Building an Audience
If you're going to be in the Houston area on Sunday, April 26, this sounds really fun and informative, and an altogether "different" thing to do... [More]
Also, tonight on "Stop the Threat":
Dark knight Bloomberg’s approval of Jeb and Hillary bodes ill for gun rights
Least surprising of all is Bloomberg’s stated rationale, that “Hillary and Jeb are the only two who know how to make the trains run.” It’s unsurprising because that phrase has its origin as a reference to a popular misconception on the "virtues" of Fascism as practiced by Benito Mussolini. [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes Sir Michael of Bloomberg didn't get to be a billionaire by aligning himself with people who stood in the way of his ambitions.
Doesn't VPC Compile Records Like This?
Well, not like this, and not as comprehensive, but to make the case that police are the "Only Ones" who ought to be carrying guns...? [More]

Physician, Heal Thyself
“I can’t function as a normal human being.” [More]So my default position is going to be that you can't, either.
Sounds like this lady needs a custodian. But that's dependent on who's running the asylum...
A Big Believer
"I would totally look into that, because I'm a big believer." [More]Yeah, we know.
And how is "totally look[ing] into that" a pledge to actually do anything? Would you sign, say, a real estate contract with the guy, if you got that response to one of the terms or conditions that was a deal-breaker for you?
Wanna see what else The Donald is a big believer in?
"It's Complete Bull****"
Mike reports on NRA's Chris Cox "categorical denial," caught on video. [More]
As an aside, in the further corroboration department, I pulled a reference to the "pistol grip shotgun-like firearms" before my last GUNS piece went to publication because another credible industry source -- completely unrelated to the other sources and unaware of these developments before I raised them -- was told by the major manufacturer that their attorney had advised no sales without ATF paperwork. That was corroborated by yet another industry source who told us his calls for supplies have not been returned since late March.
Sorry to be so intentionally obscure with identifying details, but the way this works is you don't go outing confidential sources and expect to have any kind of future relationship. Those who have insights into this piece of the puzzle will see that it fits and have a pretty good idea of who some of the players I am referring to are -- and those who do not, well, stay tuned, we're working on it.
The bottom line is, you don't just take some anonymous stranger's word for things and run with it. And you put all kinds of considerations into the front end -- especially over motives and credibility of multiple sources -- before you post word one.
That's why Mike put "WE STAND BY OUR STORY" in all caps.

Corroborating details emerging on backroom gun deal with ATF
The “deal” to provide that cover has three components. The first, broadening “sporting purposes” language, will ensure owners of “pistol grip shotgun-like firearms” don’t get caught up in a net of ATF’s making, Vanderboegh reports. The second part will credit NRA for arranging that, and the third will involve a concession -- an ammunition import ban on "specialty ammunition," to include tracers, Vanderboegh continues, albeit noting the main objective is “knocking a bigger hole in the Constitution by (widening the 'sporting purposes' language)..." [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes some are confirming and others are ignoring -- in other words, this story is slowly emerging as experience tells us we should expect. Stay tuned.
Dealing with the Devil
Vanderboegh tracks down information to the sporting purposes/ammo "compromise" story, and comes up with some interesting corroborating details. [More]
This needs to be publicized more, something those who care can't count on anyone but themselves doing. I'm going to go share the link on social media and then post a follow-up Gun Rights Examiner column,
Mike is at the convention as we speak, and may yet have a related surprise in store for us if the heavens properly align.

A Thwarted "Compromise"
Does anyone think a "compromise" would have been offered if it hadn't been perceived as a necessary skin-saving political move? [More]
Why turn down the heat and give those bastards a pass? You know they'll only be back at your throats when they think they can get away with it. Seems to me Independence Institute has effectively done that.
Besides, the only one keeping you from getting such a magazine is you, and your vested unwillingness to acknowledge the new paradigm.

The Leadership Forum
NRA Putting GOP Establishment Over Gun Owners At 2015 Annual Meeting [More]Seriously? Some weren't invited? I'd heard that about Rand Paul due to a NAGR connection, but have seen some apologists claiming it was due to a "schedule conflict," and Workman is reporting "The NRA reportedly could not accommodate Paul [and] None of this gets any traction with NRA leaders or the grassroots members attending the convention this weekend."
The truth of this is important to determine. If the allegations bear out, it merits traction and more. We need "NRA leaders" presenting options, not suppressing them.
That said, in terms of Paul, his "don't call it amnesty" position is one that needs to be elaborated so we can figure out what we should call it when he recommends an "eventual pathway to citizenship." How will that result in anything but "eventual" evisceration of legally-recognized RKBA? And from what Larry tells me, the position will affect that "A+" grade.
When I was on Joe Miller's program, he was under the impression that, like GOA, NAGR was also one of the groups warning against the illegal immigration threat to gun rights. If so, I can find no evidence they are even mentioning that, or distancing themselves in any way from Paul on it.
By the People
Interesting concepts for peaceable "legal" revolution. [More]
Here's how it works.
What it does not address is "a right delayed," but still, the "death by a thousand cuts" definitely has its place as the counterpunch in the "new paradigm."
I'll be interested in reading the book when it comes out next month.
