The rights of the PEOPLE signifies individuals, otherwise the First Amendment would only allow State Assemblies to gather.
As for the AWB, there was a study but the use of these type of firearms was so small that no conclusions could be reached one way or the other as to effectiveness.
Bonus points, read US v Miller where the SCOTUS concluded a sawed off shotgun was not protected under the Second Amendment because they were not shown to have military utility.
How many times has Lucky LaPierre given the Queen of Carolina an "A", an Orange Alert Card, etc?
As usual, this gun control push is unconstitutional, it’s blameshifting, but it’s not Trump’s fault LaPierre supports “gun free” zones, such that shall-issue “carry” states like Texas, Florida & Virginia didn’t preempt them decades ago when they could’ve, and didn’t train, indemnify & incentivize civilians to engage mass shooters.
At nearly 5% Texas permit rate, there should’ve been 50-150 civilians blasting the killer, but there was only one civilian with a gun at the “gun free” mall, and he didn’t engage.
Whose fault is that?
1. Wayne LaPierre and his board toadies and sweetheart vendor-vampires who put him in power so they could pocket billions of dollars that should’ve gone into the fight.
2. 2A supporters should’ve been defunding NRA and joining effective groups instead of shooting any messenger who said something stinks at NRAHQ.
I’ve been warning about this for decades. Sooner or later the public will snap and WE had the power to prevent it, at least in pro-gun states. But gun owners wanted to hide the corruption at NRA and shoot the messenger. They did it to themselves.
Why are the opinions of Mothers considered to carry more weight than anyone else ?
Every murderer, every serial killer has a mother.
Wouldn't an organization of the mothers of crime victims that oppose the mothers that produced murderers make more sense ?
