We're from the Government--We're Here to Endanger

Capt. Steve Sevier, National Security Chairman for the U.S. Airline Pilots Association, said the problem stems from a holster and locking mechanism pilots are required to utilize.

"There have been several accidental discharges related to the holster and procedures involved where a lock has caused the firearm to discharge," said Sevier. "Not the operator's finger or anything like that."

In fact, the government has known of the potentially deadly flaw for at least two full years. [More]

Sounds like deliberate indifference to me. They don't want pilots armed, so by God, they're going to make it as dangerous as possible. Unless you believe the bureaucrats are actually this lazy, unmotivated and stupid.

Government regulations making things more dangerous. Welcome to the Bizarro World.

Not Just Wrong, Evil

I wish they'd get get that part right. [More]

Al Gore certainly is a cowardly POS, is he not? Only in the Bizarro World could a scoundrel like this occupy a place of prominence.

No wonder this country is so screwed up.

Cry, the Betrayed Country

Gangs of South African men are raping lesbians in the belief it will "cure" the women's sexual orientation, an aid agency said Friday. [More]
This was sent to me by Mama Liberty, who noted:
And, of course, nobody at NBC would be caught dead suggesting that these women might easily defend themselves from rape and murder if they were suitably armed. Can't have that.
It's actually worse than that. In the Bizarro world of globalist feminism, the biggest enabler the rapists have are the women's advocacy groups that purport to represent the victims.

Think I'm exaggerating?

Set aside a few minutes to think again.

Life on the Bizarro World

Mal Soon Jin, a Korean woman who has lived in the United States for 20 years and run a fruit store with her husband, was minutes away from a moment that looms large for many immigrants in their quest for the American Dream: the naturalization ceremony that would make her a United States citizen.

But when she walked into the marble lobby of United States District Court in Brooklyn about 8 a.m. yesterday to take the oath, and placed her handbag on the X-ray machine’s conveyor belt, she hit a snag. A court security officer operating the machine spotted an unloaded five-shot .22-caliber silver derringer in a zippered compartment in her handbag, according to the authorities.

As a result, Ms. Jin did not attend the morning naturalization ceremony on the second floor with hundreds of other soon-to-be citizens. Instead, she was arraigned on federal gun charges in a smaller courtroom, just steps away on the second floor.

Talk about someone I want to have as a fellow citizen. She has been a productive and contributing member of society for 20 years, she knows from experience that she must not only take care of herself economically but also in terms of personal security, she is exercising her right and obligation to do that as a free and sovereign individual, and she wishes to be one of us.

So instead, this "free" society she wishes to be one with will now attempt to destroy her life.

Dueling Amendments

The state's highest court ruled Friday that the University of Utah has no right to ban guns on campus, rejecting the argument that prohibiting firearms is part of the school's power to control academic affairs...

But no one will be permitted to carry a gun anytime soon on the campus, home to more than 44,000 students, faculty and staff members. Friday's ruling resolved only the state issues involved in the matter; the case now goes back to U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City for litigation of federal constitutional issues.

The delay is welcome to Landon Smith and Minna Shim, U. students who say they support the ban, which has been in place for almost three decades.

"It scares the hell out of me," said Smith, a senior in communication. "I don't want some cowboy coming to class with a gun."

Shim, an undeclared freshman, said, "I don't feel a threat here now, but if there are concealed weapons around, I'd be afraid."

U. President Michael Young said he was disappointed by the decision.

"Universities across the country uniformly prohibit guns on campus," he said. "We hope that, following a review of this case in federal court, the issue will be resolved to uphold our long-standing policy of keeping firearms off campus."

The U. is arguing that any interference with its gun policy violates its right to academic freedom guaranteed by the First and 14th amendments.

I'm sorry, Landon and Minna, that your bigotry and enuresis aren't deemed sufficient justification to define the rights of free sovereign individuals who aren't pathetic, ignorant and immature.

I also love how "authorized journalists" Pamela Manson and Sheena McFarland somehow couldn't investigate deep enough into the subject to find some reasons why carrying a gun on campus might not be such a bad idea. I'm sure it's because no victimization ever occurs there...

But the real danger of this story isn't with the snivelers--it's with the legal approach employed by the university: Dueling amendments. We are truly living in the Bizarro world when the First and Fourteenth are seriously proposed as counterweights to the Second.

To say the least, it will be interesting to see what the District Court does with this.

Update: Stan shares his thoughts.

How Very Inappropriate!

A “Red Army” vodka drink with packaging modelled on a Kalashnikov rifle has been found by regulators to be inappropriate. [More]
A mindlessly bizarro zero tolerance control freak like redundant (but well-compensated for it) Duncan McCausland, chair of the Independent Complaints Panel, sounds for all the world to me more like Diana Moon Glampers than anything.

No wonder...

