Mary Mitchell's America

Obama's neighbors have been forced to give up certain of their personal freedoms in order to ensure his safety...

There's no telling how many guns would be taken off the street in gang- and drug-plagued neighborhoods if police were to set up roadblocks and search everyone going into those areas.

For those of you who argue that what I am proposing violates basic civil rights, forget it...

This is Chicago, not Alaska.
There's a solution: Constitution-free zones.

Mary Mitchell's America is a police state.

I notice she acknowledged force was used. I note she says "Forget it" for any rights-based disagreement, removing any will but hers from the decision.

How many men who disagree is Mary willing to see destroyed to enact her totalitarian agenda? Anybody not think creatures just like her enabled killing fields?

This wretched harridan is nothing less than a domestic enemy. The Chicago Sun-Times, which gives her a platform, is an instrument of subversion.

Anyone who thinks such as these will ever allow us to peacefully coexist is a fool.

We're the Only Ones Hot Dogging Enough

A Coral Springs police officer whose K-9 dog suffocated inside his police car last summer will not be charged, authorities said today...

The officer, whose name has not been released because he works undercover, remains on duty at the Police Department.
Well, I guess as long as it wasn't willful...

We're the Pseudo-Only Ones Preferred Parking Enough

First a Cook County sheriff's officer was nabbed parking his squad car illegally in a disabled parking spot.

Now a volunteer with Palos Hills Emergency Disaster Agency has been snapped trying to pull the same stunt in a marked city vehicle...

"Just because she had a cop car, or what looked like a cop car, she doesn't get to break the rules...

"She denied it and said, 'No I didn't,' but I told her I saw her," Wall said. "She's supposed to be enforcing the rules, not breaking them."
Acton's Law in action, with denials and everything...

Give a little person a little power and before you know it, they're acting just like a real "Only One."

Wayne Fincher Fundraising Appeal

We have reached a point in the case of U.S. v. Hollis Wayne Fincher where we must once again ask you to consider supporting Wayne and his fight for our Second Amendment rights. As you may know, Wayne lost on appeal to the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals, and a Petition for Rehearing was filed requesting that the entire 8th Circuit rehear the appeal. As you may also know, the 8th Circuit summarily dismissed the Petition for Rehearing.
Read the whole thing.

This Day in History: October 13

On Friday, October 13, 1775, meeting in Philadelphia, the Continental Congress voted to fit out two sailing vessels, armed with ten carriage guns, as well as swivel guns, and manned by crews of eighty, and to send them out on a cruise of three months to intercept transports carrying munitions and stores to the British army in America. This was the original legislation out of which the Continental Navy grew and as such constitutes the birth certificate of the navy.

Downtime

For WarOnGuns, that is.

I'm taking a long weekend off, starting now. I should be posting again some time Monday.

I'd appreciate it if those of you who email me could hold off until then--otherwise the buildup will be a real bear to deal with.

Oh, and I'm turning off comments until I start back up--spammers and trolls, you know...

We're the Only Ones Misusing Enough

A Zanesville city corrections officer faces a misdemeanor charge of improperly handling a weapon in a motor vehicle...

Investigating deputies said they found a loaded .45-caliber pistol behind the driver's seat underneath a piece of paper. One spent cartridge was located on the front floor of the driver's side seat....
Let's see, drinking, crashing, fleeing the scene, trying to think up an elaborate lie about the car being stolen---and no, I have no idea how that shell got there or how the acci9dent happened. And oh, yeah--a deer made me swerve.

Sounds like a great proto-"Only One" you've raised there, Chief. Can't wait for him to start filling out police reports and testifying against defendants...

Gun-Hating Martha Rosenberg Down to Only Trick

It must be that time of month again--Martha is bleeding all over the Internet.

But that boring, foot-stomping indignant shrew isn't what I want to talk about. Check out the comments. Gotta say it cracks me up to see Rady Ananda pass herself off as someone who "favor[s] the Second Amendment" in a transparent attempt to plug AHSA.

Go ahead Rady, tell us all about your gun advocacy.

No Surprise

Police Capt. Mark W. Louney said residents from several places in the city called to get unwanted firearms out of their houses.

“They just didn’t want them around anymore,” he said. “I was kind of surprised we recovered so many.”
I wish I could say I was surprised. Sadly, from many I expect it.

And then they're going to destroy them.

No surprise there, either.

We're the Only Ones "Wedding Crashers" Enough

Police have begun an internal investigation of a weekend confrontation between police and members of a wedding party that led to the arrest of Astros pitcher Brandon Backe.

Witnesses said Monday that police needlessly beat, Tasered and pepper-sprayed wedding guests who were trying to comply with police commands during an incident in which officers arrested 10 people, including Backe, at an outdoor bar at the San Luis Hotel on Seawall Boulevard.
I always cry at weddings. Especially with my eyes full of Oleoresin Capsicum.

