So Much for the Ballot Box...

From Dave Licht via email:
Have you heard about or seen the california primary ballot? It’s AMAZING!!!! Absolutely Zero reason for a conservative to vote. They orchestrated a completely rigged game. Constitution is DEAD in crapifornia
Take your pick.

And we may not "owe" it all to The Great Communicator, but he sure owns his portion.

And here are the current Numbers USA grades for the surviving handful of Republican House incumbents:

Only Tom McClintock is a champion. As I expected he would be.

How much more evidence do we need to see?

SHARE and Share Alike

Somebody wake me when this changes:

I mean, it's not like the Republicans are in charge or anything.

California Dreamin'

If you're from there and not helping Tom McClintock, all I can think of is that Little Red hen story where all the animals wanted to eat the bread, but none wanted to help plant, harvest and grind the wheat, and make and bake it.

Here are some reasons why gun owners should care.

AGITATE, AGITATE and AGITATE

And the question simply is: “WHAT CAN I DO?”

There is only one answer to that question. It was first given by the great abolition leader, Frederick Douglass, to a young protégé who posed that question to him. He answered with three words: AGITATE, AGITATE and AGITATE. [More]

Sen. McClintock Declares Victory!

He'd put out a notice to his email list last week, but said he was waiting until Monday to make a formal announcement due to the Holiday. I meant to pass this on then, but got wrapped around the axle with other things.

Great News!

We are told to expect the final tallies from the counties still outstanding to be announced by early next week, and I expect to be making a formal statement then. For now, I think we can safely say that the fat lady is singing – and she’s singing our song.
Uh-oh. I think Tom McClintock just alienated the Rosie O'Donnell vote.

Tom McClintock Update

Via Email:
Election Day came, lasted long into the night, then early the next morning and...it's still going on!

We all knew this would be a tough fight but it turned out tougher than we imagined. On Election Day we emerged with a lead of just 392 votes. Proof that indeed every vote counts.

Even though we had the lead we could not declare victory. The good news is that our lead has now grown to 709 votes. We are determined to fight for every vote that is legally ours. To do so we need an enormous amount of volunteers to monitor the vote-counting process. Almost magically people have materialized to help out, and have appeared at our headquarters in Roseville. They are putting in incredible hours to win a fight we simply can't afford to lose.

There are some 40,000 votes that remain to be counted in our nine-county Congressional District, a district which is larger than many New England states. The process of counting the remaining votes could take several weeks, and the Democrats are bringing people in from around the state and nation. We need additional volunteers to help staff the office and monitor the vote-counting process. If you can help, please call our headquarters at 916-783-4411.

I want to thank all of your for your dedication and support. I am humbled by the effort so many of you put forth on my behalf. Tuesday's results have yielded unprecedented power to the Left. We must band together now and work harder than ever to preserve our individual freedoms. With your help and God's blessings we shall prevail in this crucial election.

"Who will help me bake the bread?" asked the Little Red Hen. Or are you gun owners in the district who aren't helping out planning on just being eaters?

This is It

From the Tom McClintock campaign, via email:

Dear E-Team:

Thanks to the outpouring of your support, we've been able to nearly match Nancy Pelosi's Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in spending this week as they desperately try to keep Charlie Brown's efforts afloat. Make no mistake though, they will pour in every penny they have in the hopes of derailing our campaign between now and election day. We have maintained our lead all though this onslaught and I am confident that with your continued support, Pelosi and Brown will not succeed.

Today is the last day of the campaign to make radio and TV purchases for the short time remaining before election day. Will you help me with your emergency last-minute contribution of $250, $100, $50 or even the legal maximum of $2,300 to stay on TV and radio?

Thank you for all you have done. With your continued support, we are poised for a convincing victory on Tuesday.

Tom McClintock for Congress

I urge California gun owners to support and elect Tom McClintock to the House of Representatives. I urge you to get involved now, assist his campaign and recruit other gun owners. If you have been involved, I urge you to renew your efforts. Here's why:

How can conservative gun owners not love a guy who advocates:
[T]he debate is not about guns. It is about freedom. And the wheel has come full circle. Our generation must study politics that we may restore the liberty that our parents and grandparents expect us to pass on to our children and grandchildren.

If we fail, what history will demand of our children and grandchildren, in a society where their only right is to their own thoughts, is simply unthinkable. And be assured, history will find it unforgivable. A generation that is handed the most precious gift in all the universe – freedom – and throws it away -- deserves to be reviled by every generation that follows – and will be, even though the only right left to them is their own thoughts.
I've met the man. I had the opportunity to speak with him in person. I'm convinced he's the real deal.

