholic university with a similar name, the University of St. Thomas, has no problem "partnering" with OK Go, which made a video attacking Trump and Republicans and ended with a plea for viewers to support these leftists, including the country's leading abortionist:

Well alrighty then.

I Hate to Say I Told You So

It was reported in January that Sessions, at Trump's was pressuring FBI Director Christopher Wray to fire McCabe, but Wray threatened to resign if McCabe was removed. [More]

The Blame Game

As long as we're playing it, those who established a political climate promising sanctuary from federal immigration enforcement share their part for a decision to flee once it was determined "it wasn’t cops but ICE agents."  [More]

Fearing a Utah 'coronation', 11 Republicans challenge Romney [More]
I don't have a ready analysis on who the other contenders are and what their positions are on either that "single issue" or the one that could blow it all up.

I will say that State Rep. Mike Kennedy spearheading a "nonpartisan gun violence panel" of special interest apparatchiks pushing ERPOs and that promises to includes "two high school students" is not very inspiring. His pandering performance at the "press conference" is enough to disqualify this guy from dog catcher in my mind.

What's in a Name?

The affair is old news, but the question to focus on is whether voters will pick Renteria or Villaraigosa over Newsom. [More]

Just like if they will pick de León over Feinstein...

Anybody else sensing the old guard California "progressives" may be the first ones to feel unintended consequences from a constituency of their creation, and that all things being equal, demographics will trump all?

Celebrity Support for Student Walkout Shows Utter Hypocrisy on Guns and More

Once they’re off script, we’re basically dealing with people not necessarily more talented than those still waiting tables who never got a break. And they live in a bubble of celebrity privilege that comes with ideological expectations if they want to stay on top. [More]

Shocking Allegations

Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes' wife alleges widespread abuse in petition for restraining order [More]
This is just stunning.

Just don't lose sight that the key mission -- to make first responders aware of the significance of their oath and their lawful duty to refuse to obey unlawful orders -- is an honorable and necessary one that all Americans who value liberty should support regardless of who is promoting it.

I need to find out more before saying more. My prayers will be with the entire Rhodes family tonight.

UPDATE: After seeing some comments come in, some supportive and others ignorant, untruthful and/or cruel, I've made the decision to turn them off on this post. None of us have the knowledge to weigh in on this with an informed opinion and there are some very real human considerations here. As more becomes known, future posts on this will invite thoughtful comments.  Sorry if you don't like it, but I owe nothing to anonymous trolls and the SPLC blog will give them -- and even supporters -- a bigger audience anyway.
