When Clowns Attack

For several nights last month, a group of thugs with black hooded sweat shirts pulled tight over their heads, including at least one in "angry" clown makeup, terrorized visitors to Pierce County's Fort Steilacoom Park, police say...

"The violence was gratuitous," said Lakewood police Lt. Dave Guttu. "They [victims] had already given up their stuff and were assaulted anyway."
Rely on the state for protection and this insanity is allowed to go on unchecked. So much for the safest course being to not resist and give the attackers what they want.

In a rational world, the turf would have been taken back by the good people that very night.

Councillor: Only Fudd Can Save Us Now

A Richmond city councillor is suggesting a call to arms may be the only option left that could curb the city's troublesome rabbit population.
What--you don't want to take the "humane" approach and catch, spay/neuter and adopt them--with taxes plundered under threat of armed force?

Be vewy, vewy quiet. I'm hunting wabbits.

Heh-heh-heh-heh-heh-heh-heh.

We're the Only Ones Registering Enough

A NORTH Wales Police worker has been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences following a major inquiry into gun crime in the region...His work is thought to involve keeping a firearms register...He is now the subject of a criminal investigation by officers, which forms part of a wider probe into firearms offences across North Wales.
I repeat: I do NOT purposely go our looking for additions to "The Only Ones" files. I merely look for stories related to guns.

These just fall in my lap. And sometimes I ignore them because I don't want the site totally dominated by this theme--and today, I did not blog on another story where an officer is fighting for his life out of consideration for a family going through hell right now.

We're the Only Ones Improper Enough

No action had been taken, and none pledged, as of yesterday against a Metro parks officer whose shooting of a man last year in Centennial Park was ruled improper.
Of course not. He's one of "The Only Ones."

Bloodthirsty Gun Store Profiteers Guilty of Murdering Innocents

At least that's what "authorized journalist" John Duncanson and his fellow hysterical propagandists at the Toronto Star would apparently have us believe...

The Mare's Leg Loophole

I just had time to read this month's issue of GUNS Magazine, and found an interesting article by Senior Field Editor John Taffin on the JB Custom Mare's Leg.

Those of you at least as old as me will remember TV's Wanted: Dead or Alive, where Steve McQueen portrayed Josh Randall, a bounty hunter who carried one of the more memorable firearms of western fiction, the "Mare's Leg."
Starting with a Model 1892 Winchester, the gunsmith cut the barrel back to 12", removed most of the buttstock and re-shaped the lever to a larger more triangular affair. While he was at it he also increased the power significantly by converting the .44-40 to the larger and longer .45-70.
Every month I link to a cool and unique feature on the GUNS website, the issue of their magazine from 50 years earlier. It invariably invokes nostalgia for a simpler time, particularly an era when "gun control" laws were far less onerous and pervasive. Taffin's article reminds us of a stark reality of the time:
The Mare's Leg...was highly illegal by federal standards and required special agents on the set while being used.
So how does JB Custom produce a modern equivalent?
While it is illegal to turn a rifle into a handgun as done by Randall it is not illegal to produce such a firearm as a handgun original.
Yeah, I guess. At least until some evil traitor starts screaming "Loophole!"

We're the Only Ones Automatic Enough

"Some dealers would have loved to have it," Chisholm said. "But the ATF told me I basically had two options: I could destroy it or I could give it to a museum."
But he still managed to hold onto it for years.

That's because he's one of "The Only Ones".

We Decide Who Gets to Say What

It puts the state in the position of defining what is a legitimate news publication.
What have we been saying about "authorized journalists"?

Besides--what kind of idiot would think we're entitled as sovereign individuals to free political speech?

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Buyback

A 33-year-old Milton man faces gun and assault charges after he allegedly shot a man who was said to have been trying to rob him at gunpoint outside a Mattapan store, prosecutors said yesterday.

But the defendant's family and friends said yesterday that the accused man, Robert Washington, had a gun last Thursday only because he was on his way to turn the weapon in to a police station in exchange for a gift card under Boston's gun buyback program...

"We're assuming that if he didn't have the gun, we'd be burying him instead of watching him go to jail today," she said.
Wonder if he still wants to trade in that gun...?

Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics

Glenn Fine said the ATF should have included all firearms-related violent crimes. By that measurement, Greensboro's results were stable with 353 gun-related crimes between June and November 2003 and 351 during the same period in 2004.
Dang. And we were counting on the lapdog media and their readership not realizing that you can't establish trends from such limited data sets...

We're the Only Ones Oral Enough

A rookie Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy, accused of fatally shooting his friend in the head, told police his gun accidentally fired when his friend grabbed at his arm, according to police reports made public on Monday.

Christopher Sullivan's story, however, was not supported by autopsy findings, which suggest Sullivan's service pistol was inside Cesar Valdez's mouth when it discharged.
Yo, Mr. Coats: When you say you want cops to be "just as bad as the criminals," is this what you have in mind?

We're the Only Ones Bad Enough

"I think what we need are really hard-core cops just as bad as the criminals," he said.
Bleat a little louder, Mr. Coats. I'm not sure the wolves heard you.

He evidently hasn't seen "The Only Ones" files.

Teaching the 2nd Amendment

It is time to demand that our nation's education system duly recognize our Bill of Rights and teach the Second Amendment according to its true intent.
I agree in spirit, but our nation really shouldn't have an education system in the first place.

As for at the state level, separation of school and state would suit me just fine--right now, with confiscatory taxes to pay for educating others and sustaining collectivist teachers union monopolies, and with compulsory attendance in mandated Second Amendment-free zones, the entire corrupt system is inevitably one big inmate-conditioning hive.

Anti-Defense Mania

It is high time the safety of the majority takes preference over the gun mania of a small but vocal minority.
OK, Chuck. You've told us what not to do, that is, be armed.

Now how about sharing with those who would follow your ignorant advice exactly what you would do if confronted by a violent attacker.

Captain Sailing On

I'm sailing away, set an open course for the virgin sea
I've got to be free, free to face the life that's ahead of me
On board, I'm the captain, so climb aboard
We'll search for tomorrow on every shore
And I'll try, oh Lord, I'll try to carry on

WarOnGuns regulars know I've been preoccupied lately, so I just noticed the announcement from Captain of a Crew of One that he's giving up blogging--at least for a while.

Farewell, Cap'n. Here's to red skies at night.

A Dual Approach AGAINST Weapons

I guess factoring in an approach for weapons in the hands of moral people isn't something The Inquirer wants to talk about...?

A "We're the Only Ones" Trifecta

Milton Smith, 44, a patrol officer in the 46th Precinct in the Bronx, was arrested after officers saw him buying marijuana...

Roberto Bharat, 28, an officer in the 103rd Precinct in Queens, was arrested and charged with assault after he allegedly slapped his girlfriend...

Officer Malave and two carpet delivery men exchanged words, and the officer lifted his shirt to show them his gun...
Admittedly, the first shouldn't be a crime, but if Smith caught you with pot, what do you think he would have done? I also can't judge the second incident, because we all know how a vengeful ex can ruin your life, but again, should the call have been made against one of us, Bharat would have unquestioningly slapped on the cuffs. As for Officer Malave, those carpet guys are just lucky they didn't lift a finger against him.

We're the Only Ones Shooting Ourselves in the Foot Enough

A department spokesperson said Officer Andrew Pagel handed his gun to another off-duty officer so he could ride a mechanical bull at the Red River Saloon.

The gun accidentally went off, hitting Pagel in the foot.
All by its own self, no doubt. I'm sure the behaviors, actions and gun handling techniques of "the Only Ones" were beyond reproach.

Blind Men to Examine Elephant

The nation's top black law enforcement executives are in Cincinnati for their annual convention, and they're prepared to try and help the Queen City with its youth violence problems.
One thing we can count on: They will completely avoid any real solutions.

Cowichanians Cough Up Guns

More than 2,000 rounds of ammunition and 70 firearms were turned in to North Cowichan/ Duncan RCMP during a month-long gun amnesty program that ended last week.

Most surrendered weapons were long guns with some handguns as well. One sawed-off shotgun was surrendered along with a handgun believed to date from the First World War.
"Cowichanians."

It sounds like a race of alien bovinids from the original Star Trek series. I wonder if "coughing up" is part of the cud chewing process?

In any case, expect to see violent crime now plummet.
