Perhaps the dumbest phrase in the English language:
"It just went off!"
There's at least 3 safe handling rules that were ignored/violated before the person in this story was "accidentally" shot.
1. Treat all firearms as loaded until they are rendered incapable of firing.
2. Keep loaded firearms pointed in a safe direction.
3. Keep your finger (and everything else) out of the trigger guard until your sights are lined up on your intended target.