Thing is, I'm not the one who needs convincing. California gun owners need to get off their duffs, get on the forums and boards, call their friends, scold their shooting buddies, open their wallets and generally knock off the apathy that is "our" worst failing.

I couldn't move that mountain much when Arnold was climbing it. But that didn't make the truth of why McClintock was the superior candidate any less relevant. And with the banning of .50 BMGs, with the lead shot ammo ban, and all the subsequent infringements since Arnold took over, we have the benefit of hindsight to confirm this.

It's clear the Nancy Pelosi machine is working overtime to ensure the congressional seat ends up an extension of their centralized planning campaign against freedom. Does anyone think Tom's opponent will buck his backers? And why is it do you suppose the democrat has been so shy about showing voters his hand in terms of his support for Barack Obama--the guy whose record proves he "would be the most anti-gun president in America's history" if elected?

There's really nothing more to say. California gun owners--I urge you to stop what you're doing, right now, and click on this link and start helping.

Ask Tom McClintock a Question

I have been offered an opportunity to interview Senator McClintock, and thought I would open up the comments to anyone who wants to ask a question of him. I have a few I’m thinking of asking, but if someone comes up with a good one, I’d be happy to include it.

Sebastian is helping raise awareness about a good man in public office.

A Question for California Gun Owners

Have you done anything to help Tom McClintock?

Anything at all?

Why not?

Really, why not?

Can McClintock Count on CA Grassroots?

From Tom McClintock:

This election has been watched across the country as a bellwether over the future direction of our party - and ultimately of our nation.

You can say that again.

For some reason that strikes me like getting noticed by the Eye of Sauron.

McClintock's opponent spent $4.5 million in the primary, and his campaign is still $50,000 in debt.

California gun owners--what are you doing about this? What have you done so far?

Take a look at this anemic Google blog search.

Why don't we find a hot and current McClintock thread happening here? Why no prominent mention here? Can anybody explain why this is?

Yes, McClintock has been endorsed by NRA and GOA, and that's important--but the point being, now it's time for grassroots to take those endorsements and muster troops and resources with them. His place (particularly with the democrat machine focusing on him) will not be secured by a top down pronouncement, but rather by committed personal involvement. There should be a highly visible and proactive plan for gun owner support in place, prominent promotional features, articles and event calendars on California RKBA websites, and discussion and coordination of support activities taking place in CA gun forums. There should be an ongoing coordinated effort to solicit funds, recruit campaign volunteers, encourage letters to editors (with talking points), you name it...

People won't follow if finding leadership is this difficult.

In the mean time, go here and do what you can. And if you're currently actively working on mobilizing gun owners to elect McClintock, share that with us here. Let me know what you're doing, your successes, your challenges, and how WoG can help publicize your efforts.

Let's work to change this result right now:

A Good First Step

Tom McClintock claimed victory Tuesday night after a costly, bruising Republican primary and prepared to face Democratic winner Charlie Brown in a November match-up to replace retiring Rep. John Doolittle in Congress.

Calling All California Gun Owners

From Tom McClintock:
[M]y opponent has unleashed the ugliest smear campaign I have seen in over 30 years in politics attacking both my integrity and my patriotism. He has backed it with over $2.5 million of his personal fortune and actually bragged that he planned to “bury McClintock in money.”

...[W]e’re stretched to the breaking point to keep our ads on the air. In fact, I’ve had to ask my campaign staff to hold off paying some of our bills for the primary election in order to keep at least a minimal presence on the air.

Are you going to help out? Or do you like it when "moderate" Oseholes betray you and support gun and ammo bans?

Friday, April 18, 2008

McClintock Kicks A...uh...Ose

In his opening statement, McClintock set the tone for the evening by making it clear that this primary race is a battle between two factions in the Republican Party—the traditional conservatives and the moderates. He explained that he believes our country has seriously moved off course...

McClintock then went right to Ose’s voting record...and asked Ose why he had signed a fundraising letter for the Republican Main Street Partnership, an organization that is committed to electing moderate Republicans. Columnist Michelle Malkin has uncovered that liberal millionaire George Soros actually donated money to this cause...

The questions included...whether the support the 2nd Amendment (McClintock has an A+ rating from the CA Gun Owners, Ose has an F)...

California gun owners, you made one of the gravest political mistakes possible by not wholeheartedly supporting Tom McClintock in the governor's race.

You have a chance to make partial amends for that, but you need to personally get involved. You need to tell your friends and put the squeeze on them to join you. And you need to do it now.

Or will you do nothing, and let a bunch of moderate oseholes win again?

Speaking of Politics...

