Social Media

The U.S. Department of Justice is defending computer hacking laws that make it a crime to use a fake name on Facebook or lie about your weight in an online dating profile at a site like Match.com.  [More]
So let me get this straight: Lying on social media sites should be a federal crime.  Lying to Congress...?  Eh...

Hell, just recently this same bunch was proposing lying on FOIA responses.

Perhaps if these insane control freaks get their way they can be hoist with their own petard...

A Matter of Policy

Gunmen assaulted two Fayetteville State University students in their dorm room early Sunday in the fourth armed robbery at student housing since last school year. [More]

Can't those morons read?
Weapons on School Grounds

It is a felony to possess or carry, whether openly or concealed, a weapon of any kind on any school grounds, including the Fayetteville State University campus. If you do obtain a concealed weapon permit, you are still prohibited from bringing a weapon on campus.

And from the Department of Irony, it looks like the nearest emergency facility is the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center...

Email shows internal Justice Department dispute, refusal to provide evidence

Mike Vanderboegh of Sipsey Street Irregulars has posted an exclusive analysis of a Dec. 17, 2010 email from Glen Cook, Deputy Chief of the Special Prosecutions unit of the Criminal Division, Department of Justice, Southern District of Texas in Houston, documenting awareness of a connection between gunwalking and the murder of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry within days of that incident, and advising the Phoenix division "hire a media consultant" to deal with the fallout. It further shows the ATF office in Phoenix "refused to provide...evidence" effectively crippling a related Texas weapons seizure investigation. [More]
This is a bombshell revelation. A copy of the email is included.

A Successful DGU

I am not ashamed to admit that hearing her cry made me tear up. How dare anyone force this awful choice on another human being.

Thank God she had a gun.

God damn anyone who would take that choice away from her.

ATF classifies Chore Boy pot scrubber pads NFA firearms

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Firearms Technology Branch has deemed “Chore Boy copper cleaning pads, along with fiberglass insulation,” a firearm, subject to registration and a $200 transfer tax, an official letter obtained recently by Gun Rights Examiner reveals. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report shows how, with the proper materials and a bit of elbow grease, hard-to-eradicate rights can be scrubbed right out!

Less than Half the Equation

I look forward to "Authorized Journalist" Scott Johnson now giving equal time to the cost benefits of peaceable armed citizens. He will, right? I mean, Contra Costa Times wouldn't just do hit pieces that only tell the side of the story that bolsters the citizen disarmament argument, would they? [Read]

This Day in History: November 15

At the muster of November 15, 1779, for example, the number of men in the corps was supposedly 613, but of these 74 were dead, 19 were prisoners, 25 had taken their discharge, 30 had been transferred, probably as recruits to the British Army, and 113 were deserters. [More]

It's a Dirty Job, But Someone's Got to Do It

Well, not dirty, but certainly tedious.

I've updated Vol. 7 of the Journalist's Guide with everything from yours truly and Mike Vanderboegh, with additional related efforts by Gun Rights Examiner colleagues Dave Workman and Kurt Hofmann.

Chronicling the development and unfolding of this story is important. Anyone who has not spent time in this and the previous volumes has missed key information.

Click here for  the current volume with updates from Nov. 6 to the present.

Hotmail Hacked

Avoid any suspicious emails from my Hotmail account.

I've talked about this before but the consensus was it was merely spoofing and was not directly tapping into my computer.

This time, others in my address book are getting spam purporting to be from me and failed delivery notices come back to me.

I did a full scan on McAfee and also Malwarebytes and it showed clean, and both of those are up to date, so I'm assuming it's a Hotmail issue...especially as it's not taking over address books from my LiveMail, Yahoo and GMail accounts.

The message:
