We're the Only Ones Unexpected Enough

An Important Deterrent

Don't let your guard down because of this.  [More]

They still question if right to carry reduces crime, and then dovetail off into an unfounded enthusiasm for "smart guns."

We know what the goal is. And we also know they haven't even mentioned the most important deterrent -- nor will they.

The Expendables

The strategic brilliance of declaring war on those who grow your food and sign your checks might be lost on Sun Tzu. [More]
Thing is, they're just pawns, useful to gin up mob fury needed by the propaganda apparatus, and as a diversion. The real strategy of their manipulators will be played out under cover of all the sound and fury. And those cynical string-pullers will not only not mind roused rabble casualties, they'll be counting on them.

We're the Only Ones Engaged Enough

False Promises

S. 1290: A bill to protect victims of stalking from gun violence.

Like this will protect anybody from a determined stalker with a gun.

H.R. 2665: To ensure secure gun storage and gun safety devices.

Like this won't ensure determined assailants have a head start advantage.

Not Quite Clear on the Concept

Good basic idea, except for that "license" part. [More]

That and I would think, aside from hobbyist toys, the serious government stuff would be way too high up.  It reminds me of a story I heard from when the theocracy first took over Iran after the Shah fled, and they ordered the air force to shoot down U.S. spy satellites.

I'm actually seeing a lot of potential for liberty-minded people to embrace such technology's early warning and counter-surveillance capabilities. And more.

Check this out. Naturally, the FAA is looking to discourage and control.

Good luck with that.

Free North Carolina talks about a boyhood hero of mine. [More]

I actually met Clayton Moore when I was 10, and what a perfect age that was for the encounter.  We were on home leave from my Dad's foreign job assignment and staying at a motel for a several weeks, and he was in the very next room for a few days while he did an appearance at a local amusement park.

Nice man. Patient with us. Dignified. Conscious of his responsibilities as a role model.  Compare that to what we see today.

I really only have one beef with the character he played... (UPDATE: If that link doesn't work, I wrote about this again a few years later.)

Temporarily Closed

Sipsey Street, that is...

Mike called.  His computer is still not working properly, and he's going to have to post from the library.  Only problem with that is he got a flat tire and has to get that taken care of first.

It never rains, it pours. At least he was able to get a new phone yesterday, so he's not completely off the grid.

All that plus his health issues take a toll, including a financial one.  I continue to implore those who get value from his work to help him reopen Sipsey Street and keep it in good repair.
