A Negative Personality

Taking the negative will be Paul Helmke, former president and CEO of the Brady Center/Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. [More]
He's the right guy for it.

There's even one of Helmke ducking out and letting a brainless harridan do his debating for him.

The Real Solution

The real solution, he said, is for Congress to enact a new ban on assault weapons. "Then we wouldn't have to have an arms race going," he said.
No, Paul Helmke, although your desperation is understandable.

That's because the real solution has been demonstrated for the world to see, in the person of Jeanne Assam. Had it been you instead of her in that church, you Bradyites would have been able to claim more dead to raise funds off of. But you know in your heart that had it been you, you'd have been blubbering and helpless to do anything, as you and those around you were cut down at will by an assailant with no one to stop him and nothing to fear.

Helpless, Paul, and useless, a victim of your own unmanly, un-American cowardice. And no amount of whining and deception on your part will change that.

SCOTUS Denies Furious Mike

New York City’s nine-year lawsuit accusing gun makers of flooding illicit markets with their firearms came to an end on Monday, when the United States Supreme Court refused to consider a lower court’s dismissal of the case. [More]
Despite Jack Weinstein's best efforts...

Now I'm waiting for Helmke et al to spin this as removing the last objection to removing those Tiahrt Amendment restrictions on releasing records...

Hot Topic

Gun control is expected to become a hot topic for the US presidential election as the Supreme Court prepares to rule on a controversial handgun ban in the nation's capital.
Why not heat it up even more? The leading Democrat presidential candidates ought to be questioned on what they think the outcome of Heller should be, and their answer--or refusal to give an unequivocal one, ought to be publicized to "sportsmen".

I wouldn't expect this to cause much change within the GOP--even Rudy has made statements in support of Heller. This would be particularly damaging to the Dems, as they've been making noises recently to try and camouflage their tyrannical ambitions in re guns. This would be a way to approach the Democrat "sportsman" with proof that their candidate is so extreme they don't believe in a right to own guns at all--even at home.

It probably wouldn't make that big of a difference, but in politics, every percentage point counts toward tipping the scale, and who knows what damage could be engineered by loudly pointing out to duck hunters how their candidate is ducking an issue close to their hearts? Besides which, it would really be comical watching Paul Helmke and Peter Hamm try to spin it after their "judicial activism" tirades.

Bottom line: if it can hurt Hillary and Obama, why not?

This is Madness

A Virginia court found Cho to be dangerously mentally ill in 2005 and ordered him to receive outpatient treatment. But because Cho was not ordered into hospital treatment, the court's order was never provided to the FBI and incorporated in its database...

Now wait just a minute here: if he was "dangerously mentally ill," why didn't the court order him into a hospital, and why isn't he still there until deemed no longer a danger?

Isn't that the real issue?

And I love how "the FBI has more than doubled the number of people nationwide who are prohibited from buying guns," while Paul Helmke says it's not enough and the "list is missing four of every five Americans who have been ruled mentally dangerous to themselves or others."

Anybody see a trend emerging here, or wonder why "The Winning Team" is facilitating this...?

The Dirty Dozen

Statement Of Brady Campaign President Paul Helmke On Louisiana's Rejection Of Loaded, Concealed Handguns On College Campuses...

Nevertheless, over a dozen NRA A-rated members voted against this bill.
Do the Brady's have a point? And if so, why does it not surprise me?

Here's the vote.

I figure it's up to Louisiana gun activists to do a comprehensive match up for all the reps to find out who the dozen were, but I did a credibility test for 2008. Here are the NRA ratings and endorsement:

Yep, A-rated Nancy Landry and A-rated and endorsed Major Thibeau put out for the "other side".

Even after the Major One told us:
I am a strong advocate of the Second Amendment and a citizen’s right to keep and bear arms.
Sure you are, kid. Unless they are adults going to college.

So why haven't you explained yourself?

While I might be inclined to believe him if he told me life was like a box of chocolates, I see no reason why Forrest Lump here should ever again have any credibility on the gun issue.

Some make great hay out of wooing democrats, and greater hay about how many of their political paramours won. Funny how quiet they get when their faithless new friends are caught rolling in the hay and sleeping with the enemy...

Agreeing with Paul Helmke

In fact, based on the comments that I (and apparently several others) heard from the bench yesterday, the Justices seemed to express a consensus reinforcing the Court's strong language in Heller that reasonable restrictions on gun ownership are "presumptively lawful." [More]
That's what I read from the transcript, too, although unlike Paul, I think that deserves being looked at as a bad thing.

Funny how some, presumably on"our side," want to object to this simple observation...

You Got Nothin', Paul Helmke

Nothin' but insults, and conflation. [Read]

And the thing is, you know it.

Do you listen to yourself?