Here's the light bulb-going-on moment:
"You will feel the most helpless, humiliated, betrayed, that you will ever feel."
Bingo. And doesn't that sound like a great slogan for another "Only Ones" commemorative t-shirt?

NRA to Make Major Election Announcement

The National Rifle Association’s (NRA) Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre and NRA Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) Chairman Chris W. Cox will be traveling to Pittsburgh, Pa., Springfield, Mo., Colorado Springs, Colo. and Reno, Nev. Thursday, October 9 for a series of press conferences where they will make a very important announcement regarding the 2008 Presidential elections.

Taking bets here...

The Turkey Running Harvard Business School

No, not the Dean. A real turkey.

Don't you just love the way the law--its only legitimate purpose being to secure the blessings of liberty--puts our modern day heirs of liberty at a disadvantage against...the main course? The Zargonians must have landed in Cambridge, and there's gotta be some pod people action going on there...

I also like "Mike," who "do[es] security." He seems an affable enough fellow, but I question his powers of observation, not even knowing that the subject of his protective focus is a "she," not a "he." I also question how effective he would be if a true ravening predator stalked in and began culling witless, tender gobblers...

What is it about Massachusetts and turkeys, anyway...?

Defiance

'Defiance’ is based on a true story, three Jewish brothers (Daniel Craig, Jamie Bell and Liev Schreiber) escape Nazi-occupied Poland and head into the forest to join Russian resistance fighters and try to save the lives of other Jews.
Watch the trailer. Then ask yourself how the idiot can be anti-gun in real life.

Most actors truly are stage props.

We're the Only Ones Not Doing Our Jobs Enough

As the nationwide mortgage crisis puts the squeeze on homeowners, the Cook County sheriff's office is on pace to evict more people than ever from foreclosed homes.

At least it was until Wednesday, when Sheriff Tom Dart announced he wouldn't do it anymore.

...By refusing to do any foreclosure-related evictions, the hope is that banks will change their policies.
That's the purview of Cook County "Only Ones"? Their opinion on "social justice" decides what's enforceable?

If so, can we count on Sheriff Dart to immediately disband the Eviction, Levy & Warrant Unit, and return their funding to the county? And if he expects private entities to handle their own evictions, will he also turn a blind eye to property owners/agents arming to protect themselves against hostile and emotional evictees? Or if not, also admit that his people don't need that precaution either?

Note this is not commentary on the housing/lending mess, its causes or its solutions. That's a whole 'nother area you'd do well to keep informed on, but it's not my focus here.

Katrina Gun Settlement Reached

City officials have agreed to return hundreds of firearms that police officers confiscated in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, part of a deal to resolve a lawsuit filed by gun lobbying groups.

The settlement agreement filed Tuesday in federal court calls for the National Rifle Association and Second Amendment Foundation to drop their case if the city follows a plan for returning guns to owners who had them seized by police after the Aug. 29, 2005, hurricane.
Good on them. Kudos and congratulations. At the risk of sounding less than properly appreciative, here's hoping I lose a bet with myself about the press releases each group puts out...

UPDATE: Hallelujah!
The Second Amendment Foundation assisted NRA in the legal battle against Mayor Ray Nagin and the City of New Orleans.
That was the right thing to do. Now didn't it feel good?

VA Open-Carry Activist Illegally Arrested Again

This is beyond believable but Dan Moore was arrested shortly after leaving Norfolk City Hall this evening. Once again, Norfolk Police illegally arrested Dan, handcuffed him, unlawfully disarmed him, and eventually issued him a citation.

A nearby citizen attempted to film the arrest but was ordered by the Norfolk Police to stop, or else!
I still think some sort of plan would be helpful...in all open carry states where this is a problem.

Home Defense Animation

As for the Home Defense poster animation, I intended to make it an interactive banner that I could share with other home defense advocacy websites. I would still like to do that, but I need some assistance.

First, I need your opinion about the content of the banner; tell me what you like and don’t like about it. Click on it and watch the show. Second, I would like for other websites to install the banner and give me feedback about how to improve the installation package.
My opinion? I think it's really cool.

As for content feedback, I might not tell people to visit their gun dealer--the person behind the counter may or may not be qualified to offer much more than an opinion--I've met my share I wasn't that impressed with. Since folks are viewing this from the Internet, I'm not sure how inclined they would be to take real world action anyway--possibly the thing to do would be to refer them to another website--since they're online anyway and the effort is minimal, to learn more. Which website would be best I cannot say. Perhaps others can.

But overall, I love it and would like to see more efforts like this. I'd ask WarOnGuns visitors to spread the word on this, and direct some traffic on over to check it out. And yeah, I'll install the banner.
