We're the Only Ones Test Driving Enough

The daughter of St. Louis Police Chief Joe Mokwa and an untold number of police officers got free use of cars from a company with a lucrative police contract to tow and store cars, the department admitted on Friday.
Because not only are "Only Ones" more special than you, so are their kids.

I think if one of us did the same thing, they'd call it "joy riding," or more simply, "stealing."

So naturally, "the Police Board and its lawyers said no laws were broken."

Bob Barr Poster Contest Finalists

Regulars know about this. If you're just finding out, you can read more here.

Bottom line, both the Bob Barr presidential campaign and the Libertarian Party have ignored repeated correspondences asking them to explain their candidate's support for the Lautenberg gun grab. So we had some fun with it and held a poster contest.

Here are the entries. WoG visitors can select the winner.

21 Guns, Salute

These are great. Thanks to you who entered. Now it's time to vote.

POLL CLOSED AND REMOVED FROM THIS POST ON 7/28/08

One vote per visitor/computer. I'll create a sidebar link to remind people of the contest, and announce the winner next Monday--along with a prize that I still need to determine.

We're the Only Ones Going National Enough

On Saturday morning, 40 retired officers -- many of them New York Police Department retirees -- completed a shooting course at the Markham Park gun range to qualify for a relatively new kind of concealed weapons permit that is honored nationwide.
No, of course you can't have one too. You're not an "Only One," with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men, are you?

Some "Men" are Liars

Says Ruggieri: "If someone asks whether I think they should buy a gun, I say, 'Do you care if it's pink?' If you have a good and legitimate reason to own and carry a gun as a tool," he says, "then it shouldn't matter if it's pink."

"If you're buying it for machismo reasons, as a penis extender - which some people do - then you won't want to own a pink gun. If it matters that it's pink, don't buy it."
Hey, make up your mind. When we do make 'em pink, your kind start shrieking like little girls.

It's no wonder Sam Brito calls his column "All Men Are Liars." Projection, you know. And somehow, when I read his post title "Men With Guns," I don't envision him belonging to either the specific or the more general category. And that goes double for most of the comment posters I see over there.

Special Effects

So Snyder decided to do something funny. He says, “So we erased the gun, and put a walkie-talkie in his hand.”
They also acknowledge the ridiculous digital edit by Steven Spielberg to erase guns from ET.

The most bitingly critical send-up on that was what South Park did to Saving Private Ryan.

Two Different Things

Zoo visitor Alex Lundgren of Boise questioned the group's decision to bring firearms.

He says: "Legal and appropriate are two different things."
So are free and contemptible, Alex. If you want to crawl into a cage and be treated by caretakers, you'll get your wish. The rest of us are determined to roam free.

Meanwhile, Over in Bodyguarded Boss Daley Paradise

After another violent summer weekend, the week has begun in Chicago with at least three more outbreaks of fatal gun violence.
Can't you people do a march or a buyback or something?

A Neutral Voice

Let me state here that I am not anti-gun or pro-gun.
No, of course not. I just blame them.

Hey, it's easier than pushing the line that people are responsible for their own damn choices, and others are responsible for enabling them. If we started doing that, a whole line of fraudulent and destructive social policies revolving around victimhood and finger-pointing might be exposed.

Some believe that guns will make citizens feel safer. Well, all someone has to do is examine black communities around the country.
How about this, Ed Wells: Examine the 4 million members of the NRA around the country. Why is it they don't have a problem? What is it you're really trying to say about your demographic here?

And he picks out Clarence Thomas for special "shame" because of his skin color--see if you have enough melanin, it's mandatory to behave and think in the hive-approved way. Individuals who think for themselves are Uncle Toms.

What have we established here, except that we're dealing with an ignorant racist who would blame us all for his personal shortcomings?

Meanwhile, Across the Pond in Sarah Brady Paradise

POLICE chiefs in South Yorkshire are to use airport-style metal
detectors in areas where they suspect people to be carrying guns and knives.
Can on-demand strip searches be far behind?

They've done all the "reasonable compromises," haven't they, enacted every single "common sense gun law" demanded of them?

Where will it end?

Where does tyranny always end?

And what do you call someone who wants to subject you to it, except "enemy"?

Interesting. If I were a California gun owner, I'd be spending some time learning more.

Bias is Nadia Moharib

Happiness is a destroyed gun
Funny.

This isn't presented as an editorial, it's presented as straight news.

Nadia Moharib exhibits the mindless destructive impulses of a vandal demolishing something far beyond her understanding--and she does so free of any canon, standard or ethical consideration.

"Authorized Journalists." No wonder I love 'em so.

$200?

The event allowed people who owned illegal guns to drop them off at six churches in exchange for a $200 debit card, no questions asked.

$200 apiece? You gotta be kidding me.

I don't suppose it occurs to these morons that they're creating all kinds of incentives here that work directly against their stated goals?

Bob Barr Poster Contest Finals

I know I said I'd do the poll today, but Sundays are always lower traffic, I'm feeling lazy and I have other things to do.

Tomorrow.

We're the Only Ones Just in the Nick of Time Enough

Two juveniles were arrested this afternoon in connection with a report of a student bringing a gun to Pinole Valley High School.

The school — where about 800 middle and high school students attend summer classes — went on lockdown around 8 a.m. this morning...
Anybody care to speculate on the results had The "Only Ones" been needed in seconds?

Poor Chap Thinks He Has a Choice

The story has a serious side, as Watson-Webb told the newspaper, “People all over Britain are sick and tired of feeling like prisoners in their own homes and seeing yobs get away with it.” He further insisted, “I’m not out to kill anyone or even hurt them. I just want to keep yobs off my land.”
It's not your land, subject. Don't you get it yet?

It's not your home and it's not your life.

You're a vassal. Do what you're told. Eat it and like it. Defy and be destroyed.

What you want doesn't matter.

The sooner you lot realize you have nothing to lose, the better it will be.

A Conspiracy Theory

Twice convicted of felonies, James Francis Barton Jr. faces charges of violating a federal law barring felons from owning guns after police found seven pistols, three shotguns, and five rifles at his home south of Pittsburgh.

As a defense, Barton and several other defendants in federal gun cases argue that last month's Supreme Court ruling allows them to keep loaded handguns at home for self-defense.

I've made my position on this clear for years--anyone who can't be trusted with a gun can't be trusted without a custodian. But this isn't about that--and I will address it in a post next week--or even about more appropriate sentencing.

I can't help but wonder if some on the side of the Enemy want to bring forth cases they know they'll lose--damage control so post-Heller limitation precedents can be established.

Probably just me being paranoid.

A Bit 'o the Blarney

Gardai have smashed a guns-for-sale racket in which suspected former members of the Provisional IRA supplied firearms to a drug trafficking gang in north Dublin.

Officers believe the suppliers were linked more recently with the dissident republican group, the Continuity IRA, but were also heavily involved in criminal activities.
Oh, be off with ye, then.

Everybody knows the IRA disarmed.

Next you'll be tellin' us ye heard it from the wee people.