Jeez, now it's not just OKC we "zealots" are celebrating, but somehow John Wilkes Booth and Virginia Tech are stirred into the mix you're trying to tar us with?
Too many in our country are fueled by hatred, resentment and guns.
Stop with your hatred, resentment and unhealthy fixation on our guns and your problem solves itself...

It Doesn't Mean What We Said It Does

"We've lost the battle on what the Second Amendment means," campaign president Paul Helmke told ABC News."
So that means y'all are going to be correcting this, right?

And apologizing?

No Country for Old Men

With black bear populations rising, run-ins have become almost commonplace — more than 15,000 in the past year in states east of the Mississippi River...

In a 2006 attack, a 210-pound male bear killed a 6-year-old girl and mauled her 2-year-old brother as well as her mother who tried to fend off the animal....

14 people have been killed in attacks by black bears in North America since 2000...another 10 people were killed by grizzlies during the period, mostly in Alaska and Canada. [More]
Or, as "astoundingly flawed" Paul Helmke tell us:
Concealed weapons have no place in our national parks, which have always been safe places to enjoy our nation’s magnificent natural and historical treasures...
It's no country for ignorant men, either.

We're the Only Ones "The Honeymoon is Over" Enough

A veteran Apopka police officer is in danger of losing her job after she was accused of firing a gun at her new husband during an argument Sunday. [More]
In danger of losing her job...?

Can you imagine what would happen if a non-"Only One" acted like a drunken, pill-popping, suicide-threatening psycho bi***? With a prior on her record for the same type sh**?

Gee, I wonder why sweetie-cakes here has been married three times?

Yeah, right, per Pagina Helmke et al., this demon hag loser from hell can automatically be trusted seen in public with a gun by virtue of her costume, but you and I can't be.

Not the Answer Paul's Looking for

Gun shows don't contribute to increased homicide or suicide rates, according to results of a study announced Wednesday by the University of Michigan's Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy.

So count on Paul Helmke to insist that they do.

The Brady Wishlist

In which Paul Helmke and Dennis Henigan engage in a duet playing the same old song that could be titled "Dueling Flaccidity."

I read "Big Bullet-Blasting Boxes" and actually almost felt sorry for them--it's like they need to bring their arguments down to that level because, well, look at who their stupid arguments appeal to.  It actually reminded me of a line from a funny old Bruce Campbell flick I channel-surfed through the other night and hadn't thought of for a while:
This is my Boomstick!

Kurt further deconstructs those primates.

There Is Still Time

"There is still time for Congress and the president to take steps to keep loaded firearms away from the valleys of Yellowstone, the cliffs of Yosemite, and the Statue of Liberty — but they need to act quickly," said Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. [More]
Settle down, Paul. Don't get so worked up that things start popping out.

Point/Counterpoint

I note Paul Helmke still will not demand Congressional investigations. [Watch]

Nope--the answer is to further restrict the innocent and further empower the guilty.

You know he doesn't really buy into that (could he possibly?), and so have to ask yourself what kind of idiot zealot truly believes the crap he's spouting, and if they do, just what the hell is wrong with them?

A Matter of Timing

Some call it "lousy."  [Read]

As a side note, I'm tickled to see the "legitimate media" giving increased notice to Vladd Everitt.  Better that attention goes to him than to someone from a group that could be, you know, effective at actually accomplishing something.  Plus, if it drains Astorturf funding from the Bradys, we'll all get to have a good laugh when the advertising guru they brought in to replace the failure Paul Helmke finally throws in the towel--maybe we can take bets as to when...

Speaking of timing, Jeez, Dan Gross, your latest video has been up for a week and has the gravitas of your main website and social media pages promoting it, and you've only gotten 1,369 views so far...?  And naturally, comments and ratings have been disabled...

How are we to believe your "hundreds of thousands" claim when less than one percent of that even care enough to watch your whiny YouTube self-validation piece? That's some public demand you've demonstrated there!

Using Gross Logic

We can begin by making our voices heard to defeat the George Zimmerman Armed Vigilante Act. [More]

If we're going to do guilt by association (remembering no legal guilt for Zimmerman has been established at this time), then Minister King Samir "Kill Some Crackers and Their Babies" Shabazz is the Brady Campaign.

After all, just like Dan Gross & Co., the King's court rushes to judgment without all the facts under the promise that "No Guns" will "Stop the Killing!"

As an aside, if Gross is the best the Bradys can do, that's just wonderful.  So far their vaunted new advertising professional is making Paul Helmke look like the paragon of effectiveness.

Why Not Just Give Them What They Want?

The victims have all been women, ranging in age from 65 to 91. [More]
And while we're told "pepper spray is flying off the shelves," we see one irresponsible zealot ignore all of Paul Helmke's manly advice:
An 81-year-old woman scared off an intruder with a gun, firing several rounds for good measure.
Hey, what the hell happened to our right to feel safe?