...I just got the following from the Tom McClintock campaign:
As you know, however, my liberal opponent is a multi-millionaire and I am not. Instead of writing myself a check for hundreds of thousands of dollars, I must rely on dedicated individuals like you, who have stood with me through thick and thin and wholeheartedly believe that we will bring our Republican principles back to the forefront of our nation's political discourse.

We have a finance deadline coming up on March 31 and the more funds we can show on that report the more secure our position as the front-runner becomes. Will you help me show as commanding a position as possible on March 31?
Well, California gun owners? Will you?

Tom McClintock for Congress

Tom McClintock, termed out of the California Senate, is running for Congress. California gun owners--and particularly the "gun lobby groups," failed him in the recall election, and "won" Arnold Schwarzenkennedy, along with the .50 ban, the lead ammo ban and microstamping.

Here's what McClintock sent out prior to his announcement:
The polling from the 4th Congressional district has been overwhelming. As you may know, a conservative advocacy group commissioned a poll at the beginning of this month and it reported that I would begin the campaign with a 33-point lead over the nearest rival. I subsequently commissioned a full benchmark poll by a different firm that reported a margin of 38 points.

...Despite this very sizeable lead, I must first defeat a liberal millionaire to represent this solidly conservative district. He has already vowed in the press that he will immediately unleash a $500,000 advertising blitz if I dare to challenge him.

You have stood with me through many challenges and I need your help to start this campaign on a strong note. Will you make an urgently needed contribution so that we will have the resources necessary to counter his promised media buy?
Federal law limits contributions to $2,300 per individual and corporate contributions are prohibited. You may contribute securely on our website or mail checks to:

McClintock's rival has gone into immediate attack mode:

The announcement also threatened to create a division among Republicans between McClintock and former Congressman Doug Ose, in the June 3 primary race. Ose wasted no time throwing down the gauntlet, announcing Tuesday that he won the endorsement of former Gov. Pete Wilson.
Here's all you need to know about this Ose character: Even NRA gave him a "D+."

It's time to take the GOP back from the middle-of-the-road (read "devoid of unbending liberty principles") moderates.

So, California gun owners--and particularly the "gun lobby" groups who failed McClintock in the governor's race: Will you sit it out again, or will you personally involve yourself with time, effort and money?

And if anybody doesn't know why they should support this man, here's why. Or better yet, read his eloquent words in "Freedom and Firearms."

I had the opportunity of speaking with him one-on-one after he gave a speech in Orange County--for about 5 minutes in the room, then we walked outside together afterward and continued the conversation in the parking lot for another several minutes. He is the real deal, and his words are backed up by his record.

I'm cynical about political solutions, but this is one guy worth trying for. If we could help this man get to the national scene, I can't think of a better person to rally behind in future years for even higher office. He would be similar to Ron Paul, but without many of the vulnerabilities that campaign had imposed on it.

Principles in Politics Matter

Even though I've left California, I've stayed on State Senator Tom McClintock's mailing list. I backed him in his run for governor and tried to warn people about Schwarzenegger, but, as with the current Ron Paul bid, the compromisers and "pragmatists" sided with the establishment, not only earning themselves the .50 ban, the lead ammo ban, microstamping--but providing a template for antis across the nation to use against the rest of us.

In his latest email, Sen. McClintock lists some bills he is supporting and opposing, along with why, and one he is neutral on, Prop. 93, Term Limits. As he explains:

Since I’ve only served eight years in the Senate, Prop. 93 would give me one final term; if it fails I must retire this year. Because I have a conflict of interest, I’m staying out if it.
Power does not corrupt if one places principles before it. Character counts. It counts.

But continue making excuses for following proven frauds--monsters, really, who have made no bones about trampling your rights into the ground, making you a criminal if you defy their edicts and destroying you if you don't comply.

Hey, maybe McCain will pick Fred as his runing mate...I guess there's no amount of excuse-making people won't tender. (And incidentally, McClintock endorsed Thompson, so I don't agree with him on everything, just as I don't agree with Paul on everything.)

Besides, "Ron Paul can't win." We've told ourselves so, and we're bound and determined to make it a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's a lot easier than rolling up our sleeves and trying. Thank God that attitude of pre-ordained defeatism didn't stop the men who won us our freedom by putting their very lives on the line to secure it for themselves and their posterity. Against all odds--conventional wisdom said they couldn't win, either.

We can either honor them by maintaining that spirit, and realizing yeah, there actually is a price to pay, or we can posture ourselves as leaders and warn how if Hillary wins, we'll lose our gun rights!!!

Some of us won't, at least not that easily. And I'm sure there'll be no shortage of forum warriors to assure each other how such extremists make them all look bad.
