The Incredible Shrinking SEO

I've talked about this before, several times.  I do Google searches on my name, including on their "news" feed, to see how the work is propagating and how discoverable it is. Despite creating more output for more outlets than ever, my numbers keep going significantly down. Just a few short months ago, a general search would produce around 200K hits and a "News" search over 86K.

It's been going down at an accelerated rate and in large chunks. This is what I saw a moment ago:
It's not just about me and my ego. I have a legitimate interest to see how the efforts are escaping the niche and the public does, too, especially when the suppressed information is exclusive and concerns us all.

I can't explain what's going on, all I can do is observe that something is.  Anyone with knowledge of how this stuff works care to explain?

Up to His -- and Their -- Old Tricks

Report on F.B.I. Russia Inquiry Finds Serious Errors but Debunks Anti-Trump Plot ...He also exonerated former F.B.I. leaders, broadly rejecting Mr. Trump’s accusations that they engaged in a politicized conspiracy to sabotage him. [More]
Did it really "debunk"?  Did he really "exonerate"?
We did not find documentary or testimonial evidence that political bias or improper motivation influenced” officials’ decision to open the investigation, the report said.
That they did not find something is not the same as proving it does not exist.

Horowitz -- you gotta understand who the guy is and where he's coming from.

You gotta understand he pulled the same crap on his "Gunwalker" report:
Case in point, Chapter One of the report identifies key individuals who declined to be interviewed ... Simlarly of significance, and hardly surprising to those following this story, the report notes “The White House did not produce to us any internal White House communications, noting that “’the White House is beyond the purview of the Inspector General’s Office, which has jurisdiction over Department of Justice programs and personnel.’”
The result?
That has not stopped the search term “clears Holder” from already becoming the meme du jour on the “Authorized Journalist” Google News feed, meaning it will soon become “common knowledge’ among those who are not long-term and in-depth observers.
It's all a continuing con job that most are oblivious to. Of the remainder, most will excuse and even champion it, and of the ones who don't, most will do nothing about it.

You CAN Stop the Signal?

I will be interested to see if this happens again, and'/or with any others of my online friends. Having been subjected to Google News feed blackouts and Facebook "community standards" rejections, I'm starting to feel like I'm at the end point of a Goldfinger quote.

Funny. Attack pieces on RKBA don't seem to have these problems...

Who Rang That Bell?

DOCUMENTS DETAILING GOOGLE’S ‘NEWS BLACKLIST’ SHOW MANUAL MANIPULATION OF SPECIAL SEARCH RESULTS [More]
Gatekeepers for what gets in, eh?

I can't swear it's related, but I know that numbers for my name searches to see how the stuff is propagating vary widely day-to-day and my articles have a"habit" of disappearing from the Google News feed.

The Will of la Gente

280,000 people are illegally registered to vote in Texas, according to the DPS database. Just over 4 million of the registered voters – or 30% of registered voters – DO NOT match up to the DPS database! Again, roughly 30% of all registered voters in Texas cannot be matched in DPS’s database! Just let that sink in! [More]
Anybody have any corroborating details? Because if we rely on Google's "News" feed, the problem doesn't exist.

Knowing @Jack

Whether or not he’s comfortable in the role, Dorsey seems to have realized the necessity of being less ambivalent about what he’ll allow on the service he created. [More]
Another Keeper heard from...

It's a real bind for we small fry "content producers" talking about stuff the DSM won't. I tried MeWe as a Facebook alternative and Gab as a Twitter replacement and can't say I've seen any resulting article traffic worth my time to deal with either, and that's the only reason I bother with "social media." I do, however, seem to attract an inordinate amount of sex spammers using voluptuous avatars to mask that they're probably Chechen hackers or Nigerian phishers.

Add Google News moderators removing my stuff from their feed and guys like me are pretty much limited in reach to site visitors, only a handful of whom take it on themselves to share links. I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop and find blogs like this are targets of complaints and not only no longer "welcome," but removed without notice. It's happened before.

Ah well, things'll probably run a lot more smoothly without extremist malcontents trying to gum up the works and when the tolerant diversity of approved groupthink rules the day. We'll certainly avoid a lot of unnecessary unpleasantness for all parties concerned:

Here We Go Again

"We are Here for you, students of Great Mills," Parkland student activist Emma Gonzalez tweeted, "together we can stop this from ever happening again." [More]
What a seasoned liar. Then again, with "progressives," every day is Opposite Day.

Here's Google's News feed, to keep up on breaking developments.

An "Only One," but I'll take it this time.

