We're the Only Ones Fingering Suspects Enough

Rectum? Damn near killed 'em. [Read]

It's hard for those who aren't sadistic deviants to believe such foul, degenerate creatures exist, let alone that they wear badges.  But the institutional silence screams that in some circles, perverted torture is no rarity, and everybody keeping their mouths shut about it is the norm.

Check out some of the supportive comments for the "heroes" in this account.

Daily Double

Mitt made an appearance just down the road from me.  I wanted to go, but last night was the scheduled online test for Jeopardy. I always do real well watching, typically holding my own against most of the contestants (admittedly with no pressure), so the wife thought I should give it a try, and I was curious enough to want to see how I'd do.

Man, did I fall on my face. I doubt I answered even a third of the questions correctly, so there's no danger I made it to the audition phase.  Some of the stuff, I just can't imagine who would know it.  Others I knew but could not retrieve in time.  But bottom line, I felt like this.

As for Mitt, there's no way I'd have been able to approach close enough to tell him what I expect in the form of a question anyway.

Where Do They Go to Get Credentialed?

Oliphant said encouraging parents to be curious motivates them to re-evaluate gun safety in their own house: whether guns are stored in a locked place away from children, whether they are unloaded and whether ammunition is stored separately. [More]
I wonder if Oliphant and his cadre of supportive hoplophobologists would mind signing one of these...?

Vanderboegh Update

My friend Mike Vanderboegh: Winning friends and influencing people wherever he goes...:) [Read]

It seems like he had legitimate observations though, that merit discussion. I have no idea why they wouldn't allow them, especially since he has sourced knowledge about the inner workings of ATF from Bureau insiders and has done more reporting on that than anybody else in the room. And if you can't address the question he wanted to ask at a Gun Rights Policy Conference, where can you ask it?

As I wrote on Sunday, the conference was recorded.  I'm trying to see if that exchange made the cut so I can listen to it for myself, and share it with you. We'll see.

In other Mike news, note he starts out with a health report update--he suffered a mini-stroke at the conference, the cause of the severe vertigo. I spoke with him an hour ago and he's going in for another scan as I write this.

UPDATE: Here's the Q&A audio.  I'm trying to figure out why anyone would have a problem having this public discussion.

This Day in History: October 10

I think it highly probable the Enemy will pursue this fall and Winter, especially during the latter, as they will not be under any apprehension of the force we shall then have in this quarter; and will be at liberty to make almost any detachments they please. The dissolution of half our Army last fall and Winter enabled them to make the Detachments they did against Charles Town, which has involved so many serious consequences, and the same cause will put them in a condition to push their operations or at least to attempt it, in the course of this, in the Southern States.
