A Simple Idea

Here’s a simple idea: You can be for the rights of law-abiding gun owners but also for common-sense policies to keep guns out of the hands of criminals. [More]
I agree--if by "simple idea" he means only a simpleton would swallow his deceptive rant.

Howard Nemerov does a good job explaining why.

Never in Her Wildest Dreams

When Sally Harpold bought cold medicine for her family back in March, she never dreamed that four months later she would end up in handcuffs. [More]
Of course she never dreamed it.

Only a fascist would.

The kind who would use the Nuremberg defense:
“I’m simply enforcing the law as it was written,” Alexander said.
We've laughed a bit at the Brits today. It's not like large swaths of our own republic aren't under the thumb of tyranny-enabling martinets.

AGITATE, AGITATE and AGITATE

And the question simply is: “WHAT CAN I DO?”

There is only one answer to that question. It was first given by the great abolition leader, Frederick Douglass, to a young protégé who posed that question to him. He answered with three words: AGITATE, AGITATE and AGITATE. [More]

We're the Only Ones Concrete Enough

A nitpicking cop crackdown on concrete at Ground Zero is costing taxpayers millions and snarling construction at the already behind-schedule Freedom Tower and other structures at the site, cement suppliers say.

Cops harass their mixing trucks with inspections that take so long, the concrete starts to harden and can't be used, the firms say. [More]

Maybe they just don't have the right placards...?

What a great idea--make uniformed public employee union goons the "Only Ones" who can carry guns. Then turn them loose to do strong-arm shakedowns.

The corruption is just so blatant. What "a wretched hive of scum and villainy."

Good. Keep on making enemies, boys.

Squeeze.

We're the Only Ones with Ugly Plaque Build-Up Enough

The NYPD cop in charge of the city's crackdown on parking-placard abuses has been booted from his post after one of the coveted cards turned up on the windshield of a gal pal's car, The Post has learned. [More]
Not that I would ever suggest a little quim...uh quid pro quo was going on, but we are talking "Furious Mike Only Ones" here...

Meanwhile, Over in "Furious Mike" Paradise

An eagle-eyed tourist captured dramatic photos of a young murderer calmly walking off moments after he fatally stabbed a passer-by on the steps of the main post office in Midtown, authorities said yesterday. [More]
I realize this was a matter of dumb luck, but I can't help thinking if you can sight someone with a camera, you could sight them with something else...

We're the Only Ones "For the Children" Enough

A Macon police officer is on administrative leave after being arrested on multiple sex charges in Houston County, according to Macon police.

Antonio J. White, 33, is charged with rape, incest, aggravated child molestation, aggravated sexual battery, statutory rape, cruelty to children and child molestation, according to a police news release. [More]
And he's the third arrestee in two months. Don't you just wish you were deemed as trustworthy to carry a gun as Macon "Only Ones" are?

Thing is, I still don't have an answer to my question on date dining protocol...

We're the Only Ones Doing No Wrong Enough

A Phoenix police officer who mistakenly shot an armed homeowner during a search for an intruder was cleared of wrongdoing this week by a committee that reviews such shootings. [More]
Let's review:

Citizen's home is invaded.

Citizen confronts intruder and holds him at bay, using a gun to deter violence. If he'd deployed with anything else--a kitchen knife, a fireplace poker, a Louisville Slugger--chance are there would have been blood.

There was anyway.

An "Only One" comes barging in with his gun blazing without knowing what the hell the situation is and f***s everything up, shooting the homeowner in the back.

All according to official protocol, mind you. He did nothing wrong.

I guess if that's the way they want things to go down, we must adjust our home defense protocols accordingly, to where no one uninvited under our roof gets out moving.

No one.

Pity--most of us were prepared to trust our judgment to determine situation-appropriate responses. Looks like our options have been blown away...

The Chronicle of Advanced Cranial-Rectal Insertion

In both settings, there is no shortage of guns, although in North Philadelphia's Badlands or Chicago's South Side those guns might be concealed and illegal, while in small towns guns hang on display in polished oak cabinets in the sitting room. Residents of rural America are more likely to be poor and uninsured than their counterparts in metropolitan areas, typically earning 80 percent what suburban and urban workers do. [More]
See, the aig-haids figger we'uns is too turnip truck dumb to catch that little sleight-of-mind scam they just pulled--comparing rural citizens to the urban criminal underclass when it comes to guns, and then suddenly switching the terms of the argument to a different comparative demographic altogether.

You'll have to excuse me for a moment--I twisted so hard trying to keep up with that sudden turn I skinned my dang knuckles on the ground.

We're the Only Ones "Never Say 'Never Again'" Enough

However, a terse e-mail statement from Jacksonville Undersheriff Frank Mackesy on Moskowitz’s program said the Sheriff’s Office doesn’t “encourage anyone to take the law into their own hands. Be aware of your surroundings and contact the police.” [More]
Get that? Self-defense = taking the law into your own hands according to "Only One" Mackesy, who is under no legal obligation to protect anyone.

And then there's Rabbi Judenrat here:
“I would hate for members to miss out on the opportunity for their own spiritual enrichment because they are itching with their trigger finger to pull a gun on a would-be instigator,” Lief said. “Our local Sheriff’s Office does a good job of being aware of the needs of the Jewish community, patrolling and keeping our congregants safe. We have police officers out front on High Holy days.”
There have been police officers at temples before, you fool, you...oberkapo.

The only way "never again" works is if you mean it.

We're the Only Ones Fleeing the Scene Enough
