Obama website shows gun control never really went under the radar

In short, the president wants to enact a measure opposed by the Fraternal Order of Police because it could compromise ongoing criminal investigations, he wants to end private sales, he wants to mandate nonexistent technology (“Only Ones” exempted, of course, even though the genesis of “smart gun” research and development was to mitigate police “takeaway” incidents), and he wants the federal government to withhold 19th Century firearm technology from “We the People.” [More
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report shows what to expect once "flexibility" improves.

Do You Tweet?

If so click on this link:
Will @MittRomney & @PaulRyanVP ensure justice for #FastAndFurious? Will you revoke Exec Privilege & order DOJ cooperation?
and tweet the damn thing.

I'm back in pot-banging mode.  It seems to be the only way for us small fry to get anything done.

Help?

Vanderboegh Medical Update

I spoke with Mike this morning just as he was getting ready to undergo another CAT scan.  He still sounds weak, albeit a bit stronger than when I spoke with him yesterday, which he attributes to "ups and downs."  He's interested in what new is going on because he hasn't been able to get on his computer in the past two days--again a good reason not to leave comments on Sipsey Street Irregulars that he'll be forced to moderate.

We did manage to share a laugh, so at least he hasn't lost his sense of humor.

UPDATE: Good news in that his stomach checked out OK, now they're going to look at the brain to see if  they can find a physiological clue to the debilitating vertigo.

We're the Only Ones Waiving Enough

The medical information waivers — which did not carry any indication that they were written by a law enforcement agency — were handed out last year to about 30 local pain doctors, who were asked to have patients sign them. [More]
How about they start by getting members of their own department to sign them first?

How about it, Tom?  Lead by example?

Ask a Silly Question...

One thing's for sure--don't expect an answer if I'm the only one asking. And if those with real reach continue to avoid it.

And while the last debate challenge was more in response to the Bradys trying to hijack an economic forum, the next one will be on foreign policy--making questions about Mexico relevant, and making any ducking of the issue a good indicator for what to expect.

So Much for Separation of Church and State

After at least two committee hearings on the issue, legislators have yet to explain why any person, other than law enforcement, needs to walk around the far-less-than-mean streets of Utah with a visible firearm.[More]
Good one, Jean Hill, government liaison for the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City! We've seen time and again, the magic badge and costume is all it takes to calm the herd and get that cud regurgitation cycling naturally again.

Any costume, and even if those qualified to wear it are out of their minds.

And as for the "far-less than-mean streets," in 2010, Utah had 5,879 violent crimes reported in 2010, including 53 murders, 948 forcible rapes, 1,268 robberies and 3,610 aggravated assaults. Tell us where and when the next one will be, Jean, so we'll know not to walk there.

Then tell us how the Orwellian-named "Peace and Justice Ministry" advocates the ultimate use of armed force by approved costume-wearers to bend all people, including non-Catholics, to its will.

Carte Blanche

The nation's top drug and gun enforcement agencies do not track how often they give their informants permission to break the law on the government's behalf. [More]
No, of course not. Because that would mean someone is tracking them.

Besides, we're the ones who need tracking.

Welcome to the Party, Pal

Where is the American press who has failed in their responsibility to be the watch dog of irresponsible and illegal government activities? [More]
Indeed.

We might also ask why you're just now getting around to asking that question.

Hello, Mr.Chips

Tommy Thompson

U.S. Senate candidate Tommy Thompson touts NRA endorsement in Bellevue [More]

You remember Tommy: He's the guy who profited off a venture that wants to stick chips in us and volunteered to implant one himself to prove they're safe--until he backed out without fanfare because he "was too busy."

Why look: When entrusted with political power, he also signed predator empowerment zone legislation.

And he's got an extended record of opposing concealed carry.

So naturally, he deserves an "A" rating.  Because he says he went deer hunting with his grandfather.  And besides, his opponent is really really REALLY anti-gun.

It truly is down to this.

Stayin' Alive

Otto acknowledged TexasGOPVote's role in reporting this scandal early on and keeping the story alive until picked up nationally by CBS reporter Sharyl Attkisson. [More
Huh. That's more than NRA's ever done for us.