And They Spelled the Name Right

“Republican majorities are in the House and in the Senate, and a Republican president is in the White House. They wouldn’t be there were it not for gun owners,” David Codrea wrote on the blog Ammoland in late December. “We’re being asked to help provide cover to rationalize yet another Intolerable Act, and this one with the sanction of our ‘gun rights leaders.’” [More]
This one came out Jan. 9, but for some reason just now showed up on my Google News feed. Before accusing me of giving Bloomberg's The Trace an opening to attack NRA, ask yourself whose side in the "bump stock" debate is Fairfax on?

And Your Point Is?

David Codrea writes on the Oath Keepers website that Eric Holder is “back trying to make murdered schoolchildren do for his goals what murdered Mexicans could not: Disarm countrymen he loathes.” [More]
Yeah?  And you have insider sources who've told you different?

This Mantala character is turning into quite the follower.  On the plus side, he got my name right this time (and into the Google "News" feed), plus it drives more eyeballs to the site, so I'll take it.

Contrary to Popular Opinion

The only reason I've got spots 1 and 5 right now is because of this.  But the problem is, my stuff is a niche within a niche, regularly "vanished" off the Google News feed  and, of course, never given a boost by Fairfaxians and their admittedly more popular and "pragmatic" cheerleaders.

It is what it is. I get it.

Still, I'm going to take a shameless self-promotion moment and repeat:

If you get value from a piece and think others may as well, please share the link.

No 'There' There

However, McClatchy doesn’t actually have any evidence that Torshin sent funds to the NRA, or that the NRA had any idea of anything illegal going on... [More]
So in other words, it's fake news.

But the job is done, the meme is out there, and  the useful idiots are happily spreading that Russia interfered to elect Trump by illegally funneling money through NRA.

Just look at the Google News feed.  Each one of those stories is amplified by untold social media shares.

On Somebody's List

I'm noting with increasing frequency replies I give on Facebook that include links -- to people who contacted me -- are being marked as "spam." And now Google isn't even bothering to take my stuff off its news tab feed any more -- it's not letting it up in the first place.

This is part of a wider effort. I don't know if there is anything that can be done about it besides this, and yes, I've tried alternatives and they just don't have the numbers.

Now You See It, Now You Don't

Just a few days ago, my dissection of a law professor's lies about the Second Amendment was on the Google News feed:

Now it's been removed.

The masses will only be exposed to the lies. The truth will be confined to a niche echo chamber.

This is by design.

Now You See It, Now You Don't

This is what you used to see at that link for a few days:

This is what you see now:

Good ol' Google News feed...

You didn't want to know what your representatives are being told about ATF funding anyway.

As Expected

Aside from noting that no “legacy media” outfit is (yet) reporting on this... [More]
Based on my piece still being the only Google News feed entry, they apparently don't think the public has a need to know.

What else aren't we hearing about?

Lies of Omission

Yeah, well GUNS.

Funny how the Google News feed reveals such selective "reporting":
I wonder why that is...?

In the News

There's only one mention of the FOIA results on the NFRTR on the Google News feed -- the one that irrefutably establishes government is prosecuting citizens based on demonstrably unreliable data. [More]

Just that alone ought to concern all, particularly civil liberties watchdogs.  Narrowing things down more specifically, there's not a word from any of the national "gun rights" groups, nor do I see anything on so-called "conservative" sites specializing in rewording RKBA stories reported by others.

About that Fast and Furious Report from Oversight

Blah blah blah. [More]

Not that I expected anything different.

Or anything but more of the same.

Will anything actually be done? Will anyone be charged?

Sure, Fletcher. You can say it.

Check out the Google News feed. Fox News, Townhall and Washington Examiner, announcing Sessions is keeping out of it.  No one else in the "mass media" is interested -- just like last time. You get more hits for a Universal Orlando attraction based on the movie franchise, and for some reason, Wonder Woman.

If anyone is interested, it looks like the Internet Archive robots.txt issue has been worked out and you can still access the stuff Examiner.com deleted in order to transition over to the important work of sucking off cerlebrities.

Start here.

If anyone is interested.

Preaching to the Choir?

Sorry, I differentiate between the audience and the choir, the latter being the people actually making a commitment, spending time and doing something.  Beyond posting comments. [More]

As for spreading the message beyond gun owners, even if Google doesn't remove one of my pieces from its news feed, I can only do so much, and use what platforms I have, including social media. Beyond that, it's up to people who get value from the work to share it with a wider readership.

It's not like I've made a secret of what I ask for from them.

I can think of a lot of ways to get the word out beyond the niche. I'm sure plenty of WarOnGuns regulars can, too.

The question is, will they? Be part of the choir...?

Fake News Feed

Google, in its role as arbiter of what qualifies for its news feed, has decided that my exclusive on the federal judge declaring the New Jersey stun gun ban unconstitutional because it violates the Second Amendment, is not newsworthy.

As with my exclusive on the state AG making that admission, look for news feed presence on this latest development once Big Boy Media "reports" on it a few days later.
