Hosea 4:6

I try not to enter comment threads under my articles because I've had my say and it's the readers' turn to have theirs. That said, I do see some reactions to my Clint Eastwood story (and under my Facebook post) that I'm going to address.

Some say they don't believe me. As "proof" they offer fake Twitter account posts and memes that have no basis in anything documented that he ever said. The preponderance of people who will swallow falsehoods because they saw something that satisfied their confirmation bias is disturbing. That it comes from "our side," when the ability to sort the wheat from the chaff is available at our fingertips -- with just a bit of curiosity and effort -- is appalling.  It really does speak to how easily people can be swayed by sources they are predisposed to believe, whether there is any real basis for assigning credibility or not, and how easily information that has been researched and validated can be derailed and redirected by introducing straw-men and outright bullshit.

A tangential discussion in one thread actually got into not mistaking Judge Judy, who is a Bloomberg supporter, with Judge Jeanine, who is a Fox News commentator. I bring that up because it provides a perfect example of how what is real can be replaced by what is calculated image. Pirro, if you're not enamored by the trappings of her being a designated "conservative" and care to do some minimal checking, is not what most gun owners encourage themselves to believe she is -- by a long shot.

It's personally frustrating because it can take an effort to dig out the truth but then it just dies in the echo chamber because no one cares enough to spread it, and what propagates instead is the deception. And I'm talking much, much more than silly celebrity stuff.

Back to Eastwood: A longtime trusted industry colleague who saw my piece just sent me a link to Breitbart's article by John Nolte, lest anyone still need more convincing. Or they could just check a news feed. My friend also sent me some insider "intel":
“The best thing we could do is
just get Mike Bloomberg in there.”
Clint Eastwood fooled American patriotic conservatives for decades just like Stallone, Schwarzenegger, and dozens of others. He made a movie of propaganda glorifying murdering communist Nelson Mandela for goodness sakes! However, Eastwood has been a huge gun collector all his life, there is a photo of him at the NSSF show (SHOT Show) in 1962 posing next to the then new Colt AR-15. In the photo attached, he posed for it when he picked up his Weaver Arms Nighthawk (UZI-like) carbine in the early/mid-1980s. (I knew Mr. Weaver and he told me in person about the time when he took this photo of Eastwood in his office in California when he came to pick up the gun *) And a well-known NFA dealer told me years ago about when he sold Eastwood's trust or estate in Idaho a 1921 Thompson submachine gun that Eastwood wanted. Now he backs a communist who wants to ban all guns???? He's another fake from communist Hollywood.

*The current source of this photo states that it was taken in the offices of Combat Arms magazine but this source was also initially confused as to what kind of gun it was (because of the Thompson-style front grip). Bob Weaver publicly, and often, showed this photo, and as recent as 2014 when he was trying to sell the rights and plans to make the Nighthawk carbine.
Or, I guess, you could just go with something that's repeated in comments on the internet, so it must be true.

Never Go Full Arnhole

Schwarzenegger planning to sue oil companies for 'knowingly killing people all over the world’ [More]
And here he is demonstrating the extent of his personal commitment.  Did he also mention "tobacco"?

I guess now that he's out of power and too old to be an "action hero," the desperate need for relevance and acceptance must seem more urgent than ever.

Doesn't he have an employee to knock up or something?

The Obvious Solution

Mr. Butler that his transcribers had had difficulty rendering Mr. Schwarzenegger's remarks because of his accent and said the only way to resolve the discrepancy was to listen to the tapes, which are in Mr. Schwarznegger's possession. [More]
Instead of just disputing and denying, why wouldn't a committed anti-Nazi want to unequivocally clear that up by producing those tapes?

In the Spirit of Bipartisanship

The congressional Democrats thus echo the views of Tani Cantil-Sakauye, Chief Justice of California’s Supreme Court, a registered Republican nominated in 2010 by governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.  [More]
Well then she must be OK, because Arnhole was endorsed by California's NRA affiliate, and we all know this has nothing to do with that "single issue."

