Every Kill Begins at Kays?

"Ask me which policy I prefer. Go on, ask."
San Antonio Police Spokesman Douglas Greene said late Sunday that Converse Police had arrested a 35-year-old man believed to be the suspect who had escaped after a fatal attempted robbery of Kay Jewelers at Rolling Oaks Mall earlier in the day. [More]
What a nice-looking young man. How'd you like to run into him ... anywhere? Especially if he was armed and you weren't?

I'm getting conflicting sources on the GFZ status of Rolling Oaks Mall.  Some are saying it's a Simon Mall, with that as a nationwide policy, but the mall is owned by WP Glimcher, which per a 2015 Dayton Daily News report prohibits concealed carry nationwide. That said, this site says they're "neutral," so the truth (with proof) from someone who actually knows -- and can send a photo of relevant signage -- would be most helpful.

It does call truth in advertising into question:

And then there's Kay Jewelers, widely reported to also be anti-gun, owned by the same outfit that makes it easy to say "He went to Jared."

And regardless of all that, evidently there was a concealed-carrying "Good Samaritan" who tried to intervene  and lost his life [UPDATE: There's some confusion on this. See comment below.]. No doubt the antis will seize on that to make their case, ignoring that having a gun has never been a guarantee of 100 % success -- otherwise, making it home at the end of their shift would never be a factor in"Only Ones" responses. And the case can be made that anticipating a GFZ is a factor in choosing perceived soft targets.

Curious and telling, how no one who says requiring disarmament makes everyone safer wants to sign one of these:

CLARIFICATION UPDATE:
A shopper who tried to stop the robbery was killed by gunfire. Another bystander who is licensed to carry a concealed weapon shot and wounded one of the suspects.
ANOTHER UPDATE: The mall isn't posted.

We're the Only Ones Deathly Hallows Enough

Connecticut Cop Shot During Porn Bust Outside Harry Potter Showing [More]

More detail here:
Two police officers who arrived at the scene of an arrest in the parking lot of the AMC Loews Theatre Saturday morning were wounded after fellow Plainville officers shot at their police car, a state police investigation found.

The suspect, Erik Gothberg, 45, of Southington, had left the theater and was approaching his car when police tried to arrest him, the police report states. Gothberg reached for his waistband, and Sgt. Timothy Mullaney and Cpl. Jon Eno opened fire, the report states.

Yeah, they couldn't possibly have taken him in less public-endangering circumstances or had any indication he was violent--and lo and behold, he didn't have a weapon. Yeah, he "went for his waistband." Maybe he was scratching. Or maybe trigger-happy Frick and Frack--a corporal and a sergeant, so it's not like we're dealing with rookies here--are shoot-first idiots who will do anything to make sure it's they who go home at the end of their shift--even if their "brother" officers don't.

After All, They Register Cars, Don't They?

Yes, they do.  And I just got this in my mailbox:

I sold the Mustang about a year ago.  And in Ohio, you don't just have to satisfy one set of bureaucrats to transfer a title, you need to go through three: the Ohio EPA "e-check" for proof of emissions compliance before transfer, and where I live the buyer needs to go through two separate BMV offices -- one to process title transfers and the other to issue new license plates.

So why, after all that, do they not know I no longer own this car? What if I'd bought and later sold a gun jumping through all the mandated hoops? Or reported it stolen, as some would require?

I shudder to think what could happen if it were used in a crime. If a situation similar to this vehicle cluster**** happened, I doubt I'd have gotten notice by mail, but could have instead been "visited" by men with the prime directive to make it home at the end of their shift. This shows it's hardly that far-fetched to suppose obeying "common sense gun safety laws" and entrusting government workers to get it right could prove far from safe.

We're the Only Ones Tackling Enough

Because established department protocol. Plus they wanted to make it home at the end of their shift. [More]

Besides, when inmates test you, you just gotta set an example.

Funny. 36 references to bullying as an offense subject to discipline in the Student Code of Conduct...

Do as we say?

Oh, and look at "Group II Misbehaviors" at the bottom of page 25:

Man, if they'd seen my notebook, they'd have had me committed.

Uh-oh... How'd the Opposite Day Prozis miss this?

SWATting ‘Prank’ Illustrates Lethal Consequences of Automatically Believing Accusations

Ostensibly people sign up to be peace officers to serve and protect, and swear an oath to the Constitution obliging them to protect the Bill of Rights as much as anything else. The rest of us want to make it home at the end of their shift, too. [More]
Have we seen instances where bodycam recordings leave reasonable people room to dispute the report of hands going to waistbands? Does the name LaVoy Finicum ring a bell?

We're the Only Ones Ending Close Shaves Enough

As many as 14 armed Orange County deputies, including narcotics agents, stormed Strictly Skillz barbershop during business hours on a Saturday in August, handcuffing barbers in front of customers during a busy back-to-school weekend. [More]
Customers happy? Check.

Citizens employed and contributing to the local economy? Check.

Master infuriated because he didn't give permission? Check.

Securing the blessings of liberty, "Only Ones"-style.

Plus, it's a lot more of a sure thing they'll make it home at the end of their shift!

Those minorities holding scissors are damned lucky they didn't make any false moves. And the ones who held still while cuffed are even luckier.

We're the Only Ones Risk Averse Enough

This fear mongering comes from Joseph Hubbard, 40, the president of Jeffersonville Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 100, who asserts “somebody is going get away with killing a cop because of this law.” [More]
As opposed to a cop getting away with killing somebody because of the status quo?

So flesh it out for us, Joseph: What level of abuse would justify self-defense and an escalating continuum of force up to and including lethal to stop a badged assailant?  Or are we just supposed to die so he can make it home at the end of his shift?

Their mission statement says it all:

Fun with Hoplophobes

Bring some of these foam beauties into "No Guns" zones and leave them laying around. With a message screened on the side, these could make for a good guerrilla marketing campaign.

You'd probably need to make them fluorescent or Furious Mike red, though, just so the Only Ones can make it home at the end of their shift without having to resort to standard protocol against anyone who thinks they're pretty neat and picks one up.

Then again, the thought strikes that the Demanding MILMs are dumb enough that you could probably leave these black and convince them to put their logo and the Everytown url on 'em as a way to shock the public into the need for "common sense gun safety laws."

We're the Only Ones Taking Precautions Enough

The Washington Post’s Radley Balko noted that police cited Ross’s permit to carry a weapon as one of their reasons for conducting such a raid. That explanation should alarm gun owners, he wrote. [More]
Hey, what's the matter, don't you infidels want them to make it home at the end of their shift?

We're the Only Ones Making Honest Mistakes Enough

The man added, “It was an honest mistake because the cops were frightened, as they were patrolling, he came running out.” [More]
I love the way they trivialize and justify killing the wrong man.

The antis say we can't carry concealed because the cops won't be able to tell the bad guys from the good.   It would appear, gun or not, in Furious Mike Paradise, they can't tell the victims from the perps--or else are just too scared to make the distinction.

And naturally, "The police account...differed from what people who witnessed the shooting said."

Ah well, the important thing is, our community heroes made it home at the end of their shift.

IT IS SO ORDERED

For the foregoing reasons, the Court has GRANTED defendant’s motion for a new trial.
I meant to post on this a few days back but got wrapped up in other stuff and plumb forgot.

It's good news.

Is there any doubt that the purpose of BATFU is to destroy people who are no threat? I guess that explains a lot.

Y'know, we want to make it home at the end of their shift, too.
