A 'Law-Abiding' Gun Owner

CALIFORNIA FARMER REGISTERS HIS GUNS ONLINE, THEN GETS CHARGED WITH A DOZEN FELONIES [More]
That'll teach him.

The question is, will other gun owners ever hear of it and react accordingly?

So much for creating disincentives to obey "the law."

Some view it as a positive when learning about high rates of non-compliance, but keep in mind it means if and when the state ever needs it, there will be a serious charge waiting in reserve to exploit when enforcers come in for something else.

UPDATE:

"At Wednesday's hearing, Special Agent Fred Frausto acknowledged the information in the affidavit was false and that he had misread a spreadsheet, Sala said."

There was a long thread on a certain "California based firearms forum" discussing this incident including input from the defendant in this case. Unsurprisingly the usual clique of statists over there was throwing him under the bus before hearing the facts. I am really beginning to wonder if that site is being run by the State DOJ in some capacity as many of the long time forum members not only demand people comply with unconstitutional laws, but also chastise those who dare organize protests in opposition.

Here is the link to thread in the forum:

The "farmer" in this case goes by the name of bakoFarmer and is a Lifetime Contriubtor to CGN/CGSSA, so he isn't just someone who just fell off a turnip truck and was trying to comply with the law after a divorce.

What really is infuriating is that there were several long time and regular posters insisting that everyone should register their "assault weapons" before the deadline in July. They kept spouting a convoluted reason that refusing to so or converting firearms to a "featureless" configuration (not requiring registration) is somehow doing exactly what the gun grabbers in Sacramento wanted. Even after this incident and the recent gun confiscation incident caught on video these same individuals still refuse to admit that registration does lead to confiscation.

Ha! When you indicated there were some apologists for infringements; I suspected it was them.
