A Little Bird Told Me...

The guy in charge of ATF Field Office DIOs (and ultimately the inspectors) is OUT at the end of the month--he's retiring and people don't mind because...well, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but the kindest critique from my source is "ineffective and inconsistent."

Another rumor is there is a committee reviewing the revocation process with the goal of working more with industry, but who knows?

The Level of Reporting We've Come to Expect

Three brief mentions in the OIG's Semiannual Report to Congress on DOJ:
There also are several significant ongoing reviews underway, including the investigation into the gun trafficking operation known as Operation Fast and Furious and the review of the enforcement of civil rights laws by the Voting Section of the Department’s Civil Rights Division. I am committed to prioritizing these reviews and overseeing their timely completion.
Yeah, well, don't let me hurry you...
Ongoing Work The OIG continues its important ongoing work, including the following audits, evaluations, inspections, and special reviews: • The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF) firearms trafficking investigation known as Operation Fast and Furious, and other investigations with similar objectives, methods, and strategies.
Huh. Nothing in there about whether or not any crimes were committed, or if there is any curiosity that some might have been.  Hey Darrell, make sure you ask 'em for their work papers.
Operation Fast and Furious and Similar Firearms Trafficking Investigations The OIG is reviewing ATF’s firearms trafficking investigation known as Operation Fast and Furious, and other investigations with similar objectives, methods, and strategies. The review is examining the development and implementation of the investigations; the involvement of the Department (including ATF, the Criminal Division, and USAOs) and other law enforcement or government entities in the investigations; the guidelines and other internal controls in place and compliance with those controls during the investigations; and the investigative outcomes.
Well, that certainly tells us a lot more than Point Two...It's almost like new Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz was a Lanny Breuer crony or somethin'...

Yeah, Baby!

Remember that two ATSNTV shows are eligible for a Telly Award and could use some viewer support. Please go here and here and give each one a thumbs up. Every day until June 8.

And don't forget that this will be on again tonight.

Warning Shot???

My position is, if there are threatening intruders on my property, I don't want to let them even know I'm there, let alone armed, until they wake up in Hell and are told what happened. [Read]

Don't you just love the judgment pronounced by the "Only Ones" at the end of this story though?  Hell, they'd have raided the wrong house, shot the damn dog and dismissed it all as proper protocol...and the cheerleading "Authorized Journalists" would have withheld their frickin' names.

Big Gulp

Kurt emailed me a graphic a friend sent him in re Furious Mike's latest fit of megalomania:

[REMOVED GRAPHIC]

I asked him if he had a link so I could give it proper credit, and he's checking.  If anybody knows, please clue me in so I can add attribution and a link.

UPDATE: Looks like this is the source, and since the person who designed it is selling it, I've removed it so as not to devalue his work. We've all gotta eat.

The rest of you...get away, you filthy untouchables.

Just like the elites "feel" here.

I'm reacting to the way The Guardian's  "Authorized Journalists" couched their subhead , and while it's true there is great income disparity in India, it looks like this group decries "VIP" treatment and is doing what they can to push the envelope for all.

Another Argument for Registration

FIFTY firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition have been stolen from registered NSW gun owners in the past 16 days, prompting fears the firearms registry has been compromised. [More]
Laughing here. F-ing idiots.

Hey, who believes it's all due to unintentional breaches, as opposed to either somebody on the inside supplementing his income or/and somebody letting him get away with it because it lets them make the case for even greater restrictions?

It's not like evil, self-serving bastards pulling the puppet strings have morals or anything.

Mexican Ambassador confirms early citizen journalist reports amidst media spin

The paper’s ostensibly “straight news report,” with its clear editorial political objectives, is made all the more curious by reviewing what is now ancient history in the “Project Gunwalker” timeline, specifically early reports from Gun Rights Examiner and Sipsey Street Irregulars that “The ATF office in Mexico was denied permission to share this information with their Mexican counterparts.” [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report shows what happens when public information gatekeepers act more like paid security deciding who's cool enough to be admitted to an exclusive private club. The LA Times is just now getting around to reporting on what Mike Vanderboegh and I told them about Gunwalker back in Jan. 2011. And significantly, their ambassador raises the possibility that the government's intent may not be what they claim.

Actually, there's not much more, as the "Hearing Documentation" and "Witness List" sections come up blank, at least from my end.

I've been told Lamar Smith said Holder will be there and he'd better be prepared to answer questions, and am trying to track that down to confirm A, he said that, B, Holder will be, and C, they'll be prepared to do more than utter meaningless threats that they're really, really, REALLY gonna do something if he doesn't shape up and play ball soon, by golly, we're SERIOUS this time...don't MAKE us pull over...

I'll update this if I can nail down more information.

Jumping to Illusions...Again

This isn't the first time this outfit has broadcast unsupported hysteria--in this case, they once again referenced Mike Vanderboegh as their source, but only paid attention to half of what he had written, arrived at a conclusion he never advanced, and never even contacted him to make sure they got it right.  I found out about this piece last night because it was really upsetting some folks over in an activist forum who assumed it was gospel.
