How, Indeed?

The commission would also investigate how the gunman was able to carry out his actions... [More]
That's the crux of it right there, of course, and the answer couldn't be more obvious.

But there's public plunder to be spent, self-promoting publicity to be exploited and an agenda to be advanced, so what the hell -- forming a blue-ribbon panel that will give 'em all that and more, except for the damn truth, is the way things are done these days.

Someone needs to introduce them to Col. Nathan R. Jessup

"You can't handle the truth!"

Also kinda reminds me of the old joke about a passerby trying to help a drunk to find his dropped car keys under a street light. After searching a while with no luck he asks the drunk "Are you sure you dropped them around here?" To which the drunk responds, "no I dropped them over there but there isn't enough light over there to search for them."

In short, they're not going to search for the truth, because they don't acknowledge the truth, and couldn't handle it regardless.

And the committee is already gerrymandered by having 15/20 commissioners picked by either Coonman Northam or Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn, both dedicated gun-grabbers.

Filler-Corn was one of the culprits reently caught in an open mike conversation discussing how pro-rights protesters were “just like little children.”