To Stallone and Schwarzenegger, your guns are 'the expendables'

"That the star of 'Rambo,' who made his fortune exploiting armed violence, should call on government raids to disarm millions of real veterans and the rest of his countrymen, goes beyond hypocritical. It is contemptible." [More]

A Matter of Security

CHP withholds costs of protecting Schwarzenegger [More]
What, you mean Mr. Action Hero can't protect himself in real life?

I ask, because he sure acts like we can. While being restrained by his idiot disarmament policies.

Still, bringing up the security excuse does raise a question--or for me, I should say it resurrects one I asked some years back:

Seeing as how Arnold is a dual citizen, and seeing as how the US State Department acknowledges it discourages that because "of the problems it may cause" since "dual nationals owe allegiance to both the United States and the foreign country," what sensitive, classified and secret national security matters are being shared with this individual of officially acknowledged conflicted allegiances?

State takes the reality of this seriously enough to issue guidelines on Security Clearance Implications. In it they mandate:
If there is any doubt about unquestioned preference for and allegiance to the United States, unencumbered by any undue foreign influence, DS must render a determination in favor of the national security and determine that individual ineligible for access. These same adjudicative principles are used in all federal personnel security programs.
I submit ample evidence for such doubt exists. After all, we've already seen Arnold break two oaths.

The one here in Section 3:
I, ______, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California...
And before that, this one:
I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen...
And as long as we're discussing a matter of security, here's the most important one that everybody in power, especially dual-allegiance Arnold, is intentionally subverting:
Amendment II

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Hollywood Anti-Gun Hypocrisy Not New

When it comes to guns, Hollywood suffers from a self-imposed dissociative identity disorder. On the one hand, we have stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger making fabulous careers for themselves portraying heroes who solve problems using guns as tools to fight evil, and on the other hand, we have politicians like Arnold Schwarzenegger signing edicts that infringe on the ability of his audience and constituents to do just that.

This isn't new. Here's an example from half a century ago. [

Schwarzenegger Signs Handgun Ammo Registration Bill

If by improving public safety Arnold means making it lucrative for criminal gangs to smuggle in more ammunition from out of state, he's got a point. If he means it will provide more opportunities to harass everyone who jumps through each new stupid, evil hoop the state of California imposes on the "law-abiding," and further throttle a revenue-generating segment of the economy at a time when the state is issuing worthless IOUs, then no argument.

If he means it will stop one evil person from committing an act of violence, he's simply not being truthful. [More]

Will Gov. Schwarzenegger Sign Ammo Control Bill?

It will, of course, not stop one gangbanger from getting a gun or getting ammunition for it. They have networks all over the country. If anything, it will increase crime by this very dangerous segment, which will now have lucrative incentives for boosting outside the law supply chain activities.

What it will also do is create further economic hardships for and harassment of people who continue to endure in-your-face infringements from politicians who hate everything they stand for. Which is part of the intent. [More]

The Barrett Solution

Schwarzenegger Banned from Local Cigar Shop

Good for them.

I once bought cigars from that shop on a business trip to Sacramento--I wish now I'd taken the time to strike up a conversation.

Sure be nice if gun and ammo manufacturers would follow the lead of businesses like Tower Pipe & Cigars and Barrett Rifles.

I can't help but wonder if "green" Arnold uses space heaters to keep his balcony smoking tent tolerable in the winter months, or if he and his cronies huddle in the cold like smokers at private California establishments are forced to do.

Lead Us Not Into Appeasement...

The answer for GOP presidential candidate John McCain: take a page out of the Schwarzenegger playbook and sell a product that is "counter" to the current GOP brand on issues like global warming, spending and even immigration reform.

Yeah, that's the problem with the Republicans. They listen too much to their base. They need to "rebrand" and move even further to the left. That's what the "leadership" wants, and that's what the leadership is going to get--and McCain is ready to give them all that and more.

What's the definition of insanity again? How do some among us who claim "leadership" status think we got to where we are now? Tell me they don't know, at least the ones on the top.

Oh, and look: The leftists cheerleaders are already out there promoting the meme, with the intent of consolidating the infiltration and takeover of Democrat Party (R).

Professor Quigley would no doubt approve.