Million Moon March Gallery III

Blognomicon notes an inconsistency with Control Arms' acceptance policies. Apparently, a screenshot over at Thus I Have Spoken showed a graphic (©Oleg Volk) from the Million Faces website that they had rejected when he submitted it. Oh well, it's there now.

Captain of a Crew of One
finally got some respect for a Nobel Prize nominee and gun control advocate. Tookie thinks if world governments "get tough on arms," his tough arms will be the only ones wielding a shotgun as he blasts his helpless victims to death. The Million Facers want to give Tookie that advantage.

The Captain also treats us to some other men whose identical costumes make them appear to be fraternity brothers, or members of the same club or something. Since Control Arms added their pictures to their gallery of supporters, perhaps they're members of some peace group...?

Anyway, meet Gat:

DOA:

Firstdegree:

and--well wad'dya know--same name--we'll just call him Bizarro Firstdegree:

With names like that, they're probably a boy band. And maybe "Make Me Safe From Armed Violence" is the title of their new hit single...?

The Captain also links us to this entry from "Kristopher" (not sure if this is another Oleg masterpiece or not, but will mention it with gratitude for whoever deserves credit for this great photo):

Here's another one the Captain found, where "Jack" lets all those Control Arms supporters know what will happen when they abdicate responsibility for their own protection and rely completely on the government. Obviously, anyone who would do such a thing doesn't know Jack.

[If anyone knows who should be credited for this poster, please advise.]

Finally, the Captain found this picture of Neil, who has discovered a side benefit to victims being disarmed: Free transatlantic flights on Gulf Stream jets!

I note from comments on the Captain's post that Fish Or Man--who points us to a "Control Arms Success Story"-- may have been involved in posting some of these? I want to make sure everyone gets proper credit and no one feels snubbed--so if the Million Faces posts your picture, please drop me a line to let me know.

Fodder over at Ride Fast & Shoot Straight is having success with a Teutonic theme.

The Million Facers join in saying "Heil!" to Reinhard (as in SS Obergruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich):

and Josef (Goebbels, that is):

-------
Interlineated Update: Somebody at Control Arms must have recognized Reinhard and Josef, because they have been replaced with the placard-holding silhouettes--in other words, they will happily add them to their numbers of supporters, but prefer to mask their identities from embarrassing scrutiny. How very telling.

-------

As we've noted before, Thus I Have Spoken is the place to go for screenshots:

Steamdragon is trying another novel tack--victims of government "gun control" enforcement. If Control Arms succeeds in getting more citizen disarmament laws passed, you can bet there will be plenty more opportunities for new Waco and Ruby Ridge-type massacres--for the children.

Why look--here's the Weaver family:

SD--be sure and let us know if any of your Mount Carmel victims make it, OK? People need to know about the lovely young lives snuffed out by government enforcing existing gun laws--and understand that adding global edicts into the mix will certainly add to the toll of victims.

He also managed to get Elian accepted. The last time we saw him, the poor kid was crying in terror from armed violence:

It also looks like Tookie got his name in twice. Sneaky Tookie! People can't turn their backs on you for a second, can they? What a card!

Likewise, "Jeff" has now made his second appearance. I think the first time, he went simply by "D." Oh well, call him anything--just don't call him late for dinner!

Nicki continues the "Predators on Parade" theme, and got a nice "thank you" addressed to "Joe Tito" from his pals at Control Arms. I cracked up when I realized she posted this on their "Yugoslavia" page.

Fun Bob also had fun with the predator angle. I knew he submitted Nazi mass murderer Adolf Eichmann, aka "Ricardo." I just couldn't believe Control Arms would post it, along with a heartfelt plea to be made safe from armed violence.

Meanwhile, Jeremy H. is on an emotional rollercoaster after being continuously rejected by the Million Faces campaign. They seem to like terrorists, Nazis, child molesters, criminals and murderers, but they didn't like seeing Jeremy happy--which I can understand--or fearful--which, considering their natural state, is surprising. Here, Jeremy wants to assure them that when it comes to guns, he feels their pain.

At least Jeremy's submission of Saddam crony Ibrahim al-Duri was acceptable. Jeremy--I think I know what your problem is. You need to go help gas a bunch of Kurds first, and then resubmit your pictures.

Still, Jeremy shouldn't feel alone. Bill Clark also knows the sting of rejection, which is too bad, because these guys are part of the same dreamy boy band that the Million Faces went gaga over, above.

I guess I just don't understand why Control Arms rejected these last two. I mean, who wouldn't want to give up their guns after seeing these guys?

Keep 'em coming--I think we're having an effect because I see many new submissions from the antis--and they look like they were all taken at the same convention or something--which could mean they are aware and countering. The switching of Reinhard and Josef seems to confirm this.

Thanks to those of you who have supported this, and if you're one who hasn't yet, come on--join the fun. It'll take you less than 5 minutes and won't cost a dime. When have you ever been solicited for a 2A cause where that was all that was asked of you?
