Anti-gun state senator punishes law-abiding Oregonians for Clackamas shooting
Illinois gun ‘victory’ may or may not mitigate losses in New York, Hawaii
Foremost among the concerns: Will what these sides come up with result in a “shall issue” or “may issue” statute, and what effect will that have on a recent decision in New York’s Second Circuit Court, and another, although much less-publicized decision in the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii? [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner analysis notes every silver lining has a touch of grey. Sometimes more than a touch. It also links to an exclusive copy of a recent unpublicized but related decision from Hawaii.

It It Walks Like a Sitting Duck and Quacks Like a Sitting Duck
'I felt like sitting ducks,' woman says after Oregon mall shooting leaves 3 dead [More]And for good reason:
Yes, the official policy is no firearms are permitted in the center. We have it posted at all of the entrances as part of our basic "code of conduct".. Our mall is owned and operated by General Growth Properties and all of their 200+ malls have the same policy. It's designed to provide our customers a safe, friendly, and comfortable place to shop. Malls are private property with public access, so we do reserve the right to enforce policies that we feel are necessaryGuess who owns Clackamas Town Center?
UPDATE: In his own post, Intrepid Wanderer tells us how we can question the policy. Here's mine:

It's Just Common Sense
As long as you ignore the reality of DGUs, yeah. [Watch]
Or don't watch. It's just Bob Costas and Piers Morgan digging themselves in deeper. Does anybody who matters really care what these self-important ignoramuses "think"?
I do note ol' Piers hasn't brought up the "muskets" argument again.

We're the Only Ones Contradicting Ourselves Enough
Everybody I've seen posting on this has focused on the valuable Sturmgewehr 44, and some have complimented the police for not just being robots about it and going the extra mile to assist the woman.
Yeah, well, like the song says, every silver lining's got a touch of grey.
I think the real story is the contradiction the police spokesmen present, but do not seem to recognize the implications of. First consider:
And yeah, I suspect "level" is not so much a typo as an "Authorized Journalist" who doesn't know any better.

Yeah, well, like the song says, every silver lining's got a touch of grey.
I think the real story is the contradiction the police spokesmen present, but do not seem to recognize the implications of. First consider:
Crabtree attributes gun accidents to ignorance and carelessness. The anonymous gun buy-back program is aimed at preventing people from running into potentially dangerous situations with a gun they don't know how to use or work. And then:
"She did not know it was a machine gun. This is a point I've been trying to make for some time. What the hell kind of "public safety" is enhanced by giving people who know nothing about proper gun handling financial incentives to do just that, and to further take them out of their homes and transport them in public?
"If the gun had been in the closet loaded, any second you could hit the wrong level and discharge a fatal round," he said of the Sturmgewehr 44.
And yeah, I suspect "level" is not so much a typo as an "Authorized Journalist" who doesn't know any better.

A Quick Word About Today's Lunatic Decision in IL
Yes, I've seen it the news.
I'm going through it, plus consulting with some lawyers on a few questions it brings to mind.
One thing I saw on page 16 of the decision that made me laugh:

Apart from the usual prohibitions of gun ownership by children, felons, illegal aliens, lunatics...The House and Senate have voted to strike that last word from U.S. law.
Reese emergency release motion to be heard next week
Lawyers for Rick and Ryin Reese, New Mexico gun dealers imprisoned without bail for well over a year, “filed a motion to release them until their sentencing date,” a source close to the case informed supporters this morning. Politics As Usual

And not that the GOP "leadership" will offer and push any serious proposals to fix any of the conditions that will soon lead us to a critical mass where the Dems won't have to play any more tricks.

You learn something every day though: I didn't know the Canadians banned "Orientals" from owning guns in WWII. I'll have to look into that in my copious free time, and see if anybody's done a comprehensive write-up...if anybody knows anything about that, feel free to leave a link.