Hedging Bets at Castle Schwarzenegger

Maria Shriver -- wife of California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and a member of the powerful Kennedy political clan -- on Sunday endorsed Barack Obama for US president, just days after her former-actor husband backed Republican John McCain.

It's called playing both ends against the middle, but more than that, it's a continuation of the deception that there are two ends:

"The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can 'throw the rascals out' at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy."

The utter inability of some to admit the con job spelled out by Carrol Quigley in "Tragedy and Hope" speaks more to abdication of any line in the sand than anything else. We have a chance at peaceful revolution, a true easy way out, and it is, for the most part, disparaged and scorned.

Principles in Politics Matter

Even though I've left California, I've stayed on State Senator Tom McClintock's mailing list. I backed him in his run for governor and tried to warn people about Schwarzenegger, but, as with the current Ron Paul bid, the compromisers and "pragmatists" sided with the establishment, not only earning themselves the .50 ban, the lead ammo ban, microstamping--but providing a template for antis across the nation to use against the rest of us.

In his latest email, Sen. McClintock lists some bills he is supporting and opposing, along with why, and one he is neutral on, Prop. 93, Term Limits. As he explains:

Since I’ve only served eight years in the Senate, Prop. 93 would give me one final term; if it fails I must retire this year. Because I have a conflict of interest, I’m staying out if it.
Power does not corrupt if one places principles before it. Character counts. It counts.

But continue making excuses for following proven frauds--monsters, really, who have made no bones about trampling your rights into the ground, making you a criminal if you defy their edicts and destroying you if you don't comply.

Hey, maybe McCain will pick Fred as his runing mate...I guess there's no amount of excuse-making people won't tender. (And incidentally, McClintock endorsed Thompson, so I don't agree with him on everything, just as I don't agree with Paul on everything.)

Besides, "Ron Paul can't win." We've told ourselves so, and we're bound and determined to make it a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's a lot easier than rolling up our sleeves and trying. Thank God that attitude of pre-ordained defeatism didn't stop the men who won us our freedom by putting their very lives on the line to secure it for themselves and their posterity. Against all odds--conventional wisdom said they couldn't win, either.

We can either honor them by maintaining that spirit, and realizing yeah, there actually is a price to pay, or we can posture ourselves as leaders and warn how if Hillary wins, we'll lose our gun rights!!!

Some of us won't, at least not that easily. And I'm sure there'll be no shortage of forum warriors to assure each other how such extremists make them all look bad.

Alien vs. Predator?

Speculation is rampant in California that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger will challenge liberal Democrat Barbara Boxer for her Senate seat in 2010 – and a new poll has them running neck and neck.

Whoever wins...we lose.

I, Homegrown Terrorist

SEC. 899A. DEFINITIONS.
`For purposes of this subtitle:
`(1) COMMISSION- The term `Commission' means the National Commission on the Prevention of Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism established under section 899C.
`(2) VIOLENT RADICALIZATION- The term `violent radicalization' means the process of adopting or promoting an extremist belief system for the purpose of facilitating ideologically based violence to advance political, religious, or social change.
`(3) HOMEGROWN TERRORISM- The term `homegrown terrorism' means the use, planned use, or threatened use, of force or violence by a group or individual born, raised, or based and operating primarily within the United States or any possession of the United States to intimidate or coerce the United States government, the civilian population of the United States, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.
`(4) IDEOLOGICALLY BASED VIOLENCE- The term `ideologically based violence' means the use, planned use, or threatened use of force or violence by a group or individual to promote the group or individual's political, religious, or social beliefs.
And we all know advocating the so-called "insurrectionary theory" of the Second Amendment, that is, saying We the People should take up arms and resist, meaning shoot and kill tyrants and their agents, is "extremist."

So if we react to an outrage by reminding our countrymen of Jefferson's "Tree of Liberty" quote, or cite the Declaration of Independence, or even worse, the Declaration of the Causes and Necessity of Their Taking up Arms, what risks will we now assume? After all, we've (OK, I've) already experienced first-hand the "respect" Jane Harman's minions have for the First Amendment.

