Egypt exemplifies ‘hope and change’ of ‘gun control’ and authoritarian rule
That these are all positions our own “gun control” advocates would like to enact domestic parallels for, there’s one other similarity -- aside from the demonstrable fact that such efforts don't produce their promised results and that determined people will develop workarounds when their incentives become strong enough -- between turbulent Egypt and the increasingly discontented U.S. that seems eerie, particularly by the choice of words used. [More]This morning's Gun Rights Examiner commentary notes if all you have is hope, the change will be dictated by those who control the guns.
In the Line of Fire
Maher turned to the movies to support his theory about who would want to have a 3D-printed gun, referencing the movie "In The Line Of Fire," in which someone uses a 3D gun to get past White House security to assassinate the President.Yeah, that's the only reason we'd want this technology, Bill. Great catch!
"That's what they want to do," Maher said. [More]

This Day in History: May 13
Not a man of any rank or distinction or scarcely any man of property has lain in his house since the British passed through Nash County. We are distressed with all the rogues and vagabonds that Cornwallis can raise to pester us with, but I am in hopes from the unanimity of my County men we shall make an easy conquest of them. [More]

Open mike reveals N.J. senators’ contempt for gun owners, confiscation goal
"We needed a bill that was going to confiscate, confiscate, confiscate.” [More]This afternoon's Gun Rights Examiner report begs to disagree with those who say nobody wants to take our guns. Of course they do.

LA pit bull attack shows savage consequences of citizen disarmament
What this means is, top LA law enforcement knows perfectly well that savage beasts are preying on peaceable citizens, they are unable to stop it from happening, they know what will give those being attacked a fighting chance, and they deny them that option under force of state arms. Through their mandates, they confirm that they would rather see a 63-year-old woman mauled to death, ripped apart in the most horrible, agonizing and terrifying way conceivable, than simply have the choice to the means of defense. [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes some beasts work their savagery from a position of presumed authority.

And the insane thing is, based on election results, most of them agree with her.
I understand there's no text for the bill posted yet, but does it really matter? What could it possibly say that would refute this assessment?

Malware?
Jim from Louisiana Says: May 9th, 2013 at 10:51 pm Please send me a site that does not provide malware with it. The site David Codrea linked to had me spending 2 hours cleaning out my computer.
SayUncle Says: May 9th, 2013 at 11:01 pm Examiner site? See update in post for where to get it. [More]
The site I linked to in my Examiner column for downloading the files was The Pirate Bay, which all the majors reporting on this story have also linked to. As for the Examiner site itself, I know a lot of people complain about popup ads and videos on the site, but I never see them because I use adblock, and Vanderboegh and his readers fairly well address that issue here.
I use the Examiner site ever day and run routine scans with McAfee, Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes, and routinely come up clean.
So Jim from Louisiana, let's get a list of all the malware you had to clean from your machine for two hours and how you affirmed it came from a link associated with me.

Today's Activism Project
A dead horse I continue to beat is urging advocates to write letters to the editor.
Charles Ely just got one published and shared the link with me via Twitter.
Why not make that a project to do today: Pick a paper, find their submission guidelines (word limits, etc.), compose a letter and send it in?
Here are more reasons and some tips for increasing the chances you'll be published.
I repeat: Why not?
