[More]I wonder where "Only Ones" get the idea they can be abusive with such impunity, if not from years and years of getting away with it while those in the know turn a blind eye so as not to rock their own boats...

Church Gun Event Misguided
So why might I have anything negative to say about New Bethel Church in Valley Station pastor Ken Pagano "encouraging people to bring their guns to church on June 27"? And why might I be unimpressed by his assertion that "This is for anybody that believes in second amendment rights. And that is the buttress to first amendment rights"? For the Children
The girl, whose name has not been released because she's a juvenile, pleaded guilty...Via Avg Joe, who writes:

Unless I'm missing something here, the victim who is an under age kid gets his name in the paper but the under age criminal can't have her name in the paper.The story identifies them both as high school students, but I guess it's possible Barden is 18...?
Regardless, I never did grok this business of shielding juvenile offenders from press scrutiny. If some adolescent reptile in my community is torturing kittens or the like, I'd like to know who the malformed monster is.
I guess I can see cases where due to the nature of the offense and the age of the perp it may be in everyone's best interest not to force them through life with a stigma, but that exception ought to be case-by-case as appropriate, as opposed to just a blanket media pass.
More often than not, it seems "Authorized Journalists" are champing at the bit to publish names of concealed carriers who haven't done anything wrong (well, except maybe applied for permission to exercise their right, but that's a different debate).

In today's Gun Rights Examiner column, I included this quote:
So 2001 Belcourt Avenue, Nashville, is officially a "gun free zone." Anyone entering that premises is putting the lives of themselves and their party into Randy Rayburn's capable hands. What he's prepared to do should some predator decide to capitalize on his stupid sign and offensive attitude toward gun-owning patrons remains unsaid.
I suppose you could ask him.
Also on our list of dining establishments that expect you to put your life in their hands because they don't trust you is Rooster's Sports Bar and Grill in Rocky Hill.
If they haven't already started one, I think Tennessee Firearms Association should follow the lead of Ohioans for Concealed Carry and maintain a database of establishments that don't "allow" gun owners to make the choice for themselves.

And what can be said for a school that sets aside a free-speech zone, as Tarrant County College in Fort Worth, Texas, has done, but that will not allow an empty-holster protest by students regarding the weapon-carrying issue in that free-speech zone. [More]I never understood the motivation to hold an empty holster protest, and candidly, think it's a misguided idea. But be that as it may--it sounds like the guardians of tolerance and diversity are determined to make a filled holster protest inevitable some day.

FIRE reported Brashier was ordered into a meeting with school officials, "who told her that passing out her non-commercial pamphlets was prohibited as 'solicitation.' Furthermore, they insisted that the college pre-approve any pamphlets, that pamphlets like hers would not be approved, and that Brashier destroy all copies of her pamphlet," the organization reported.And what have we learned from this...?
"At one point during the meeting, Dean Yvonne Burns reportedly said, 'You may want to discuss this topic but the college does not, and you cannot make us.' Brashier was warned that any further efforts would be considered 'academic misconduct.'" [More]

Panic at Princeton!
The four kids were apparently rummaging through some sort of trash dumpster and told cops that's where they found the toy gun, police sources told NBCNewYork.com. One of the juveniles picked up the fake gun, put it in his belt and started walking away with the other three kids when a woman spotted the gun in his waistband and called police.
