Bound and Determined

The controversy erupted in April after Anchorage gun shops revealed that an ATF agent had visited them earlier this year, requesting access to their “bound books,” the volumes that firearms dealers are required by law to maintain, with every transaction involving gun purchases, sales, or other transactions...Great Northern Guns refused to cooperate with the ATF agent’s request, because it is against the law. [More]
Hooray for them--that is a brave and principled stand. Now we need to help them watch their back against retaliation/"Economic Waco."

Here's my problem:
Young’s office appears satisfied that the gun shop flap has been put to rest...
Why, because he received "assurances" after ATF was caught usurping authority, harassing gun stores and violating the frickin' law?  I'm not satisfied and you shouldn't be either.  Let these same bastards catch one of us in a technical violation and they'd come down on us with the full force of the state behind them.

When Hidden Compartments are Outlawed...

If you live in Ohio, you need to get involved now, as this latest bit of presumptuous police state enabling/ forced degradation has been fast-tracked. [Read]

Ohioans for Concealed Carry elaborates via email:
URGENT - IF YOU ARE CONCERNED BY THE DANGERS THAT SB305 WILL BRING TO MOTORISTS IN OHIO YOU MUST CALL YOUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES IMMEDIATELY AND EVERY SINGLE DAY THIS WEEK - DO NOT EMAIL THEM AS EMAIL HAS BEEN RENDERED USELESS -- CALL THEM, LEAVE A MESSAGE IF YOU MUST, AND HAVE EVERYONE YOU KNOW DO THE SAME. THIS BILL IMPACTS EVERYONE -- NOT JUST GUN OWNERS. To identify your representative go to http://www.legislature.state.oh.us -- On the right side of that page click on "House" and "Zip Code" and then enter your zip code. If more than one representative is listed CALL BOTH OF THEM. Leave them a voicemail and tell them you share Ohioans For Concealed Carry's concerns over SB305 and that you do not want it fast tracked to the Governor until it is improved -- or defeated.
I just did. The staffer for my rep, Kristina Roegner, did not know her position on this but said they had been getting quite a few calls. I conveyed my expectation that we will see leadership from her on this, including a public statement.I got the typical promise that my message would be passed on, but no commitment that my representative would represent liberty.

We shall see, and then we shall react accordingly.  In a perfect world, "leaders" wouldn't need to be led.

UPDATE:

Embedded Assets

Here’s a great way to reduce overhead and be effective at running a national organization dedicated to infringing on the gun rights of everyday people all at the same time… Have cities hire your people for you so that tax payers cover ¼ of your people’s salary and benefits, pay for most of their operational costs, and finance all of their other resources! It also embeds your people as leaders in city government so that you don’t have to lobby there! [More]

This Day in History: May 21

In a prelude to the Great Raid of 1780, Sir John Johnson and his small army of Tories and Indians invaded Johnstown on May 21, 1780. Their raid began at midnight when they entered the town and systematically killed local patriots and destroyed their homes and property. Local Tories, who had an early warning about the raid, assisted with the raid on their fellow neighbors. [More]

Appeals court denies extension in Shipley case despite strangely lost testimony

“The optical media (CDs) marked as Exhibits C & D were imaged, although the file system was corrupted. It is unknown how or why the media was corrupted. The optical media (CD) marked as Exhibit E was visibly scratched. The agent reported that in his opinion, the scratches, in a swirl format, was intentionally done,” a case document reveals. [More

So as long as you have a reason you think is good, the law should be disregarded, Judge? I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you--I'm just wondering how you would rule if I had what I thought were good reasons for exercising an uninfringed right to keep and bear arms in New York...?

From the looks of things, particularly the bit about "drawing the distinction between preventing people who need something from getting it, and preventing people who just want to blaze recreationally from doing their thing," it appears you're the arbiter of acceptable rationales.

That is unacceptable.

Pander Mountain

I've sent you a fair question that your gun owning customer base deserves an unequivocal explanation for.  Several of us have.

While I can't seem to locate it to copy and paste here WEAU.com tells us:
In a posting on its Facebook page, Gander Mountain says it's been a longtime partner of the NRA, but that its customers are diverse and have varied interests, so it established a policy recently which prohibits it from hosting events on behalf of political causes or candidates.
We understand. You just want to sell rope.

You corporate Quislings can try to hide from politics, but that doesn't mean politics won't find you.  Do you know nothing about grassroots vs. AstroTurf?  Do your own sales records not show you that your "diverse" customers are buying guns and ammo in record numbers? Do you truly think the unreconstructed Occupiers/domestic enemies who make up the "Wisconsin Anti-Violence Effort" are the ones guaranteeing your bottom line, as opposed to being environmentalcases who would ban all "blood sports" and relegate much of the wilderness off limits even to the bear bells crowd? When they're not raiding animal labs or pooping on cop cars?

For people who deal with hunters and the wild, you'd think you know that jackals don't spare those who appear weak. They target them.

Don't expect those who believe like me to take a stand when Brady/VPC/ CSGV circles you and moves in  for being "gun violence profiteers" selling semiautomatic handguns and "assault rifles", or when PETA tells their fellow human-haters how you abet untold animal murders in the name of corporate greed!

Now that you've voluntarily separated yourselves from the pack, you've separated yourself from its protection, and you'll never be more vulnerable.

So Proud to Live, So Proud to Lie

Elizabeth Warren would be more than happy to take away our way of life, and essentially turn the entire Republic into an updated version of Cherokee Nation.  At the risk of exposing Fauxcahontas even more...

That was just plain a mean thing to do to you and I apologize, but I wanted to make sure everybody knew this juvenile trick because it's always appealed to my immature sense of humor, and besides, maybe somebody with more reach will pick up on using similar imagery to gin up public ridicule that will help send her continued political aspirations to the Happy Hunting Grounds.
