The Warrior Gene

Boys who have a so-called "warrior gene" are more likely to join gangs and also more likely to be among the most violent members and to use weapons, a new study finds. [More]
Ah!

Something else to abort!

Unless, of course, you're a licensed and registered Sardaukar breeder...

How many remember "Soldier"?

A Sticky Situation

Richmond Coliseum Bans VCDL Stickers! [More]
With the hive mentality exhibited here, I'm tempted to stop calling them "antis" and start calling them "ants." They get so worked up over repressing people they're almost comical.

Almost.

Good job, VCDL.

My favorite part is this:
Stay tuned - this could skyrocket.
Let us hope.

A Poor Way to Fight Gun Violence

It may surprise some, but I won't argue too hard against the mayors' assertion that criminals won't file off or replace imprinting parts, and won't stop to pick up spent casings. They could, but why should they? Since their guns are the "illegal" ones the mayors say they're against, that is, since they're almost certainly stolen/black market guns, it's not like lawful purchase records can be traced back to them.

And it's not like one violent sociopath will let this nonsense slow them down one bit. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner shows our old pals the Mayors Against (Your) Guns still trying to baffle everyone with BS.

All our accounts, for several days past, agree, that the Enemy are preparing to make a considerable embarkation of Horse and Foot, and by the Quantity of Water, Hay and Provision of other kind it should seem that they are going out to Sea. But tho' this is the appearance, I beg you to keep a good look out lest they make a sudden turn towards you. [More]

Apathy Enables Gun Control

I firmly believe as great an enemy of our rights as those who are against them are those who say they are for them but do nothing. Apathy is as great a threat as enmity. Possibly greater. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column reminisces about the Citizens of America national media campaign I was part of some years back, as the apathy that prevented it from flourishing is still with us today.

If the place is Such that he cannot safely plant a Guard there for fear of the Enemy, he would by the same rule lose his Artillery, as he has not Men to Support them. If any Works are necessary at the passes he mentions, I should think small Redoubts Sufficient to oppose musquetry. [More]

'Future Weapons' No Solution for 'Friendly Fire'

Take out a cop and you can now "pinpoint" where the others are. Want to find out who the undercover guy is (remember, all officers involved in this latest shooting were in plain clothes)? Easy, he's the one with the tricked out future weapon. And it's not like uniformed officers ever have need for stealth--why not force them to use guns that emit audible and visible signals? [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column looks at the latest ridiculous proposal by NYPD.

I guess the brass figure they can divert the idiot media's attention span from looking at human operators for things like training and profile-based assumptions.

The Real Reason Texas Campus Carry Failed

Republican legislators in the Texas House of Representatives were so hell-bent on passing this repressive and useless "Voter ID" law that they scuttled their own time-honored rules of procedure just so they could keep Democrats from blocking a vote on the Voter ID bill. The result was a five-day filibuster on the House floor, courtesy of Democratic legislators, that stretched over Memorial Day weekend. When the dust settled, Voter ID was dead, but so were hundreds of other bills which were simply tossed aside by House Republicans in a vain effort to save Voter ID. One of those bills thrown on the funeral pyre was the campus concealed-carry bill, which had already passed the Texas Senate and was simply awaiting a vote in the House. [More]
So the Brady propaganda is just that.

Speaking of which, this PR by the antis really reads like Marxist propaganda--it just has that Commiespeak air about it. I keep expecting something about "heroes of the glorious revolution." Andy Pelosi. Now there's a self-made man we can all respect.

And I read another article some damn where that I can't find now--it actually referred to the Virginia Tech survivors as "experts" we should heed to realize being disarmed is the safest way to encounter an armed mass-murderer.

We're the Only Ones Megalomaniacal Enough

He called himself the Lion King, the emperor of Galveston, and more simply, "the government." [More]
I wonder where "Only Ones" get the idea they can be abusive with such impunity, if not from years and years of getting away with it while those in the know turn a blind eye so as not to rock their own boats...

Funniest mouthpiece line:
"Judge Kent and I refuse to be part of the circus."
Good one, Dick Deguerin, with just the right amount of feigned indignation over nonexistent dignity. As if you freak show exhibits rise to the level of circus.

