Duress Code

I was too livid to express it at the moment, but when I did convey this misunderstanding to the HR rep later, her response was, “That’s not your decision to make.” [More]
So anything goes unless it melts snowflakes. Got it.

I'm recalling the instruction on "decluttering" from Robert Townsend's near-forgotten classic, where he talks about eliminating the personnel department. Having spent decades in my past life in heavily regulated corporate environments, I've pretty much seen the trends that led to where we are today before things wholly metastasized. I am so glad I'm out.

"Inclusive" and "diversity" mean behaviors and appearances sanctioned by the unwritten codes of the "progressive" elite. The fact that they are unwritten makes them infinitely flexible and mutable. Anything not conforming to today's version (even if it was fine yesterday) makes the offender into a disfavored group, such as a "sexist", "homophobe" or "white nationalist." These labels may be applied as needed. It is perfectly possible to be a Jewish anti-Semite.
Certain groups are at the top of the victimization pyramid and members can do about anything they desire. Currently these groups include Muslims and transgender people. The wonderful thing about the system is its flexibility. In a couple of years, some other group will get "most favored victim" status. It appears that our society is well and truly f****d.
