Oath-Breaking in Iowa
The Iowa House of Representatives passed SF 2357 today. Congratulations, you just committed a treasonous act. You violated your constitutional oaths. [More]Here's the bill.
Here's the history.
I have to wonder what pressure has been brought to bear by Iowa gun owners? Y'all been mobilizing and screaming and writing letters and scheduling appointments with your reps and writing letters to the editor and organizing meetings and corresponding and forwarding emails and links and...?
Or have most remained oblivious to guys like Iowa Patriots here who are trying their best with limited reach to warn, to mobilize...?
How many, if they hear of this at all, are getting it from some guy in Ohio...(that would be me)?
Hey, how about that young Hawkeyes offensive line, anyway...? Man, if it's anything like 2007, this could spell trouble...
Toy Convertible
ATF Claims Toy Guns Are Convertible to Full Auto Firearms [More]Nice to see the word getting out. It's a foregone conclusion the "Authorized Journalists" won't do their job until a story's so big it can't be ignored, so I guess it's up to us to bypass them.
Come and Get 'em
Oh, how nice. The cops will return his guns--they just have to "go through the paperwork" and he can "pick them up at a later date".
Funny. I don't seen an offer to deliver them back. I don't see an apology. I don't see anyone begging for forgiveness. And I don't see any consequences spelled out to keep this from happening again.
More here and here.

Signs of Peace
Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Baba Adisa Bolanta, has said incessant crises in the country might have led the Federal Government to suspend issuance of firearms licence.Bolanta, who briefed newsmen in Ibadan, on the success of his command, did not disclose the nature of the crises, but he expressed hope that the suspension may be lifted as soon as there are sufficient signs of peace in the country. [More]"Signs of peace."
You know, when unarmed Christians are no longer massacred by machete-wielding Muslims while the government stands by and allows it to happen.

Proof of Weapons Movement Between US and Mexico?
The Zapata County sheriff Thursday was questioning why a Mexican military helicopter was hovering over homes on the Texas side of the Rio Grande. [More]Are there standard armaments on Mexican military helicopters, either mounted or carried aboard?
So why aren't we demanding that they surrender so we can make sure they weren't illegally armed--particularly with automatic weapons-- a federal felony in the US unless they've registered their weapons and paid the tax...?
A US citizen would be facing serious prison time--and fleeing across the border to escape would result in extradition back to face charges.
And so what if our "military was informed"? Does our government maintain that invading Mexican government employees deserve preferential treatment over US citizens?

We're the Only Ones Using Reason, Not Emotion Enough
"In this case, a 'person of ordinary intelligence' would know that the defendant's conduct was prohibited by statute when he willfully chose to speed at 126 mph on a well-traveled, interstate highway while talking on his cell phone as well as receiving and sending e-mails in the moments prior to losing control of his vehicle," the motion stated. [More]Doesn't matter. Because:
"We empower them to do things others are not allowed to do," O'Gara said, pointing out that police officers are allowed to wear a gun on their hip while driving a car -- a felony for anyone else. What part of "Only Ones" don't you inferiors understand?
That's evidently why the government watchdog "Authorized Journalists" removed comments.

Why Do ATF Employees Question Fitness of Agent in 'Toy Gun' Seizure?
In fairness to Mr. Crenshaw, this assessment is clearly coming from someone with an agenda. His side of things has not been presented. What hasn't been established is whether that agenda is just, whether that assessment is fair, or whether an accomplished professional is being unfairly maligned by disgruntled colleagues. [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner column looks at a peer review of sorts.
Establishing personal accountability is something those who hide behind bureaucracies to commit abuses fear. Help me shine the light to where they can't hide by sharing this link far and wide?
This Day in History: March 12
There are complaints from every quarter of the remissness of Payment in the Commissary and Quarter Master departments, whether this is owing to the misapplication of Public Money or whether the departments have not been properly supported by the Treasury I will not undertake to determine as none of their accounts either go thro’ my hands or are subject to my inspection. A change is taking place in the Qr. Masters and I hope if the Gentleman who is in nomination accepts that there will be a considerable reform. [More]

GRE Round Up for Mar. 11
A common complaint is media bias and absence of representation for "our side."
These people work hard to change that and ask for nothing from those of us their labors serve other than to help spread the word. I hope no one thinks that's too much to ask.
