Hey, it's ONLY...! What's wrong with a law that you have to disclose your personal business to two or three neighbors? After all, you need two character references for an abortion, right?
My wife had to go through this BS to get her first purchase permit. One of the "references" she chose was a neighbor, the local UU minister and (more importantly) two-term selectman of our town. Several years afterward, the minister was convicted and imprisoned for turning his live-in 14-year-old Tibetan refugee girl into a personal sex slave for two years, and was in the process of importing several more for a harem.
I'm soooo glad my wife got this clown's recommendation for being someone of upstanding moral character!
