Ohio 'Guns and Alcohol' Bill Exemplifies More Widespread Republican Problems Nationwide with RKBA

Nor have they developed an effective methodology to consistently “primary” the cheaters with acceptable candidates. And in the case of out-and-out double-crossers like New York-born state senator Bill Galvano of Florida, if a Democrat does win the general, in the words of Hillary Clinton, “What difference does it make?” The guy shouldn’t be able to get elected dog catcher, and Republicans need to grok that if they want our support, they’ll need to field someone else or feel our pain. [More]
Yes, Democrats are the party of citizen disarmament. But Republicans produce their share of enemies, and we need to find a way to consistently purge them from the ranks instead of accepting betrayal as a lesser evil we must tolerate.

This is My No-No Square!

I was going to see what Tommy Lee had to say, but I think I'll let Mr. H handle this one:

The Cuccinelli Loophole

Here’s the reason this latest decision, largely impacting the flow of immigrants and refugees, is important to Second Amendment rights. Trump did exactly the same thing in bypassing the lawfully designated “first assistant” to the Attorney General when Jeff Sessions resigned. He appointed Matthew Whitaker, bypassing the Deputy Attorney General at the time.
Whitaker, as acting AG, oversaw the rule-making for the “bump-stock-type devices ban, and signed it on December 18, 2018. It took effect on march 26, 2019.
If, like Cuccinelli, Whitaker wasn’t lawfully appointed to the acting position, then the actions he took in that role have no effect. The administration has tried to dodge that problem by having newly confirmed Attorney General Barr “ratify” the bump stock ban by signing it again. [More]
Oooh, good point. Be great if it voided this.

Lemme run it by my lawyer.

If You See Something, Say Something

Los Angeles DA's husband pulled gun on Black Lives Matters protesters [More]
He was clearly not under a threat to warrant that reaction and had ignored the most basic rule of gun safety with his finger on the trigger, even when he lowered the weapon.

This looks like a cut-and-dried violation of 417 PC:
“Every person who, except in self-defense, in the presence of any other person, draws or exhibits any deadly weapon whatsoever, other than a firearm, in a rude, angry, or threatening manner, or who in any manner, unlawfully uses a deadly weapon other than a firearm in any fight or quarrel is guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by imprisonment in a county jail for not less than 30 days.
Now imagine if a white Republican who supported NRA did this against a group of black protestors. Not only would he and his wife's careers be destroyed, but there would also be screams for hie head and demands to prosecute -- as there should be.

And the thing is, it's not up to the offended party to make the decision to press charges at this point. On criminal charges, it's "The State vs...."

Join me in supporting equal treatment of all and demanding LAPD investigate and that the DA's office recuse itself from prosecution decisions.

Wrong. We know that bump stocks were attached to some of the recovered weapons, but it has not been officially acknowledged that those were the guns used. As a matter of fact, they've deliberately avoided answering the question.

The Long and Short of It

Received via Messenger:
I was told in the past you couldn’t legally conceal a handgun greater than 12” oal. I’m struggling finding a law to verify this. Do you know?
Offhand, I don't. My first impulse is to think it must be about short-barrel rifle lengths or possibly some state restrictions or else I am missing something obvious I'll forehead slap myself over when someone explains it to me. My second impulse is to wonder if it has anything to do with specialty builds like the "Mare's Leg" repro.

Anyway, here was my response:
I do not know of such a law but my challenge would be to the person claiming such to provide a link to validate the claim. I will ask around though.
I'm asking around. Edumacate me.
