Legal Ignorance of Second Amendment Not New

"The general consensus was: 'It has something to do with quartering troops in time of war, doesn't it?'"[More]I put out a second Gun Rights Examiner column this morning to let readers know there's another 50-year-old Guns Magazine issue available, and to highlight how asleep we were about our right to keep and bear arms not that long ago...

Would you like to own a Taurus Model 856 double action .38 Special revolver rated for +P ammunition? How would you like it to be given to you, free? [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner column is part of an Examiner.com "Info 101" special project. I figured this month's Guns Magazine contest giving away a free handgun might make a hoplophobe or two pop a blood vessel.
Besides which, some of you may want to enter...

Facing Tough Questions
They are still mourning a fallen officer, but they are also now facing tough questions whether commanders made tactical errors as they carried out the operation. [More]So it may not be a matter of just banning pump-action shotguns?

Proper Etiquette When in the Presence of Your Betters
“On Monday, August 3, 2009 at approximately 9:00 AM at the North Pavilion the disrespectful attitude you displayed to the Mayor was unacceptable,” George Edmunds, the city’s acting director of Parks and Recreation, wrote in a Monday, Aug. 3 suspension notification memo issued to Moye. “The Mayor indicated that this was not the first time that you had not acknowledged her when you came into contact. This type of behavior will not be tolerated and is detrimental to the department. Your actions have caused irrevocable damage to the welfare of the department and your fellow workers.’’
In the memo, Edmunds also uses terms such as "insubordination" and "disgraceful" to describe Moye’s failure to greet Deerfield Beach Mayor Peggy Nolan. [More]
One could argue that by being a willing part of the Imperial Legions, one owes deference to the Empress.
And the rest of us subjects can pay our respects to her as well.
You might ask her how the Emperor is doing.

We're the Only Ones Fit for Duty Enough
Should a police officer's physical condition determine whether he is fit for duty? [More]I'm wondering if "Only Ones" so morbidly obese they're incapable of getting up off the floor is really such a bad thing...

SCOTUS Gets Excuse to Dodge
On Wednesday, the Ninth Circuit Court voted to review en banc a three-judge panel decision in April, extending the Second Amendment right to have a gun for personal self-defense so that it would restrict or nullify state, county and city gun control laws. The effect of that order, of course, was to vacate the panel decision. Thus, the disagreement between that panel and the Second and Seventh Circuits no longer exists... [More]Who's surprised that rather than just recognize and protect our unalienable rights--the whole reason we feed these bastards in the first place--that ritual is given more importance than the reason behind it?
So now SCOTUS can sit on its hands, continue to allow injustice and deprivation of rights to exist unchallenged, and allow the pot to continue its gradual progression to full boil.
Truth is, the only way those in power ever cede it is when costs of not doing so exceed benefits. Nobody thinks they're going to voluntarily just give it up because it's the right and moral thing to do, I trust...

We're the Only Ones Catty Enough
A Provincetown police officer shot a severely injured cat early Monday morning to relieve its suffering, according to Provincetown police Chief Jeff Jaran. An act of mercy, "Only Ones"-style. Hey, it could have been worse. And at least this time it wasn't a dog.
But questions about the number of times the handgun was fired — four — were raised on a local blog... [More]

'Senior Mexican Official' Hides Behind Anonymity to Attack US Gun Rights

What possible objection could any "senior Mexican officials" have against fully cooperating with an independent audit to trace all military-grade weaponry seized, particularly ordnance that has been sent to Mexican armed services and police? [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner column recommends going on the offensive against these officious corrupt bastards.
I also have a plea of sorts. It appears when I ask readers to tell a friend about these columns, some are telling a bit too much.

This Day in History: August 7
The Commander in Chief wishes all officers to be impressed with this truth, that nothing is more essential in military service than an exact subordination, and ready obedience to the commands of superior officers; that it is this which gives life and vigour to an army: that a contrary conduct must clog and impede every movement, and excite a spirit of discontent, disobedience and licentiousness among the troops; that in this view, the conduct of Capt. Friesback must be deemed highly criminal, and of a very dangerous tendency. [More]

Why So Enuretic?

[T]he poster is ultimately a racially charged image. [More]Oh good grief. Someone's corset is on too tight. Fan the vapors away before he faints!
Do you think Phillip Kennicott actually believes his own nonsense, or is he just doing his part as an "Authorized Journalist" to propagate the meme that Lightworker criticism = racism?
The most astute comment of the lot came from judsonhouse1, who gives Kennicott exactly the intellectual consideration this piece merits.
On a side note, feral sons Uday and Qusay are in SoCal right now (with Cousin Kim Jong!) stomping on fault lines to see what they can trigger. I told them when they get to LA to jump out of the car (preferably in traffic) and rip one of these down and bring it back to me for a souvenir.

We're the Only Ones Per Law Enforcement Protocol Enough
SWAT called out when Yolo County deputy fires gun while drunk [More]And it's not that they then found him passed out on the floor that's the true illustration of "Only One" specialness. It's not that he shot one of his dogs. It's not even that he used his police-issued service weapon.
No, it's this:
Key was not arrested at that time. As per law enforcement protocol, he said, officers left Key at the hospital and then prepared a report for the District Attorney's Office to recommend charges, if any...it is impractical to have officers at the hospital for hours or days waiting until the suspect is released to arrest him or her.Do you think you or I would have been arrested "at that time"? Does "law enforcement protocol" allow them to cuff violent and dangerous hospitalized suspects to bed rails any more? Or do they only do that to drug suspects who refuse to pee for them?
