The End of America?

I read the articles but have not read the book. Perhaps it addresses my concerns.

It's nice to read hopeful thoughts that peaceful separation is possible. I'm at a loss to find a historical precedent for this scale of empire.

I don't believe what develops will be amicable where we can agree to disagree and go our separate ways from totalitarians who mean to rule. And it's not like "they" are there and "we" are here in any but the most sparsely populated places.

I think it will be surrender or fight.

I think it will evolve with sanctuary states and counties refusing to enforce federal laws. We have already seen this with immigration and drug laws, now expanding into gun rights. So far though, there have been no examples (to my knowledge) of local law enforcement actively interfering with federal agents. What will happen when the Sheriff of a rural county arrests (as he is constitutionally empowered to do) a federal agent, such as a DEA or BATFE agent? That is where the rubber will meet the road.

The biggest problem, in my opinion, with the 2nd amendment sanctuary resolutions, is that they do not call for the arrest and prosecution of state or federal LEOs attempting to enforce unconstitutional laws.

What has happened in the past is that a large federal grant will be offered to the local government and all charges against the federal officers will be dropped.

Ask the state of Idaho, which wanted to press charges against Lon Horiuchi for the death of Randy Weaver’s wife, and was sandbagged by the feds.
