The Redeemed

Buckeye Firearms Association PAC Endorses Mike DeWine for Governor [More]
Because if we can't trust a past Brady Campaign endorsee, who can we trust?

Oh, but he's changed?

Can't prove it by me.

His deliberate indifference to ensuring police know the law in re open carry is still leaving gun owners at risk from overzealous Ohio "Only Ones."

Besides, can anyone produce a public apology for past transgressions where he admitted he was wrong, explained why to show he understood, and begged forgiveness of those he betrayed?

And lest we forget:

  • Voted YES on establishing a Guest Worker program.
  • Voted YES on allowing illegal aliens to participate in Social Security.
  • Voted YES on giving Guest Workers a path to citizenship.
  • Voted YES on allowing more foreign workers into the US for farm work.
  • Voted YES on visas for skilled workers.
  • Cover child resident aliens under Medicaid and SCHIP.

Fortunately, none of this has anything to do with that "single issue."

I mean, it's not like that sets Ohio on course to turn blue a few years down the road, right, BFA?

We're the Only Ones Adding Fuel to the Fire Enough

Just in time for the Ferguson announcement! [More]

Went for his waistband? That's a new one!

As I've noted before, I had more freedom as a boy in the Shah's Iran than most children do today in the land of the Second Amendment.

Fun times in Cleveland again...

Thing is, this is the second shooting of a person of color with a non-firearm by Ohio "Only Ones" that's occurred after AG Mike DeWine washed his hands of making sure they are properly trained on dealing with citizens they see with guns...

The attorney for John Crawford's family never acknowledged this, so I don't know if he's going to pursue it:

Perhaps attorney Timothy J. Kucharski representing the family of Tamir Rice will show some interest. Because it seems all the "legitimate news media" wants to do is point out there was no orange tip, repeat the waistband allegation, and not tell us the names of "the officers [who] have been placed on administrative leave."

And So It Begins

I know, pretty dumb sticker.

There was a good turnout at 6:45 a.m., 15 minutes after the polls opened. If that's any indication of how the day will proceed, there will be lines -- at least in my neck of the woods.

Yo, Mike DeWine: I abstained from voting for AG.  You exemplify where I draw the line.

And yeah, I also know the "choices" I did go with are hardly perfect.

Neither am I.

Ohio AG DeWine washes hands of responsibility to address ‘double tapping’ cops

Wait a minute: The AG making it known not to shoot innocent citizens for exercising their lawful rights requires a vote by politicians? What if they vote that it’s OK? And Ohio cops need “special training” beyond telling them not to? [More]
Today’s Gun Rights Examiner report notes some deliberate indifference from Ohio’s chief LEO when it comes to “Only Ones” joking about shooting us, and wonders if he’d be so uncaring if we joked back...

Today's One-Minute Activism

You too can ask AG Dewine to get off the stick on this: https://www.facebook.com/MikeDeWine .

That is, assuming you're not one of those gun owners who refuses to get involved with anything related to "social media."  Here's what I said to one who fears hackers if he does use such sites, like that's the only place someone who knows what he's doing could render the rest of us vulnerable:
You shouldn't use them for trivial crap.  But if you refuse to use it as a tool in the fight, you're ceding an entire battlespace to the enemy:
http://www.examiner.com/article/gun-owners-squandering-valuable-resources-by-ignoring-social-media

I was able to use Twitter and Facebook today to good effect:
http://waronguns.blogspot.com/2014/05/todays-five-minute-activism_29.html

It allowed my piece on Isla Vista to go viral, and reach far more people than I can on my own.  When trying to get my voice out there competing with establishment media, there is just no other way.

It's real simple--you only make "friends" with people you can check on -- for instance, I always look at what they post before accepting a friend request so I don't accept any antis, haters or obvious loons, you cut off anybody who turns out to be an @$$h01e, and you don't post personal details.

It ain't about ego and Look At Me, it's about using the signal. for a purpose.
I was not that good about following my own advice early on. I'm getting better.

OH AG Candidate Dave Yost Answers Gun Rights Questionnaire

Before commenting begins, I want to throw something into the mix for your consideration: The other Republican contender, Mike DeWine, might as well be on the Brady Campaign payroll. I can think of no stronger message to send the Republican establishment than to let them know anti-gunners will no longer be tolerated, so they'd better stop offering them. [More]
This is today's second Gun Rights Examiner column, written as a follow-up to my earlier offering.

The guy did not do badly--I know some will argue over "weapons under disability" (I argue against that all the time myself), but it's amazing to me he came up with so much I agree with him on--and then factor in the RINO subversive running against him.

I'm also amazed at how many politicians running for significant offices are responding to this questionnaire. I've been doing it for years from this blog--I guess being able to run it on Examiner.com has made a difference.

This, to me, is a perfect opportunity for political CUM ULLA SELLA IN PUGNO TABERNA, and in this case, we've got a pretty nice chair

Also get the latest from my fellow GREs.

Put a Hold on Holder

From Mike Vanderboegh:
Of course this comes as no surprise to anyone, but of all the people BHO seeks to surround himself with in DC, Eric Holder as the nominee for Attorney General has to be the most offensive stench in the nostrils of free men and women.
From Jeff Knox:
Eric Holder, Barack Obama’s nominee for Attorney General, is a totally unacceptable choice and needs to be strongly opposed by the Second Amendment community and all lovers of liberty.
Write your senator on this and demand to know where they stand. If they blow you off with boilerplate weasel words, write them again, more strongly.

I don't care if your senator is Dianne Feinstein or Hillary Clinton. Don't use that as an excuse to do nothing. Write them anyway and get your friends to do it and make it a roar that will at least give them pause.

Here's a perfect opportunity to prove the value of the pragmatic position. Denying obama a key nominee right out of the starting gate is important tactically, and important psychologically -- both to encourage our side and cause uncertainty for theirs. What will it tell us if it's blown, as so much has been, due to apathy?

I understand a key guy to work on is George Voinovich. He's been no friend, so it's time to remind this guy what happened to Mike DeWine.

I also see our old friend Richard Lugar is another holdback.

No excuses. Just take a few minutes and do this.

DeWine Whines

"In a lengthy speech on the Senate floor, the former Greene County prosecutor lashed out at the bill, which would require gun victims to prove that a crime had been committed before they could bring a civil lawsuit against the firearms industry." [More]

We can't have that, can we? No, we want to sue people who have complied with all the state and federal laws.

I'm originally from Ohio. If I still lived there, I'd be doing my best to put this fascist out to pasture--even if it meant letting a Sara Brady democrat win for a cycle. There is no other way to teach Ohio republicans the lesson that a choice unacceptable to gun owners will always lose.

I wish there was a way to convince all republicans of the same. Some of us do what we can, but fear of democrats seems to cow most people into settling for a perceived lesser evil.

Until we change that, nothing else will change. It doesn't have to.
