WARNING: Totalitarians May Be Hazardous to Your Health

The plan is modeled after the surgeon general’s warning required on cigarettes. [More]
Yeah, after all those years and all that unconstitutional interference, does anybody have a handle on how many lives have been saved because people were persuaded to change their behavior by a label?

And this is setting the stage for discrimination lawsuits because the warnings did not also come in Spanish, Arabic, Somali...

Here's a challenge for Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito.* It's something I like to ask all self-appointed "experts" who have zero experience-based knowledge:

You're in your office and you suddenly hear a series of loud bangs, possibly followed by terrified screaming and sounds of panicked people trying to escape. Then you hear more bangs, closer this time, and maybe some hysterical pleading or moans of agony. Whatever it is, it's coming your way, approaching your position. It will be upon you in a matter of several seconds.

What are you personally prepared to do about it?

* Curiously, Ms. Hyphenated-Name and those like her perfectly fit the term "apodictator," which I just coined this morning after receiving a forward of Merriam-Webster's "Word for the Day" email featuring the term "apodictic." The definition made me think of the utter certainty with which control freak collectivists mandate their prescriptions to force their "fixes" on everyone. (Confession: Actually, my first thought was that old Little Rascals joke.)

What, no pussy hat marches or candlelight vigils?

This is a perfect opportunity to go in, make some friends, offer some professional training, and prove to them who their political enemies are. Because as things stand now, the Meadowview, Fruitridge, and Pocket neighborhoods are solid blue.

What the hell is wrong with people? How are there enough deviant freaks where there's even a market for this?

Lone Survivor

Today we investigate the incredible case of a US federal agent who survived a brutal attack by Mexican drug cartel thugs. It shows how violent cartels are wreaking havoc south of the border. But it also says a lot about serious shortfalls inside the US government which is still stonewalling on unanswered questions -- six long years later. [More]

58% Have Political Views They’re Afraid to Share [More]
And of the 42% who aren't, chances are their breakdown mirrors the same percentage of the "popular vote" that went to Hillary, and the remainder is by no means unified.

Absolutist Incrementalism

The "slippery slope" goal is the same: Control.

In the mean time, every incremental step is couched as common sense reform. And opposition is couched as extremism and worse.

Good thing this has nothing to do with that "single issue."