Church Gun Event Misguided

So why might I have anything negative to say about New Bethel Church in Valley Station pastor Ken Pagano "encouraging people to bring their guns to church on June 27"? And why might I be unimpressed by his assertion that "This is for anybody that believes in second amendment rights. And that is the buttress to first amendment rights"? [More]

This Day in History: June 5

The Major General of the day is, in some sort to represent the Commander in Chief -- He is to give directions for all guards, parties and detachments -- to receive reports of the proceedings, and of every occurrence of any importance, both in and out of camp. All deserters and prisoners, other than for common military offences, to be brought to him for examination, and disposed of by him -- All detachments, or reinforcements arriving, to be reported to him immediately, on their arrival, and to take his orders -- He is to superintend the regulation of the camp, and the execution of all General orders... For the Children

The girl, whose name has not been released because she's a juvenile, pleaded guilty...

Cody Barden was hit by a vehicle and left unconscious by the side of the road. [More]
Via Avg Joe, who writes:
Unless I'm missing something here, the victim who is an under age kid gets his name in the paper but the under age criminal can't have her name in the paper.
The story identifies them both as high school students, but I guess it's possible Barden is 18...?

Regardless, I never did grok this business of shielding juvenile offenders from press scrutiny. If some adolescent reptile in my community is torturing kittens or the like, I'd like to know who the malformed monster is.

I guess I can see cases where due to the nature of the offense and the age of the perp it may be in everyone's best interest not to force them through life with a stigma, but that exception ought to be case-by-case as appropriate, as opposed to just a blanket media pass.

More often than not, it seems "Authorized Journalists" are champing at the bit to publish names of concealed carriers who haven't done anything wrong (well, except maybe applied for permission to exercise their right, but that's a different debate).

The Insoluble Conundrum

It doesn't matter what small percentage of the population stands up to oppose American tyranny -- IT WILL STILL BE ENOUGH. [More]
If freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose, it might be wise for those doing all the squeezing to not create a situation where there's no way out but through...

If Anyone Has a Moment...

I don't have time for an interminable back-and-forth with an ignorant anti commenting here.

If you'd like to weigh in, go for it.

Or perhaps this is a "don't feed the troll" moment?

Your Tennessee Dining Guide

In today's Gun Rights Examiner column, I included this quote:
Some restaurateurs were also opposed to the bill, saying it would hurt business in an already struggling industry. Randy Rayburn, owner of Nashville's Sunset Grill, posted a sign in his window earlier this week saying “No Guns Ever.”
That's this place.

So 2001 Belcourt Avenue, Nashville, is officially a "gun free zone." Anyone entering that premises is putting the lives of themselves and their party into Randy Rayburn's capable hands. What he's prepared to do should some predator decide to capitalize on his stupid sign and offensive attitude toward gun-owning patrons remains unsaid.

I suppose you could ask him.

Also on our list of dining establishments that expect you to put your life in their hands because they don't trust you is Rooster's Sports Bar and Grill in Rocky Hill.
Dave Nguyen, general manager of Rooster’s Sports Bar and Grill in Rocky Hill, says guns will be banned at the business despite the recently passed “guns-in-bars” legislation.
Trust your safety instead to highly trained career bouncers with tasers. Yeah, that makes sense.

If they haven't already started one, I think Tennessee Firearms Association should follow the lead of Ohioans for Concealed Carry and maintain a database of establishments that don't "allow" gun owners to make the choice for themselves.

Free WarOnGuns "No Guns/No Money" cards are still available for download at several sites linked to in "comments" here.

Backing Off

Several weeks ago, STRATFOR heard from sources that the FBI and other law enforcement organizations had been ordered to “back off” of counterterrorism investigations into the activities of Black Muslim converts. At this point, it is unclear to us if that guidance was given by the White House or the Department of Justice, or if it was promulgated by the agencies themselves, anticipating the wishes of President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder. No Special Allowance

President Obama should immediately issue orders to allow military recruiters to be armed for self-defense. [More]
Sorry, Mr. Blackwell. No "Only Ones."

I agree with WarOnGuns correspondent Michael G, who writes:
"Don't get in the way as the Citizenry arms itself, and as members of the Citizenry the military recruiters will also be armed.

Another Institution of Higher Learning

And what can be said for a school that sets aside a free-speech zone, as Tarrant County College in Fort Worth, Texas, has done, but that will not allow an empty-holster protest by students regarding the weapon-carrying issue in that free-speech zone. [More]
I never understood the motivation to hold an empty holster protest, and candidly, think it's a misguided idea. But be that as it may--it sounds like the guardians of tolerance and diversity are determined to make a filled holster protest inevitable some day.
