This Day in History: September 24

September 24, 1777 at Diamond Island, New York - Having previously captured 300 British troops on the west shore of Lake George, Col. John Brown's Continentals successfully raided the British post at Diamond Island, located south of Ticonderoga. They were unsuccessful in capturing Fort Ticonderoga itself. Conclusion: American Victory [More]

Virginia Tech Continues to Promote Defenselessness

Anyway, I am not surprised to see the anti-defense zealots have returned to the scene of a crime enabled by their insistence on mandated helplessness. The Center for Peace Studies and Violence Prevention is hosting a showing of ABC's propaganda hit piece on gun ownership, "If I Only Had a Gun." [More]
I'd meant to post today's second Gun Rights Examiner column earlier, but life got in the way.

Anyway, the usual gang of idiots is having a Kumbaya-fest tomorrow, and I thought I'd use this opportunity to pick a fight.

Professor Underreacts to Chancellor's Overreaction

The sudden turn of events -- Cramer was in the advisory role for less than a week -- occurred after he sent an e-mail shortly after midnight Thursday boasting about his marksmanship skills. He termed it a joking response to a pair of fliers being circulated with his photograph and home address and inferences that he may be a racist. [More]
That's it? I'd do the same and more, and I would not be joking. Matter of fact, I'd try to track the weasels down, out their real identities and post their addresses, likenesses, class schedules--see how they like CUM ULLA SELLA IN PUGNO TABERNA, the damn cowards.

I may not be able to hit a quarter with a .45 seven times out of 10 at 50 feet like Professor Cramer claims he used to do, but that's OK. If they sent anyone out to my home, I wouldn't be aiming for their quarters.

Tell Chancellor Holden Thorp what you think of his decision to essentially fire this guy for warning off anonymous punks playing terrorist, which is what the flier distributors are: holden@unc.edu

Tell him there's an FBI snitch being tried for giving out work addresses of judges on his blog. Ask him why he sides with scum, and why he's not demanding an investigation.

Derailing the Antis

Passed by a 68-to-30 Senate vote, an amendment authored by Mississippi Sen. Roger Wicker, mandates that Amtrak allow passengers to carry handguns in their checked baggage. [More]
Amtrak's Chairman of the Board Thomas C. Carper and Dick Durbin (D, Mordor), felt the need to conduct a public panty-wetting, to which Bruce Krafft responds:
Okay, so what AmTrack and Dick are saying is that passengers' checked baggage is subject to being "lost, damaged, stolen or misused"? You can't have it both ways boys, if your baggage security is inadequate then knowingly operating a system where your customers' personal possessions, that they have entrusted to your care, are subject to rifling by your employees?

This doesn't even address the other security issue, that if you can't safeguard checked guns, how can you keep out checked *bombs*?
The answer, of course, is all they're really capable of doing is harassing those inclined to obey the laws.

We're the Only Ones Following Protocol Enough

A jury in Prince George's County on Monday awarded $261,000 to a woman who said she was pepper-sprayed and punched by sheriff's deputies after they forced their way into her Greenbelt apartment to serve an arrest warrant on a man who was not there. [More]
I love how the "Only Ones" always charge the victims of their brutality with "assaulting a police officer."

I think if I were on a jury, I might be inclined not to believe it just based on an anecdotal preponderance of evidence...

But here's the real central point of this story:
The jury determined that the two deputies violated Kimberly Jones's constitutional rights, even though they followed sheriff's department protocol...The sheriff's department's training and procedures are such that if you follow them, you will violate the rights of citizens."
Again with "protocol." If it's officially sanctioned, but against the supreme law of the land, that is, illegal, doesn't that make it a conspiracy to deny a citizen their rights under color of authority?

You Are My Sunstein

I share concerns with correspondent DJK, who asks: "Where does the .gov find these people?‏" [More]

And, of course, I still don't have an answer to my "Czar" question...

We're the Only Ones Searching Enough

Offending individuals are either given an opportunity to obtain the necessary permits and educate themselves on safe storage procedures — while Toronto police hold the gun for safe-keeping — or else the weapon is destroyed. [More]
So stop being paranoid about confiscation --registration is merely a "common sense gun safety measure."

We're the Only Ones In Charge of the ER Enough

A head emergency room nurse at Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital has sued the city and a Chicago Police officer for handcuffing her and putting her in the back of a squad car during a dispute over drawing blood from a suspected drunken driver. [More]
Well...yeah.

Everyone knows "Only Ones" are the best qualified to make on-the-scene medical decisions. Just ask this EMT.

Besides, if anyone knows anything about drawing first blood...

And gee, imagine that, the union keeps We the People from knowing this smirking thug's name.

