Justice Delayed, Justice Denied

Jeff Knox does a superb job of weaving all of the complicated points and events into a comprehensive summary narrative that brings us up to date on the travesty that is the Reese case, and the injustices they are still facing. [More]

He's the only one talking about this* besides yours truly and the Tea Party Patriots of Luna County. Why do you suppose that is?

To give you an idea on "legitimate media/Authorized Journalist" priorities, if you do a Google news feed search for the term "Reese," you will learn all about actress Witherspoon's "bikini body" in story after story after story.

I guess that's why they're "real reporters," deserving of special Feinsteinian status and protections, and we're not.

*I am reminded Matt Bracken champions the Reese family on Facebook.

OIG Fast and Furious report requires analysis before media jumps to conclusions

At this point, more questions can be raised than answered, particularly as the report totaling over 500 pages with attachments must be read, digested, and understood before meaningful analysis can take place. That has not stopped the search term “clears Holder” from already becoming the meme du jour on the “Authorized Journalist” Google News feed... [More]
This afternoon's Gun Rights Examiner report notes a lot of people who don't know what the hell they're talking about are tripping all over each other pronouncing conclusions.

UPDATE: Vanderboegh uses the "W" word.

The Incredible Shrinking SEO

I've talked about this before, several times.  I do Google searches on my name, including on their "news" feed, to see how the work is propagating and how discoverable it is. Despite creating more output for more outlets than ever, my numbers keep going significantly down. Just a few short months ago, a general search would produce around 200K hits and a "News" search over 86K.

It's been going down at an accelerated rate and in large chunks. This is what I saw a moment ago:
It's not just about me and my ego. I have a legitimate interest to see how the efforts are escaping the niche and the public does, too, especially when the suppressed information is exclusive and concerns us all.

I can't explain what's going on, all I can do is observe that something is.  Anyone with knowledge of how this stuff works care to explain?

Why Did 'Progressives' Push Through Antitrust Laws Again?

Google is a monopoly — and it's crushing the internet [More]
It  also removed my Virginia Tech AmmoLand article from its news feed. Ah well -- knowing me, it was probably "fake news" anyway.

Here Today, Gone Tomorrow

Here's more evidence Google is removing my articles from its "News" feed:

This is the result from a news search for the exact term "Harvey Weinstein" yesterday:

Here's the same search today:

Ways to bypass the gatekeepers are being closed off, too. We've recently seen the way social media restricts information, through censorship and through snitches.

A few years back, it was identified that "90% of what we watch, read or listen to" came from six oligarch entities.

That's clearly not enough for those who would control all.

Knowing @Jack

Whether or not he’s comfortable in the role, Dorsey seems to have realized the necessity of being less ambivalent about what he’ll allow on the service he created. [More]
Another Keeper heard from...

It's a real bind for we small fry "content producers" talking about stuff the DSM won't. I tried MeWe as a Facebook alternative and Gab as a Twitter replacement and can't say I've seen any resulting article traffic worth my time to deal with either, and that's the only reason I bother with "social media." I do, however, seem to attract an inordinate amount of sex spammers using voluptuous avatars to mask that they're probably Chechen hackers or Nigerian phishers.

Add Google News moderators removing my stuff from their feed and guys like me are pretty much limited in reach to site visitors, only a handful of whom take it on themselves to share links. I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop and find blogs like this are targets of complaints and not only no longer "welcome," but removed without notice. It's happened before.

Ah well, things'll probably run a lot more smoothly without extremist malcontents trying to gum up the works and when the tolerant diversity of approved groupthink rules the day. We'll certainly avoid a lot of unnecessary unpleasantness for all parties concerned:

Preaching to the Choir?

Sorry, I differentiate between the audience and the choir, the latter being the people actually making a commitment, spending time and doing something.  Beyond posting comments. [More]

As for spreading the message beyond gun owners, even if Google doesn't remove one of my pieces from its news feed, I can only do so much, and use what platforms I have, including social media. Beyond that, it's up to people who get value from the work to share it with a wider readership.

It's not like I've made a secret of what I ask for from them.

I can think of a lot of ways to get the word out beyond the niche. I'm sure plenty of WarOnGuns regulars can, too.

The question is, will they? Be part of the choir...?

Now You See It, Now You Don't

Gavin Newsom updated his Super Bowl contest entry page:

He entered the "no purchase necessary" information  after I sent him the link to my AmmoLand piece noting its absence. Unsurprisingly, I soon noticed he deleted the link from his Facebook page...

So I added it back this morning:

And lo and behold, it was quickly removed again:

His page, his rules?

When used for political purposes, other rules must also be considered.  And even Google recognizes the editorial as qualifying for its news feed.

I may have more to say on this...

To Prove My Point

I talked about the scarcity of news reports about the plight of the Reese family in today's GRE, noting aside form a few of us #justabloggers, the "real reporters" just aren't interested.

There are numerous references for them on a Google web search, but if you confine your search to the Google new feed, look what happens.

I rest my case.

On Somebody's List

I'm noting with increasing frequency replies I give on Facebook that include links -- to people who contacted me -- are being marked as "spam." And now Google isn't even bothering to take my stuff off its news tab feed any more -- it's not letting it up in the first place.

This is part of a wider effort. I don't know if there is anything that can be done about it besides this, and yes, I've tried alternatives and they just don't have the numbers.
