Last Night on Armed American Radio
We're the Only Ones Obedient Enough
The arbitrator ruled that Roche was justified in his actions because he was following a superior officer's orders. [More]Whew. Will these guys be glad to hear that!

We're the Only Ones Circumstantial Enough
“This was an unfortunate circumstance in which an officer was doing exactly what we in the public require of them, and an animal who was doing what instinct believes appropriate,” Burbank said at a Friday morning news conference. “We are, as the police department, very sorry for the circumstance.” [More]Gosh, how understanding. I can't help but note the heartfelt sincerity in that official statement. I wonder how many lawyers they vetted it with before coming up with a final.
It's also nice of them to be so in tune with what the public requires.

So THAT'S the Problem...
"Sustained leadership..." [More]
I guess if they mean in the home, by loving parents who establish standards and set proper examples, that's right.

Judicial Watch says court ordered DOJ to release Fast & Furious docs index
My reaction: Big deal. An index. And what's to stop a stay like we just saw in Palmer, then an appeal, and then more stonewalling?
Gun prohibitionists can’t have it both ways
Not that they'll ever let a little thing like that stop them from demanding whatever advances their purposes at the time.
UPDATE: Make that "three."

Bordering on Insanity
GOA and a handful of screaming-in-the-wilderness supporters believe illegal immigration is related closely enough to the "single issue" to warrant being considered a factor in assessing just how supportive of 2A a politician really is. Most gun owners are either unaware of the tie-in, or try to justify ignoring it.
That gives politicians who should be in the hot seat a pass, and that is a major factor in the situation Herschel decries... [More]

I beg leave to lay before Your Excellency the Case of Fortune Stoddard a Negroe Soldier of my Regmt who is now in the State of Maryland in Civil Custody in the County of Cecil, for Killing one James Cunningham, who with some others bred a Riot in the Soldiers Quarters... [More]

D’Souza talks ‘America,' Palmer talks D.C. gun case on Armed American Radio
Dinesh D’Sousa, author and filmmaker whose book and documentary film “America: Imagine the World without Her,” and Tom Palmer, lead plaintiff in the recent landmark (temporarily-stayed) decision ending Washington D.C.’s ban on carrying handguns outside the home, will be featured guests tonight on Salem Radio Network’s nationally-syndicated Armed American Radio program, an AAR press release announced Thursday. [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner report gives details on tonight's special broadcast. The information is being made available -- who will avail themselves of it, and spread the word? Or has this already been covered to death by all the major networks?
Talking Guns
I'll be doing my regular monthly gun headlines round-up today at 2 p.m. Eastern (11 a.m. to Noon local time, adjust for your area) on KFNX 1100 Independent Talk, Phoenix, with Kate Krueger.
If you live outside the broadcast area, you can click on the "Listen Live" link on the Talking Guns website.

Why Gun Groups Supported, and Opposed, Failed Hunting and Conservation Bill
I just found out my latest Shooter's Log piece was published on July 25, and I did not link to it at that time. [More]

Why Not Offer a 'Third Way' to Let Doctors Ask About Guns?
"Progressives" love "third way" proposals, if nothing else to get people's guard down on matters of principle and let the camel slip its nose under the tent, so if they're to be consistent, they ought to love this idea. [More]My latest JPFO Alert offers a prescription for immunizing gun owners against agenda-driven gun quacks in states that have not yet enacted appropriate boundary violation protections.
Gun owners should take White House up on invitation to write Obama
Well, why not? This is still America, as much as Obama's trying to fundamentally transform the place, and as long as you steer clear of anything the Secret Service might not find humor or understanding in, you’re still free to tell the guy what you think of him, or to ask him a question, or to urge him to... well, use your best judgment there. [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner commentary encourages gun owners to tell the Organizer in Chief just what they think of him and his fundamental transformations.
Judicial Watch says court ordered DOJ to release Fast & Furious docs index
Well, that oughtta be good for more stonewalling and thumb-nosing. [More]
Any bets against an appeal and a stay, just like we saw with the DC carry law decision?

Letters to Obama
I sent a message to Obama as part of my upcoming Gun Rights Examiner article. This blog post will be a link in that piece.
Here was my message:
It was rejected on submission. It said my CAPTCHA answer was incorrect. Sorry, I don't know much Common Core math, and was always taught to use a comma. They sure make it tough to tell the guy to go **** himself.
Ah well, if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Will I be up to the challenge this time, and do I enter "four" or "4"?
WTF is with the British spelling of "color"? Are they outsourcing the website to H-1Bs from India now?
Anyway, here's proof of delivery. Now to go and post my article.

He's a Well-Respected Man About Town
This means, as respected firearms blogger David Codrea recently noted, that when it’s time for someone to “pay the piper,” it won’t be real criminals that get the shaft, it will be some poor FFL that hasn’t kept his books up to snuff. [More]I've warned these folks before not everyone agrees with that assessment, and any public acknowledgement may end up working against them in the eyes of those who feel I've stepped on toes or worse. That said, I intend to grab feral sons Uday and Qusay by their collars and read this to them -- it's nice to know there are ways to command their respect other than what I have to do to break up their parties.
I'll drag 'em in for an obedience lesson right after this song is over.
We're the Only Ones Who Won't Take No for an Answer Enough
It's always nice to see that training kick into gear and become reflexive... [More]
In fairness, though, there's another dynamic and possibility that may be a factor here. I can't and won't automatically assume guilt.
