Captain's Log
Herschel's been under the weather, but he's back and making up for lost time. Head on over and check out new material including The Perfect Rifle, LEO Dog Shooters, Stop the GOP Celebration, The AR-15 is a Military Weapon, Favorable Statistical Outcomes, and... more.
Private Letters
At a daily briefing for reporters, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said he cannot discuss private correspondence between the president and other world leaders. [More]Well thank goodness it was all private. Allah (blessed be His name) forbid "the most transparent administration in history" would be hiding anything from the public.
"Josh Earnest." I think I've remarked before that the very name is an oxymoron and the embodiment of Opposite Day "progressivism."
Denials notwithstanding, WarOnGuns managed to obtain an "exclusive" copy of the letter in question!

UPDATE: When putting this together, I didn't think there would be any need to explain this is just another one of my Fauxtoshop gags. I see I was wrong.

A Mugged Liberal
Can't we all get along? [More]
So what have we learned, Chris? Anything?
This is the "progressive" justifying it. Notice how he and his fellow feral Prozis decry "haters"?
Yes, it's Opposite Day, alright...

594 Myths
Since we know Bloomberg & Co. intend to repeat what they just did in Washington in other states, the time is now -- not when they've got the media saturated -- to make information like this go viral. [More]
It's also way past time to call the antis' bluff on only wanting "background checks" by daring them to promote a method to ensure prohibited persons are excluded from lawful gun sales where no information identifying either gun buyers or what they purchased needs to be collected.
They won't of course, which means this is one more way their lies can be exposed.

Stonewalled
We found that a lot of the background regarding this emerging controversy was anonymously posted by ATF insiders on the blogs of gun rights activists Mike Vanderboegh of Sipsey Street Irregulars and David Codrea of Examiner.com. So my producer and I contacted Vanderboegh and Codrea, who were in direct contact with some of the principal players. [More]Mike notices some honorable mentions in Sharyl Attkisson's new book.
Points of order: No ATF insider ever posted here or at Sipsey. All information received was vetted and posted by Mike and me -- we don't turn over the keys to the car. I don't know where she got that idea. Also, yes, she posted a request on CUATF, but I passed along her request along with Vanderboegh's recommendation in order to encourage the decision to speak with her.
Some day, all the emails will come out.
The last time I brought up the subject of recognition, a toxic comment poster accused me of whining. Pretty snottily, too.
No, what I'm doing is trying to set the record straight, correct an injustice and give credit where due. If the "critic" had been paying attention, he'd know that's something I do every day, with and for all kinds of people and subjects. If anyone thinks I can't do the same for myself and Mike on occasions when I see the truth being further buried -- on my own blog and when no one else will -- then that's just too damn bad.
The Calm Before the Storm?
The affirmation of the Malloy administration in Connecticut, especially, says Mr. Vanderboegh, raises new questions about what the returning governor is planning to do about gun owners who fail to register their semiautomatic rifles and large magazines under a new law signed by Governor Malloy last year. [More]With Everytown and NRA each crowing, Mike points out the huge elephant in the room neither one wants to even acknowledge, let alone talk about.
Speaking of Connecticut, he could use a hand getting there.
It's time -- way past time -- for everyone who gets value from Mike's work to step up to the plate and return some.
This Day in History: November 7
Your Excellency’s Dog-kennel, at Mount Vernon, is as good a Quarter as that I am now in. The season will be soon severe—and every reason that is disagreeable, induces me to desire the Quar. Master Genl may receive Your Excellency’s positive Orders to fix me at Ellison’s, which is upon every account my proper Quarter... [More]

We're the Only Ones Taking Lip Off of Kids Enough
A seven-year-old girl has been injured after a police firearms expert accidentally discharged a gun during a demonstration. Nottinghamshire Police said the girl suffered a "minor injury to her lip" after the terrifying incident at the police headquarters. [More]That's some "expert." And naturally, "the police force only made a public admission after details of the incident leaked out."
Pip-pip! Jolly good, eh, wot?
Welcome to Piers Morgan Paradise.

A Low Profile
I'll bet. [More]
Who thinks those behind her don't consider her a sure thing?
If this trial balloon goes up any higher, it'll be time to break out the darts.
I've got no problem leaving the slot unfilled.

Why Didn't the Victims Just Vote to Disarm Their Captors?
Oh, look: A monopoly of violence! Just like the kind all the hive insect citizen disarmament cultists demand! [Watch]
That's quite the tally of disarmed moms in some of those scenes.
Sorry, those who "feel" freedom is something that can be decided by a critical mass of doctrinaire, and in most cases, manipulated "progressives." Before you can declare "victory," there's the little matter of those who still won't surrender to address.

A Matter of Perspective
It's a little early for any side to declare itself a winner. [More]
You might as well hold an election to decide if those of us who won't go along with the pogro... uh... program should just surrender.

Void of Explanation
Judge Allegra published an order announcing that he has voided his judgement in the case! He is is preparing to announce a schedule for “further proceedings in the matter”. [More]No doubt a result of this.
Any lawyers care to speculate? Is voiding an order like that a normal action when a settlement is appealed?
Ain't it something, when you have unlimited resources and your opponent, by comparison, has next to none?
We're the Only Ones Hunger Gaming Enough
"An officer said, 'Drop that plate right now -- like I had a weapon,'" Abbott said. [More]Let me guess: He didn't look like he's been missing any meals?

"Progressive" Results
Oregon is now at, or near, the bottom of every major metric with one exception. Oregon leads the country in foreclosures. [More]What, no "We're Number One!" chant?
Funny -- peculiar funny, not ha-ha funny -- how "progressives" are so obsessed about disarming poor people that they're doing everything they can to create more of them.
Talk about being egalitarian!
Is Facebook Deleting Gun Pages?
I've seen some complaints that they are.
We know guns and other items are verboten there in terms of commercial advertising.
Also be aware of their policy concerning "people discussing the private sale of regulated items."
Names of pages I've seen discussions about, like "Southern Firearms Trader" and "Tennessee Firearms Buy Sell Trade," seem to indicate being close to the line. Thing is, there's no way to reconstruct what they did or said, and even if I could get a synopsis, there's no way a big outfit like Facebook would respond to a specific inquiry to get a complete picture. Plus, I'm not clear on whether or not some groups have just changed their accessibility to "secret."
I'm kind of at a loss on what to do next except to say if you use social media, follow the rules, and if you believe you've been wrongly punished, I don't know what you can do except make it known.
There is a conservative alternative-- but until more people join and actively participate, its a lot more limited, and right now, Facebook still can be exploited. If it starts deleting gun rights advocacy and other liberty groups, that will be another issue altogether.
And no, ceding an entire area of operation and squandering opportunities is not an answer.