Oughtta be a lesson to you though, Ms. Hofstra. Your business should be healing.

For the Children

When it comes to greenhouse-gas emissions, Energy Secretary Steven Chu sees Americans as unruly teenagers and the Administration as the parent that will have to teach them a few lessons. [More]
This is how the NeoMarxists respond to dissent: You're mentally unbalanced, you're a domestic terrorist, you're a racist, and now, you're a child in need of benevolent adult supervision and guidance.

So we will control.

For the children.

Funny, how the guy in charge of our nation's energy program has only worked in ivory towers. I can't see where he's ever helped drill an oil well, run an electricity-generating plant, operated a refinery...

Berkeley, you know...

There may be a few energy lessons some of us could teach.

When the Revolution Comes

It's time for all progressive communities to raise our collective voice against idiocy. Otherwise, I fear that it will all come down to armed combat. If some craziness goes down and the right-wing nuts start coming after my friends and family - White, Black, Asian, Latino, Native and LGBT - as a means of self-defense I'm gonna be right there with guns in the air and a beret on my head. [More]
So much misplaced hatred, Ralph Remington. It is not we who believe in the Bill of Rights and restraints on government who advocate disarming minorities.

And fear not. I doubt you'll see an influx of folks who believe like me invading Ward 10 in Minneapolis. If all hell breaks loose to where the scenario you describe becomes possible, I'd look to incidents in the recent past to see the most likely way they'd unfold--and who you'd need a gun to defend yourself against.

We're the Only Ones Until Death Do Us Part Enough

A Detroit Police officer was on her way to report a domestic dispute Tuesday morning when her husband, a Detroit homicide detective, fatally shot her in a library parking lot before turning the gun on himself, police said. [More]
I really don't mean to be cruel here. But I would be remiss if I didn't point out this is a prime example of cops NOT being the "Only Ones" we can trust with guns.

NV Senate Candidate Robin Titus Answers Gun Rights Questionnaire

Another contender for the Nevada Senate seat currently occupied by Harry Reid has answered the political questionnaire on gun rights: Robin L. Titus, MD. This makes four contenders in this race who deemed it important enough an issue to provide unequivocal answers to specific questions. In addition to Dr. Titus, we've seen excellent responses from Danny Tarkanian, Sharron Angle and Bill Parson. [More]
This morning's Gun Rights Examiner column demonstrates how the concept of this questionnaire can be used as a force multiplier.

This Day in History: September 23

September 23, 1777 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Occupation of Philadelphia) - Gen. Charles Cornwallis, marching in with 4 British and 2 Hessian units, took possession of the city of Philadelphia to the acclaim of Loyalist supporters. The main body of his army encamped at Germantown. Gen. George Washington moved from Pott's Grove to encamp at Pennybacker's Mill (Schwenksville) on the Perkiomen River. He was not deeply dispirited by the loss of Philadelphia and concentrated his energies on restoring his troops. [More]

Mike Noland's Security Blanket

I can get away with this here at WarOnGuns because it is parody, fair use, and a not-for-profit exercise in free political speech.

I probably couldn't post it here.

Perhaps we ought to start referring to Mike Noland as either "Linus" or "The Great Pumpkin" and see if we can spread it around enough to where it sticks. If anyone deserves to be ridiculed, it's this...uh...thumbsucker.

IL Government Advice for Stalked Women: Clutch a Security Blanket

Let's recap on the official position of the state of Illinois for women who want to defend themselves:

Vomit.

Surrender.

Scream.

And now you offer them the option to pull a blanket over their heads and hope the monsters won't get them? [More]
I put out a second Gun Rights Examiner column today to address a prime example of outrageous, insulting hypocrisy from the tyrants who run Illinois.

We're the Only Ones with a Forceful Presence Enough

Officers from at least four police departments surrounded federal agent James Sirbaugh in Bridgeport Thursday after his presence in Belmont County forced the lockdown of the entire St. Clairsville-Richland City School District. [More]
Be nice if there was a local police response every time a BATFU thug entered our communities. It would be nicer if that response wasn't limited to "Only Ones."

A True Alternative?

Really?

I didn't see a contact form or edress on his campaign website, so I went to his "Get Involved" form and when they asked "what kind of tasks [I'd] like to volunteer for," entered:
I'd like to volunteer to determine if Dave Yost really is a "true alternative" for "Friends of the Second Amendment." To that end, I've got some questions designed to evoke unequivocal answers to determine this. I intend to share his response--or lack of one--with my readers.
Then I asked my questions.

We shall see.

We're the Only Ones Appealing Enough

A Virginia Beach DUI enforcement officer is appealing his conviction on drunken driving and hit and run charges. [More]
Well of course he is. "Only One" more for the road 'n all that...