She truly is one of the most arrogant and odious members of Congress, one who married into power wealth, and as a supporter and volunteer for her opponent, Susan Brooks, I witnessed first hand the outright election fraudthat went unresolved and that resulted in Harman's initial elevation to the House:
In California's 36th Congressional District Republican Susan Brooks lost by 812 votes to Democrat Jane Harman, with absentees providing the margin of victory. Brooks workers compiled a detailed list of more than 2,000 apparently invalid votes. As Reader's Digest put it, ''findings indicated that of 5,292 absentee ballots from 20 Venice precincts that went overwhelmingly for Harman, 1,337 (26 per cent) had been cast by voters whose addresses on the rolls turned out to be abandoned homes, empty apartments, vacant lots.''

As an aside, I note one of the co-sponsors is that snake Dan Lungren, former California AG, "assault weapon" ban enforcer, and "moderate republican" of the Schwarzenegger stripe, on whose watch the confiscation of firearms from "law-abiding" citizens began.

We've just recently seen our government's heavy-handed approach to categorizing "terrorists." We've even seen the FBI float the criterion that "defenders of the US Constitution against federal government and the UN" should be reported to the Joint Terrorism Task Force.

On 10/24, this treasonous bill was "Referred to Senate committee: Received in the Senate and Read twice and referred to the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs."

I guess we're about to find out how serious we all really are.

Compromise

The National Rifle Association did not endorse McClintock for the special election leaving gun owners to speculate about whether it is better to vote for a questionable Republican or an anti-gun Democrat. Since winning the Governor's seat, Mr. Schwarzenegger has banned .50 caliber rifles and passed the microstamping bill. I guess now we have our answer.

It looks like we're about to conduct the same experiment on the national level. I trust no one expects different results?

Hessian Signs Microstamping Bill

Delivering a top priority of the gun-control movement, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed legislation yesterday requiring that new models of semiautomatic handguns sold in California be able to stamp identifying serial numbers on shell casings.

In a surprise move, he also signed a bill banning lead ammunition in the sprawling range of the endangered California condor.

Aren't you glad the major gun groups sat out on the recall election, some even spreading the word to gun owners that Arnold was a "stealth pro-gun candidate"?

It's not
like some of us (OK, me)
didn't warn you.

Is the betrayal complete yet, or are we still going to follow the "lesser of two evils" route? We have a grand opportunity to repeat the Arnold experience on the national level, you know, and we're even being primed for it.

Keep listening to the establishment gun lobby apologists, particularly the ones from those islands of success, California and New York, as they drip with poisonous scorn against anything not originating within their little controlled circles, and boast of their wonderful achievments of getting invited to surrender ceremonys.

Opportunity Knocks

Now Gov. Schwarzenegger has a chance to make Californians safer, and set a new national standard, by signing into law the Crime Gun Identification Act of 2007.
More bloviating by "authorized journalists" who don't know what the hell they're talking about. And they accuse us of being "reflexive."

And it figures they'd work in a reference to Virginia Tech.

Now would probably be a good time to add some more effort to "The Surge."

A Vicious Circle

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's plan to reduce overcrowding in the state's prison by transferring some inmates to out-of-state facilities took a blow when a judge ruled the plan violated the state constitution. The ruling was a result of a suit brought by two employee unions.
I suppose letting non-violent drug and gun possession offenders go isn't on the table?

I heard a CA politician--As I recall it was Assemblyman Tony Strickland --on the radio last night while driving home. Here's what he said about this (paraphrased from memory):
The state doesn't have enough room to house all its prisoners. But the guards don't want to lose their revenue sources by shipping assets out of state. Prisoners are encouraged to voluntarily transfer under this program by the state, except the gang bosses who control their inmate populations will kill them if they volunteer, because if the overcrowding is relieved, early releases required because of overcrowding won't be needed any more.

And then, when the goblins are dumped back into the general population and kill again, why, the same government that imposes these insane policies will demand more citizen disarmament as just the ticket to combat violence. And the legislators passing such bans will have no shortage of public union employees standing behind them--in uniform--for their campaign ads, telling us how it's all about public safety.

And the voters will eat it up.

Just so we all understand how it works.
