Personal matters (and no, it's not a medical issue) require my undivided attention. I don't plan on posting again until the 19th or so. As such, I won't be responding to emails or social media queries, or following up on news tips and the like. I'm also going to be turning off comments to this blog until I resume operations.
Broward County Sheriff Calls for ‘No Guns’ List for ‘Mentally Ill’ after Ft. Lauderdale Airport Murders
“Something has got to change,” Sheriff Israel told the Sun Sentinel, ignoring that reality, and leaving what that “something” is unsaid. “Israel didn’t know what form the laws should take, but said people diagnosed with mental-health issues, ‘should be put on some type of list that it’s mandatory that they not come in possession of firearms.’”The “progressive” solution to evil in a “gun-free zone” is more victim pool disarmament.
That’s right out of the “something must be done” playbook, and that opens the door to “anything goes.” Which, of course, is the plan. [More]
We're the Only Ones Forming a Perimeter Enough
There is an armed TSA bureaucrat sitting at a desk where you exit the terminal area and go into baggage claim. He sits about ten paces from the first baggage carousel, where the shootings occurred. Despite this, the news is reporting that the Fort Lauderdale shooter reloaded twice, and then when he ran out of ammo began walking out of the airport, at which point the cops finally emerged from their “perimeter” and arrested him. But not after he murdered five people and shot eight others without any interference at all by the TSA, state police, or county cops who are always crawling all over the Fort Lauderdale airport like ants at a picnic. [More]Hey, if they'd confronted him, think of how much worse it could have been! And if trained professionals feel that way, imagine the carnage if amateurs tried to get involved. Especially if they're haters. Besides, it's more important for some people to make it home than others.

If this guy has been afforded due process and been proven, through wanton banana peel littering, to be too dangerous to be trusted with a gun, what's he doing without a custodian?

We already have a significant portion of the population unemployable due to lack of marketable skills, with many also disqualified due to lack of requisite morality, making them a danger to have around.
So: What's the non-Luddite/non-coercive workaround? And will there be enough positions for the motivated and capable to strive for, particularly as things exponentially snowball?
